Thank you Gavin for this wonderful heads-up. I think GSX deserves support especially from people like you that have some standing in the community. Unfortunately in the last couple of months GSX got frequently blamed by all kind of users and very often part of the blame was caused by a misunderstanding about how things are supposed to work together and by setting expectation levels that were kind of unrealistic. The tool still has to stick to some limitations the simulator itself brings in. Having that said I think if you get a clear understanding as to what to expect (and what not) GSX is adding so much immersion to the sim that I could no longer do without it to be honest. I do however agree to the point of ease of use. It is one of the tools that the way it anteracts with the end user gives the feeling of the good old times where the flightsim community was more a group of freaks and the tools were the same way for freaky people that were willing to fiddle around for hours. This is not the way the new and now increased population of flightsimmers wants to be treated :-). I am sure FSDT is aware of that and we will see some improvements in that area.
I have to laugh at how stupid I was to jump on and buy this software. Way too much crap to do each flight. Feels like I’m doing their job for them. I’ll be seriously rethinking any FSDG purchases from now on.
Not sure if you already know, but in the installer app config page (where you “disable” airports), you can set a keybind (CTRL+shift+F12 by default, I set mine to F11). When you press that Key in the sim (make sure there is no conflicting binding), it opens and closes the GSX menu instantly (as long as the icon in the top bar is white). That saves a lot of time (and anger)
Great video Gavin. I’ve personally deleted GSX as I find it the worse piece of software I have ever seen. I would recommend the product if you don’t want to fly aircraft as you can frustrate yourself for hours with the editor. So many updates just reflects what an appalling state the product was in at release. Finished with FSDT.

Dear developers.. let's respect our time :) Considering that we already have 2023, the addon is a bit primitively designed. .. especially since it is relatively expensive. If only GSX devs simplify the whole process, I will be first in line to buy it :)
Like you said this isn't perfect but it's getting better, and once you have a bit of time to spare you can edit an airport (or part of it) fairly quickly. I have 3 comments really :- 1/ There is no version numbers because the developer says that there are hundreds or thousand of files that are checked by the installer (updater), a change to a few small files doesn't warrant a version number for the whole package. (or something similar) 2/@ 2:20 There are 2 settings worth trying. Tick and enable SU10 Navdata API, this was a new API developed so that the program can read the normally encrypted AFCAD files when using airports that were bought via the MSFS Marketplace. It also speeds up GSX as it doesn't have the scan through all your scenery files compiling a database of AFCAD's at every startup (AFAIK) 3/ @2:20 It may be worth deselecting 'Extra Ground Clutter', this will spawn random ground equipment etc. The potential problem is that MSFS seems to have a limitation on the number of objects that can be rendered in a scene. You may have other add-ons (like aircraft) which create objects which can't be rendered as all the rendering space has been consumed by the clutter. I don't know whether sound is classed as an object also. Anyway your experience may vary......... Try it on and off, as many add-on airports have a ton of clutter anyway, so no need for more.

If you don't want to customise your own gates, then download profiles other users have made from Flightsim.to - however, it doesn't take too long to set up a gate once you're used to it. For example, before my stream today, I spawned in at Glasgow, gate 5, spent 2 mins editing the passengers walking route and docking system, then it was done. Next time, I can just go back to the same gate. Basically, I set it up as I go.
Thanks for the video, it’s great. Finally someone who can explain how GSX “works” because the manual is …. I tested the updates 2, 3 times in a row and it always updates. GSX won’t tell that the update is not needed. There might be a control in it to check if an update is needed or not.

The FSDT Installer now gives an version number when I updated it a couple of days ago. A very useful addition. Personally GSX is not perfect but it’s a great addition and something I missed when I switched from P3D. Hopefully development continues at a good pace

For two weeks now I cannot see any vehicles, personal from GSX pro anymore I can hear the voices of catering trucks , passengers etc but no visual at all . I did updates and run the couatl start as admin but no objects are showing at all. Ant suggestions? Thanks a lot

