My reaction was the same as yours Dave. Sometimes you're just amazed at the luck you get racing...but then again quite often we are just as amazed at the bad luck too. It's racing. Great video!
I do like my Vee and Vee at Summit is great. But this magnificent beast... this magnificent beast is just built better. Best car in the service by far right now. So much fun to drive. Great race and great win!
That Damien was asking for the collision the whole way. So many little mistakes clearly flies by the seat of his pants and it came back to haunt him ... Unfortunate for Oier, i'd be raging.
I fully agree with you on this, the Ford Ray is an absolute dream to drive. A bit more tricky with colder tires but as they warm up the car is pretty tolerant in it's handling on the limit (and beyond). I've had so much fun on Summit this week so far, gained almost 400 IR, 8 podiums and 3 wins. It's addictive!
I did the same race last night. Not going the same lap times as you for sure. I qualified on pole with a low 1:18. I led the entire race just to get spun by a back marker re-entry on the last lap. Absolute bummer, but finished second still. This is a fun car-track combo!
Hi Dave, Damien was consistently messy through turn 2, he was hitting the gravel on the outside even when he had the inside line. You taking the outside line against him was courageous but the odds were definitely stacked against you. Apart from that it was an excellent race bud :)
Was a great race. (Ray Andrews is one of my alts) Ryan Chenoworth was sliding all over the track in front of me and I nearly had him a few times bit had to clear the throttle when he wiggled. He did that on the last lap too, and it was enough to put me out of touch when we crossed the line. I was laughing hard at the end though! Grats on the win.
This race was fun to watch from Damien's perspective too. We were hoping you had fun in this Dave, and by the sound of it you did :D Sadly the contact from this race was netcode. A few tires's width of netcode actually, but giga save! Then something something karma as he put a wheel on the grass at the end. Unfortunate for Oier as he got caught by it, but he was a top bloke about it. Giga credits to him, most people would probably and rightfully be proper mad about it. Think he understood it was an accident.
Yes it was just unfortunate. Pushing towards the front on the last lap is always a recipe for carnage. Damien/Davids whinge after his last race was epic 😂
@@davecamyt Hah, you heard that one yeah? 😁 Always stirring the pot if he wants to or not 🤪 Would love to join you guys racing this thing hard, but it's just not for me. Struggle getting lower than high 16's with it. Still good fun though!
That was very lucky at the end, but you deserved it after being punted off earlier. The FF1600 is a real fun car to drive and I like the way it squirms about all over the place. Looking forward to the rest of the races. Keep up the good work. 👍
I often wonder what would happen in iRacing if they made the decision to cap irating based on safety rating, 5.3k with B1.7 means 1 thing, he's a guy who is prepared to sacrifice safety rating in order to gain irating. From my perspective, if you have the pace to be above 2k, you should have enough car control to keep your safety rating in A class. If dropping below A class meant an immediate cap of say 2.5k, the quality of racing at that level could only improve.
Ah Dave, a fellow Authentic Racing Sim Enthusiast (A.R.S.E.) I see using the PROPER shifting technique. Have you considered moving your shifter inboard? Less of a reach. I have mine mounted inside on my TR160 and it falls close to the wheel with enough room for my legs comfortably.
Well that was unfortunate.....for Damien and that other guy. Not a shock. They were were hyper aggressive and Damien wasn't shy about shoving you off ...so hey, Karma paid you back and his back.
Great race Dave, tcan't say these cars are modelled very well. The car modelling looks decent quality but the tyres don't look to be moving and the cars are floating around on the road.
Glad you are enjoying the new FF1600 as much as I am, albeit I have a much more humble iRating. A question though, why have a grids dropped this week in the FF1600 Trophy at Snetterton? There have been a couple of races at least with grid sizes less than 10 with only a single split.
Why didn’t you show that mid race contact was NetCode? You could barely see it in the replay from the camera you chose but it looked like significant NetCode
So Dave, with everything it sounds like you're learning in/about the FF1600 (I paused before even watching the race part of this video to ask this), is there any chance of you maybe doing a video with some tips on how to drive this car quickly? I like a lot of aspects of it, but I find it really difficult to figure out how fast I can enter turns as it seems there's a really fine line between going in too slow and finding yourself looking at where you just came from. I know I could really use some input from an experienced driver like yourself on how to get to a reasonably competitive pace in this car and I wouldn't think I'm the only one having a bit of a hard time with it. For whatever reason I'm having a much harder time getting anywhere close to the limit on corner entry than almost any other car with the possible exception of the Formula Vee which I've never really taken a liking to for similar reasons so there may well be a theme to it. In the Vee, it's mainly the liftoff oversteer that gets me and the FF1600 seems somehow different, but it might boil down to the same basic problem. It's possible that I just need to put in a bunch more time in practice sessions to cause a eureka moment to occur, but if you think you might be able to help myself and others and that a video lijke that might be a decent performer for you making it worthwhile for you to bother with, I would sure appreciate any pointers and insights you could share. The ff1600 sure seems like a car I'd enjoy racing if I could get over the frustrating issue of what feels like I'm just putting my pinkie toe over the line and I go flying off the track. Now back to watching you have a great time with these beasties. Thanks, Dave!
Sometimes I find it quicker to keep the throttle pinned and just dip the clutch. In cats with a dog box you just have to take the load of the transmission so a lift off the throttle would do the same thing without the clutch 👍
@@PaulDuggan you gain very little when your like a B or A class driver in a rookie series but you also loose a ton. I did a race last night on the Mazda combo and only got like 0.03 after only 1 off track incident and a p4 finish lol, but I lost like .13 for getting taken out the race after…
@@davecamyt I think I just fixed a missive mistake is my set up. I had a fair bit of a dead zone in my break by mistake and the car just would not turn in on the corners with light breaking. i cant tell right now three things why this car is not better than formula 2000... first is looks so bad, like a toy, second force feedback, wheel is terible low and third is so easy to drive it super fast. So if you know what are you saying here tell me three things what you think is better?

These cars are surprisingly fun to drive and very controllable. Nice job on keeping your cool and the win.

Gorgeous race! 👏
I’ve been enjoying the Mazda on this track, the racing has been a lot closer and more exciting than last weeks track.

Yes I'm sure netcode played a part. Not a big deal if it wasn't. It's always a risk going through there 2 wide 👍

The only thing I don't like about this car/series is when you're having this much fun the races are far to short.
