Glad they finally released this wonderful Jim Henson gem onto DVD - I have all four seasons and love it to death.. Yet more proof that Jim Henson was a sheer genius - and one who will be missed.
"making a crack at" isn't the same as "acknowledging." All that reference did was show that the two series had similarities. The only people who can make such an "acknowledgment" are the Jim Henson guys. You're basically telling me that Agatha Christie ripped off Arthur Conan Doyle. "Hercule Peroit is just a French Sherlock Holmes! How DARE she make a detective character for her murder mystery novels!"
Simpsons rip-off? If this is a Simpsons ripoff, then the Simpsons were a ripoff of Growing Pains, which in itself was a ripoff of Family Ties, which was a ripoff of... well, you get the point... Sitcoms are sitcoms. Family sitcoms will *always* have elements in common. Just how it is.
Yes everything was a rip off of everything. Sitcoms are just sitcoms, but I couldn’t call it a rip-off. I’d just call it spin off. Sitcoms are taken from other sitcoms, it’s nature. So Dinosaurs can be something combined like the Simpsons and the Muppets together. It’s got the vibe of The Simpson’s but the creative world of The Muppets. Plus of course it’s definitely involving the traditional family in each sitcom. Lots of sitcoms involves families in the first place. The Simpsons, Dinosaurs, Growing Pains, Family Ties, Family Matters, Malcolm In The Middle, Family Guy, even older shows like Roseanne, Full House, Fresh Prince Of Bel Air, even older shows like The Munsters or The Honeymooners. Family sitcoms are just the nature of the world. Nothing is really ripped off, it’s just done properly in a way and Dinosaurs was a typical family sitcom like The Simpsons. So it’s not a rip off. Be grateful that this show was the last show Jim Henson ever did. And it was funny too.
