A lot of you have let me know that if you are using Davinci Resolve 17 or higher, the CreateBumpMap node does not have a mask input. When you get to 0:58, just skip that step. It won't affect the final result at all. The only reason I did it was to show that the bevel would have the shape of the original text.
Yes, please tell me how to do mask
@@johnratnakarnalli9677 If you attach the CreateBumpMap into the green input of a merge node and add a background that has an alpha channel all the way to the left, you can attach the text into the mask input of the merge and that should solve your problem.
@@jasonavila_camOP_DP_Actor You can create a merge then connect the bump to the foreground and text to the background then also connect text to mask on merge. No extra background needed.
@@jasonavila_camOP_DP_Actor and @JB ATL thanks both of you guys for helping me
@@ATLJB86 thanks for helping me
Totally respect the work put in to make a simple beveled text effect but that's just a f*n INSANE amount of work and steps just to do that lol
I would love it if you could make a video on how you made the matte white background and colors and shadows for the Wingfeather Saga final render. Thanks for the amazing video!
If you right click in the node work area and pick options/Orthogonal pipes. The input and output links work at angles to keep tidy, and you can also pick show hidden pipes, or also pipes always on show. But you probably already knew all this.
Why doesn't my "CreateBumpMap" not have a blue input marker to drag the Text to????

Same here man 😅
Thank you!! Your tutorials are incredibly useful and unique, please keep doing this, I already know some animation concepts with Fusion but this FX world is completely new to me and very appealing too! By the way, the CreateBumpMap mask input is not available in some Fusion Versions, 17 and above, therefore it's not possible to complete the tutorial and get rid of the background. For anyone with this issue you can workaround this by copying/pasting this code into the Fusion grid and it will create a proper BumbMap node with a mask input:
{
Tools = ordered() {
CreateBumpMapFree = MacroOperator {
CtrlWZoom = false,
Inputs = ordered() {
MainInput1 = InstanceInput {
SourceOp = "PipeRouter1_1",

I didn't know that was changed in the newer versions (I really should get around to updating). Your solution definitely works though!
I almost hate to say this, but that step isn't necessary to complete the tutorial. It just helps to visualize the bevel accurately. The brightness/contrast after the displace is what keeps the shape of the original text. It's the same result whether you put the mask in the bumpmap or not.
@@NomadRProductions I'm sorry if I didn't use the right words, I meant "to follow step by step the tutorial", glad to hear it's not necessary. One issue I can't fix is at 3:07 when you plug the MediaIn2, if I do that all I can see in my composition is black, the title disappears, so I'm stuck with the fast noise option. I'm using Studio 17.4.6. Any idea why this is happening? Thanks!!
@@ultralow I had similar issue where by adding an image (MediaIn2) for reflection on the text instead of using FastNoise resulting in no bumpmap on the text at all.
Idk if u still need the solution but I fix this issue by
1. creating a merge node
2. connect mediaIn2 (the text reflection image) to the green triangle on the merge
3. connect a background with alpha set to 0 to the yellow triangle on the merge
You can see nomad did something similar at 3:55
Yo dude this is an awesome tutorial, love it! Got a new sub 😉
Can you make a video on how you did the fire sparks in the first 3 seconds of the video? it looks amazing, I couldn't find any good tutorials on how to replicate that.
So my first reaction to your video was wow! Thanks for sharing. Instantly subscribed. Please don't stop.
Very cool. To get a hammered metal surface look, I used FastNoise and added it as a 2nd bump map to the first one. The intensity was adjusted in the merge node. Not sure if this is the best way, but looks fine to me :D Of course, a stock image would have done it too, but the idea was to use only fusion effects.
Oh my goodness! This was such a great tutorial, thank you!
First! Very helpful tutorial! Could you maybe explain a stranger things effect for the next one?
Thank you! Is there a specific effect from stranger things that you'd like to see?
Yeah recreating the upside down, the portal that leads out of vecnas world or a levitating+bonecracking-effect. Basically any effect that looks cool and unique.
Really nice tut indeed. You make them easy to follow along too, so kudos for that. :) Not many people on youtube have that ability tbh.
