The best song from them in years, it rolls back the years.
Probably me most fav Madness song. Beautiful composition haunting melodies and mindful lyrics. Fantastic.
Their music has matured along with them. The song is more solid than some of their earlier stuff and is almost big-band style. Not to say their earlier music wasn't amazing. This just has a less raw and more polished feel to it, and it suits them just as their earlier music suited them being younger and more energetic.
Perfect observation. However I think that in addition, their audience has also matured. A perfect fit.
Re visiting some of their less known numbers, I am in absolute awe, in a way which youth did not allow me to appreciate.

Suggs has a strange power over me. He is a mesmerising frontman. Been fascinated by him since I was a little girl in the 80's and he still holds me amazed now I am 40!

That's an amazing song! Absolutely accurate and subtly realising the spirit of Madness that I love. All grown up and wiser, those cheerful boys who drove me crazy in my 18! That's what the perfect Englishman looks like in my mind.

This classic Madness tune sums up every night club at closing time for many people of both male and female genders.
When I was a teenager back in the 80s i used to listen to madness all the time and I fell in love with them and then, I stumbled across this video, I thought what a lovely song, now I find myself listening again 40 years later. What a terrific band, I wish I could thank them personally for the joy they Gave me.