I personally like gsx. I didn’t when it first came out and removed it. Had issues with it in VR and removing the mouse when it was active. I let it mature a bit and like it. I haven’t even gotten into the editing yet but looks like I have a few airports to do. Wasn’t even aware of the extra features such as the simbrief integration with the parking system. Thanks for that. I’ll be adding some of these to a few airports.
@@Easyjetsimpilot that’s the part I have to work on. The editor has been a bit confusing for me. But seeing you can add passengers inside of the terminals is amazing. I have several airports I’m gonna do that on.
Also, the version and build number can be found in the AppData\Roaming\virtuali\couatl.err text file. If it was noted in the release notes then you would be able to xref and would close the loop on knowing which version you are on.
Gavin. The Release Notes will always be up to date regardless of what version you have installed. The notes are dated and so it's easy to tell if there has been a new update that you can download!
GSX was the first addon I installed when reinstalling P3D. It will be the same for MSFS. I mainly use it for pushbacks but it is also nice to have some movement around the aircraft.
Strongly recommend running the offline installer rather than the FSDT main as the offline takes a fraction of the time. When I start the PC I go to the FSDT webpage with the links and can see if the changelog has moved on. If so pull the offline, run it and it's done in 5 secs max. Yes I think it's worth it for immersion but damn it's frustrating sometimes. Get many times when it hangs trying to load and I have to kill COAUTL to get it working again. At dest it often asks me to select a gate even when I'm parked and none of the gates offered match either world map or navigraph parking slots. If it does, then it tells me the slot is occupied (that is me!!) and if I accept spawn to position it screws my ACARS flight. Absolute worst thing IMO is the inability to concurrently load pax/bags and refuel at the same time. If a bowser point is taken by a loader fine but if not why cant't I refuel while pax getting on?? You also can't interrupt a process once you've started other than by killing COATL engine. Love it, Hate it - what can I say....
I got gsx today and I was really excited to try it out but when I try to open the menu it opens but it’s stuck on the loading screen and no matter what I do nothing fixes it do you what I could do as I don’t want to feel like I’ve wasted my money. Cheers.
Two questions: How is performance impact How does GSX work with aircrafts own loading systems ie mass and balance page on the Fenix. I'm hoping that they connect in some way?
GSX has options in it's setting to check for custom fueling systems, like the fenix EFB. Personally, I load the aircraft instantly after the fuel truck arrives, and just let GSX passengers board independantly.

Hi all, is there a way to disconnect the fuel truck from arriving when you load fuel in the flypad. every time I load fuel gsx sends the fuel truck then says dont load till it arrives, but its already loading in the flypad. thanks

Hi everyone! I’ve been struggling with severe FPS degradation over time since SU11. I’ve noticed I only ever get this problem when I’m limited by main thread. The fix for me used to be just lowering both LOD sliders down to 100 however even with all graphics settings now on minimum I am always limited by main thread and in the red. Any suggestions?
I don’t get it man I don’t have the same gsx menu to you when I open GSX it doesn’t say load passengers or request anything it’s totally different and I feel like I have wasted £30 ITS very anoying please can you help me 😢
Vehicles don't show up for me time to time. What can it be? The menu says, they are on the way, but then they never show up. Even if I wait like 15 minutes. I can't be the only one with this issue. Anybody has a solution? And in these cases, even pushback doesn't work. The characters are standing in one place or slowly moving in one place. The rest of the sequence is completely frozen. If I restart the crocodile engine, that doesn't help either.
@@Easyjetsimpilot And it was NOT GSX! IT IS Microsoft! AGAIN! It took me 2 full days to figure it out, and if I don't use Little Navmap, I probably never find it out. Lucky thing is that LNm and GSX both were frozen at the same time, and after a while I noticed it and I knew that it can't be a coincidence. Okay, so here is the thing. And I think it's really important for everybody who uses Little Navmap or any other application or add-on that needs SIMCONNECT. Because this is a NEW BUG in MSFS since Sim Update 11! Here you go! If you turn ACTIVE PAUSE ON during a flight, MSFS immediately says a fairwell to simconnect, and there is no way back, only restarting the sim itself. So after you turn on active pause, EVERYTHING that used simconnect on your machine loses the connection with the sim. That's why for me, Little Navmap and GSX Pro both stuck. LNm did't show the aircraft's position anymore (and it can't reconnect!), and for GSX Pro, the ground handling vehicles or characters didn't move anywhere, just stood in one place after spawning for the eternity, because they didn't know where my aircraft's position was anymore. And of course, whatever you do in the sim, GSX also can't reconnect, because MSFS has already broken the connection with simconnect.dll. Anyway, the devs of Little Navmap have already notified Asobo about the issue, so hopefully the guys will fix this and then everything goes back to normal. Well... "Normal". It's still Microsoft, isn't it? :) So you never know. But we hope for the best. :) And HAPPY, SUCCESSFUL NEW YEAR TO YOU and everybody who reads this! :)))
A couple problems I have maybe people can help me with?: No buttons work on the first click on the in-game menu, I have to close the menu and re-open. The Couatl program crashes midflight and I have to restart it every time I arrive at the gate
Hirrible, paid 30$ for gsx and its useless, too hard to operate! Everytine i start i get message “ parking too small for aircraft” ive watches many videos on how to us eit. Ive tried addding way points for passangers, when i finish and i click enter, everything disappears! Its just awefull