I noticed at the very end you said you can do "glows" (@4:38). This is what I've been trying to find a quick tut for so that I, and others can do it to graphic images. Would love it if you have the available time to make one.
can you make a step by step video on how to make "the florid sword" i think it is. anyways love the video!
I must say
This tutorial is AWESOME!
please say what keys you press to do certain things in the video
Press shift+backspace then search same nodes as shown in the video
The master of nodes!
Amazing, your awesome. Thank you!
Such a good technique. Great video, thank you!
This was incredibly helpful I just have one question, Im new to DaVinci Resolve and still dont quite know how it works but how does someone turn this into an intro or a title screen after doing all that stuff in Fusion?
geez! You are amazing!
Fantastic stuff...but, for some reason I can't get rid of the purple background any suggestions?
Thanks
Why is this so hard, Jesus Christ, I've been trying to get it right for more than an hour and it just won't work. You made a tutorial for people who already know how to use Fusion.
1:00 it wont allow me to put the text on the create bump so frustrating i followed all the steps but it turns into a merge and messes up everything
Have you figured it out?
For mac users it's Command + Click
Very impressive video, when i am trying to mask text with bumpmap i cant see mask input on my node. please help
AWESOME!
why I can't connect text to the bumpmap
do you have the tutorial of that one on your intro where the texts appeared through burn-in? like... the texts appears as it burns? all the tutorials I see is burn-out...
Major noob here. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get that select tool menu to pop up in the beginning to search the bumpmap. Would have been nice if you said what keys you were hitting. I tried alt+S, alt+L, and alt+P. Anyway this look like a great intermediate's tutorial.
Finally Figured it out it's Shift+spacebar.
amazing!
Wow.. nice work!
The vid is great, thanks. The only feedback I'd have is maybe add bit more explanation. For example, if Erode/Diluete adds the stripes at 0:50, why do we add Blur before it rather then behind it.
Always great
This isn't for beginner, it took me 20min to understand 20 sec and now I'm lost with the lines 😂 the only way is to low speed the video in slowmo lol
Indeed. There are already too many beginners videos on YT but a massive lack of intermediate to advanced videos on YT.
Thanks~
Note to self: Read comments when mask input missing so you don't go crazy at 0:58 in to tutorial.
I cant connect the text with the bum map?? What am i doing wrong?
Just wanted to say that the metal texture in the description literally doesn't work
Thanks for catching that, I've fixed that link.
Would be very nice if you explained what a create bump map was and didn’t just click keys expecting us to know what you pushed
It’s a node.
In a Mac Book is shift + spacebar
woooow, you bring some value to the table here 🙏 thx!
how did u get that bumpmap?????
my CREATE BUMP NODE DOESN'T HAVE A BLUE TRAINGLE
My createbumpmap node dont have mask input . Any suggestions to fix it ?
I made the lighting effect and a bevel text, I want to combine them together how can I do that? Because nothing is working in fusion with this.
great
I'm not seeing the blue triangle above the CreateBumpMap when I create CreateBumpMap. What am I doing wrong?
Same here
Same! I don’t know what to do
Wow! ...But 0:58 , what should I do if I don't have a blue input in CreateBumpMap1 in Davinci Resolve 18 ?
i have the same problem
I added a merge and that solved it
I have created the text. Now, I want to animate that like in fire particles. Can you teach that?
What is the blue line? How do I find it? I can't find it.
Studio version, I am out of this ship. And misleading thumbnail.
All of my videos I make in the free version of resolve. If you don't see the blue triangle in the createbumpmap, read the pinned comment.
Can you do an updated version
can anyone explain how to get that shadow effect from the first example please.. thanks in advance
How exactly did you create a Bump map, you didn't exactly tell us in this video tutorial Lol and Google is no help at all
By adding a create bump node. And then the erode dialite node to adjust the alpha to change the bevel.
Davinci resolve 18, latest version. wasted my time on this tutorial. I don't have this font, had to figure out all your shortkeys using ten other tutorials, some nods don't connect like in your video, erode doesn't give the looks like you had... just a ton of frustration and no result.