True. To be honest, I'll spawn in at a gate, then quickly edit the one I'm at, rather than do a full airport. Takes about a minute once your familiar with it all.

Thanks for the video, but until the devs make it A LOT MORE friendlier, I will keep it uninstalled!!! It was the first addon I purchased for msfs and at that time, almost every time I used it, I would get a CTD!!! I know it's been updated a lot since then, but I STILL consider GSX to be the biggest waste of money I've ever spent. It may be great if you have the time to edit, adjust, download profiles and do all kind of other unnecessary BS, but I prefer to be flying instead of "editing" or "fixing".
Again, unless you are a UA-camr then setting up these scenarios is simply a very time consuming exercise. If I am correct, and I think that I am, then most people will probably never use the same gate twice & I assume that even if the settings for the gate are saved, which I doubt, how likely is it that somebody wants to use the same airport gate every time they take to the skies? It takes longer to set up GSX than it does to fly from Heathrow to Cairo!!! Id rather forsake all this and get flying. Yes, I get immersion and the reality look but setting this up is simply madness and not even enjoyable to undertake.......well in my opinion anyway.
Many amazing people in the flight sim community have done the hard work for you and created full airport profiles. Most are available on Flightsim.to to download, covering all gates etc. Most payware scenery too now comes with a GSX profile.
I am sorry, but GSX is disgraceful and full of bugs, I know this is not your fault but people need to think 10 times before embarking in this horror story...
Hell Gavin GSX is very poor in my opinion . Do people really need to see people walking towards the aircraft and the work involved is so much. Rather fly
I've found it to be rather awesome. You can setup everything if you want but the default layout it loads is fine for me. It is pretty cool to watch passengers load, get the sounds of them loading and interacting with the cabin crew while full animation baggage loading is occurring outside. And this all happens automatically in most airports using a jet way. Gavin is going through ALL the options that aren't necessary to mess with.
there are simmers that really don't get offended at each and every turn when it comes to addon devs we understand that the platform causes a lot of issues and that we dont erreneously assume who is breaking what !?!? fsdt needs to communicate a bit better, that is it we blame quickly and then like politicians make wrong statements and facts things are and will improve as the generic platform improves
Yeah, well, no. I gave GSX Pro a second chance a couple days ago. I went through the complete update which was quite lengthy in time, and I made an honest attempt to test and see if it can be an option for me. It had been very unstable and unpredictable, tried a few airports with GSX profiles I got from flightsim.to, sometimes the stuff it offers would work, sometimes they wouldn't. I spent hours and didn't make it work properly at all for a "complete" flight preparation from fueling and boarding to pushback. It would never load my passengers as I see in your videos, although the SimBrief integration was showing green, I couldn't really understand what was doing at any given time, both with Fenix and FBW (the 2 aircrafts I am flying). I spend hours watching videos and reading forum posts, at no avail. Then I read somewhere that GSX breaks the live traffic, which is a no no for me, and that was when I decided to uninstall it. I have a basic principle in this hobby: if anything, an aircraft, a utility, etc. takes more time to troubleshoot than to use, then it's not worth the trouble. GSX is a complete waste of time and money IMHO.
you got it backwards: AI traffic injection breaks Simconnect, which in turn breaks GSX, and this is misleading you to assume GSX is “unpredictable”, and no, I’m not saying it’s anybody’s fault, it’s just the sim seems to break down when there are too many objects, regardless who created it, Simconnect starts to break apart, not responding to connections, and even making objects disappear at random. Disabling ground clutter in GSX will reduce the number of objects created by it (on default airports), and lowering AI density will of course make the biggest difference, but the real fix can only come from Asobo.
This gsx stuff is bs. My gsx hasn’t worked once since I bought it and the guy I’ve been emailing has ghosted me and won’t let me get a refund bro I’m sick of them

Just get it!. It's not that expensive and even either it's flaws is much better than not having it at all. I have no regrets!
Some airport devs are already providing official GSX profiles so they are seeing the advantage of GSX to their products. Saves us the time and effort.

It’s so rediculous there is no “update available” or you are up to date. How difficult is this to code.

You can check their forum and they update the tittle of the post for their offline installer, it is actually quicker.

What about using GSX Pro with smaller Business Jets like the CJ4 or C700? How does it handle pax, cargo and refueling for those?

It's pretty straight forward when you get used to the editor.

@@ianwebster891 problem is that the Fenix auto disconnects the jetway when you finish boarding. I'm sure that causes problems for GSX boarding.
@@elliott7268 Hasn't in my experience. You just hit the 'toggle jetway' button on the EFB, and ignore the passengers briefly walking in midair!

Hi all, is there a way to disconnect the fuel truck from arriving when you load fuel in the flypad. every time I load fuel gsx sends the fuel truck then says dont load till it arrives, but its already loading in the flypad. thanks

I have a problem with passengers in jetways sometimes walking too low, and also often walking outside of the jetway. Is it possible to use the pax waypoint tool to correct passenger movements through the jetway?

Hi everyone! I’ve been struggling with severe FPS degradation over time since SU11. I’ve noticed I only ever get this problem when I’m limited by main thread. The fix for me used to be just lowering both LOD sliders down to 100 however even with all graphics settings now on minimum I am always limited by main thread and in the red. Any suggestions?
there are quite a few videos around that give ideas but they’ve never really worked for me. you might have more luck. the fps battle is real!

Vehicles don't show up for me time to time. What can it be? The menu says, they are on the way, but then they never show up. Even if I wait like 15 minutes. I can't be the only one with this issue. Anybody has a solution? And in these cases, even pushback doesn't work. The characters are standing in one place or slowly moving in one place. The rest of the sequence is completely frozen. If I restart the crocodile engine, that doesn't help either.

@@Easyjetsimpilot And it was NOT GSX! IT IS Microsoft! AGAIN! It took me 2 full days to figure it out, and if I don't use Little Navmap, I probably never find it out. Lucky thing is that LNm and GSX both were frozen at the same time, and after a while I noticed it and I knew that it can't be a coincidence. Okay, so here is the thing. And I think it's really important for everybody who uses Little Navmap or any other application or add-on that needs SIMCONNECT. Because this is a NEW BUG in MSFS since Sim Update 11! Here you go! If you turn ACTIVE PAUSE ON during a flight, MSFS immediately says a fairwell to simconnect, and there is no way back, only restarting the sim itself. So after you turn on active pause, EVERYTHING that used simconnect on your machine loses the connection with the sim. That's why for me, Little Navmap and GSX Pro both stuck. LNm did't show the aircraft's position anymore (and it can't reconnect!), and for GSX Pro, the ground handling vehicles or characters didn't move anywhere, just stood in one place after spawning for the eternity, because they didn't know where my aircraft's position was anymore. And of course, whatever you do in the sim, GSX also can't reconnect, because MSFS has already broken the connection with simconnect.dll. Anyway, the devs of Little Navmap have already notified Asobo about the issue, so hopefully the guys will fix this and then everything goes back to normal. Well... "Normal". It's still Microsoft, isn't it? :) So you never know. But we hope for the best. :) And HAPPY, SUCCESSFUL NEW YEAR TO YOU and everybody who reads this! :)))
A couple problems I have maybe people can help me with?:
No buttons work on the first click on the in-game menu, I have to close the menu and re-open.
The Couatl program crashes midflight and I have to restart it every time I arrive at the gate
I've had this too. I find the desktop tray, right click it and hit 'restart'
Hirrible, paid 30$ for gsx and its useless, too hard to operate! Everytine i start i get message “ parking too small for aircraft” ive watches many videos on how to us eit. Ive tried addding way points for passangers, when i finish and i click enter, everything disappears! Its just awefull
People actually pay for a software that let's you do ALL the work? I got bored and tired at minute one.