For some reason, I cant get the blue background to go away when creating this with DR 18.
How do I make the background transparent so the titles appear over footage?
It is always transparent if you dont add a background. Just go back to your timeline and place some footage under the fusion composition.
grateful
This does not help because bump map node does not allow me to have multiple connections
ok so hear me out, i have repeated every step and i have issue
1 > which node should i put to media out
2 > the color is not only on the text and is in bg
3 > will it work on png with transparent bg and white text?
help me out guys
Great video :DD Although, why is my bump map a sphere and not a flat surface
also, whenever i connect the bump map into the displace, it disconnects from the erode dialate ((pls help))
how do you remove the background?!
is it possible to put this over another frame?
why is my bumpmap doesnt have effect mask to connect to
he pinned a comment saying you can just skip that step and it won't change the end result. its worked for me
Du hast echt schöne Effekte aber du solltest mal dein Davinci auf V18 aktuallisieren und das Ganze etwas langsamer erklären.
Diese Kommentarsektion ist jetzt Eigentum der BRD.
i don't see mask input for create bump map node.. what should i do?
Don't worry about it. That step is optional. You should get the same result without it. It just helps to visualize the Bevel.
@@NomadRProductions and how to make mask input appear? Please let me know.
It looks like in the newer versions of Davinci Resolve the Bump Map does not have a mask input. You can get around this by adding a brightness/contrast and putting the text into the mask input of that. Then in the settings check multiply by mask.
@@NomadRProductions aah, thank nomad.. i'll try your suggestions. Sorry for my poor English. God bless for u.
Thank you, but how do I make it move like the one you showed us near end?
like the zoom in or like the shadows that moved? for the shadows that moved, idk.
it doesnt worked and now i cant open my davinci resolve anymore :(
I can't seem to get the nodes to connect at the right way. the effects won't work. Have you considered that this might not work with Davinci 18.6 version the same way because I think it doesn't. Ive watched this video several times at stopped every time ive needed to do something. Still I can't seem to get those things to work
what went wrong?
It is too simple but not free... -_-
CAN SOMEONE TELL ME HOW CAN I USE THIS INTRO IN OTHER PROJECT ITS COMING IN RED
app name
Can I use it on a 3d image? I am using resolve 18
I'm not quite sure what you mean by a 3D image. Do you mean like the text 3d?
@@NomadRProductions I mean like a Logo that was made 3d through Davinci Resolve if I work on that with connecting the nodes to the logo's 3d output will it work?
Hey bro
I am having big issues adding the light/shadows into this project.
Also
My text doesn't reflect at all like your does.
And when I add a video to make it reflect from the flames, it practically puts the video into the text.
Okay
It didn’t work so well but I decided to create something different from it which looked even more cool than that.
I can share the results with you somewhere if you want
In the newest version of Davinci there is no blue connector on the top of the create bump map node, is there a way to change this or work around it?
You can just skip that step. It won't affect the final result. Read the pinned comment for more details.

can you make my tittles for a music video I will pay you
what did you use to make this fire effect 4:39
I mean the embers has reflection at the text how did you do that
To make the embers reflect in the text I put the video of the embers into the merge at 3:01. So instead of a random picture it was the embers. That way it would reflect the embers as they passed by.
@@NomadRProductionsi did it but how did you add the background is it just add it on edit or do you have to do something on fusion

@@NomadRProductions thanks mate, subbed!
Bad tutorial for many reasons. Most of the people in the comment sections have issues with your tutorial.
Sorry, but your tutorial lacks a lot. I need to know every step you make, otherwise this tutorial is limited for pro users only. stopped watching on 0:28 second cause I couldn`t follow you.
I'm sorry you had trouble following this. Most of the tutorials on my channel are not geared towards beginners. There are already a lot of great fusion tutorials for beginners out there (I have a whole playlist of them here: ua-cam.com/play/PLCfYqc-R7KYVt_lKGYxg1xmbfsSGE5s0F.html). Some of my tutorials are beginner friendly, but I also want to make some more advanced content.