Ensure you're engines are off and restart the GSX engine.

True. To be honest, I'll spawn in at a gate, then quickly edit the one I'm at, rather than do a full airport. Takes about a minute once your familiar with it all.

Jeeeezus,..I'd rather spend time enjoying myself flying rather than faffing around with this Editor malarky. Seriously, who on earth pays for such an addon? Obviously some do, so good luck to them is all I say because they've obviously got time on their hands. Lol.
Thanks for the video, but until the devs make it A LOT MORE friendlier, I will keep it uninstalled!!! It was the first addon I purchased for msfs and at that time, almost every time I used it, I would get a CTD!!! I know it's been updated a lot since then, but I STILL consider GSX to be the biggest waste of money I've ever spent. It may be great if you have the time to edit, adjust, download profiles and do all kind of other unnecessary BS, but I prefer to be flying instead of "editing" or "fixing".
I've really come to hate GSX. It's cumbersome sometimes utterly useless. Right now, the updater just keeps crashing. So tired of GSX.

Again, unless you are a UA-camr then setting up these scenarios is simply a very time consuming exercise. If I am correct, and I think that I am, then most people will probably never use the same gate twice & I assume that even if the settings for the gate are saved, which I doubt, how likely is it that somebody wants to use the same airport gate every time they take to the skies? It takes longer to set up GSX than it does to fly from Heathrow to Cairo!!! Id rather forsake all this and get flying. Yes, I get immersion and the reality look but setting this up is simply madness and not even enjoyable to undertake.......well in my opinion anyway.
Many amazing people in the flight sim community have done the hard work for you and created full airport profiles. Most are available on Flightsim.to to download, covering all gates etc. Most payware scenery too now comes with a GSX profile.

Hell Gavin GSX is very poor in my opinion . Do people really need to see people walking towards the aircraft and the work involved is so much. Rather fly
I've found it to be rather awesome. You can setup everything if you want but the default layout it loads is fine for me. It is pretty cool to watch passengers load, get the sounds of them loading and interacting with the cabin crew while full animation baggage loading is occurring outside.
And this all happens automatically in most airports using a jet way. Gavin is going through ALL the options that aren't necessary to mess with.

Yeah, well, no. I gave GSX Pro a second chance a couple days ago. I went through the complete update which was quite lengthy in time, and I made an honest attempt to test and see if it can be an option for me. It had been very unstable and unpredictable, tried a few airports with GSX profiles I got from flightsim.to, sometimes the stuff it offers would work, sometimes they wouldn't. I spent hours and didn't make it work properly at all for a "complete" flight preparation from fueling and boarding to pushback. It would never load my passengers as I see in your videos, although the SimBrief integration was showing green, I couldn't really understand what was doing at any given time, both with Fenix and FBW (the 2 aircrafts I am flying). I spend hours watching videos and reading forum posts, at no avail. Then I read somewhere that GSX breaks the live traffic, which is a no no for me, and that was when I decided to uninstall it.
I have a basic principle in this hobby: if anything, an aircraft, a utility, etc. takes more time to troubleshoot than to use, then it's not worth the trouble.
GSX is a complete waste of time and money IMHO.
you got it backwards: AI traffic injection breaks Simconnect, which in turn breaks GSX, and this is misleading you to assume GSX is “unpredictable”, and no, I’m not saying it’s anybody’s fault, it’s just the sim seems to break down when there are too many objects, regardless who created it, Simconnect starts to break apart, not responding to connections, and even making objects disappear at random. Disabling ground clutter in GSX will reduce the number of objects created by it (on default airports), and lowering AI density will of course make the biggest difference, but the real fix can only come from Asobo.
