Both of my parents were artists and owned art stores while I was growing up and taught oils acrylics etc and they had various instructors over the years. You are one of the best art teachers I have seen in decades. I just want to say thank you for putting these online and I wish you all the best in your endeavors.

These were all things I knew and practiced as a kid. I was so da,m good at drawing in my youth, there wasn't anything I couldn't d4aw. I've started painting again and this has helped draw out my talent again. Thank you, your lessons are precise, not full of any gimmicks and filler. Just good awesome lessons

You are one of the best instructors on UA-cam across the board. I watch a lot of options trading tutorials and cooking videos too. They all waste so much time on non-essential things. I appreciate the way you stick to the core subject and are super detailed with your explanations. I'm super surprised at how well my first sketches are turning out! Thank you Darlene!!!🙂

Wow. I watched multiple videos on this and they helped a lot, but the heads I drew never came out quite as good as they should have. Now watching yours I see they left out some super vital parts: where to chop the sides off on the head, where to find the eye lines, how to draw the actual facial features, how to do the profile face shape so it’s not too round, how to do basic lips etc. it’s things as someone who’s done thousands are next to trivial, but other who are just starting are must know facts. Thank you!

There's quite a few good video tutorials out there on the topic of Loomis method. But after watching your videos it seems like they barely skimmed through the surface. I mean I'm sure a lot of it will eventually become second nature and come naturally without having to draw all the guides... But if one is presenting a topic, it should be done thoroughly. I like how much details you've shown in your tutorials. Good job :) earned a subscriber

I really haven't had the will to practice drawing because of the lack of information that I had and that I was seeing in the videos. For years I have been holing to understand a few simple things that would help me finally get over that hump of connecting the technique to the object drawn. For someone who is just learning to draw you really give good instructions to help me get a general feel of what something should look like to then be able to be more creative. I can follow along and begin to understand the general "guidelines" and then practice it over and over and tweak things to get different faces and features and say hey doing this makes it look like this. Huge help to begin learning. Thanks so much!!

Yes, she did a fantastic job explaining this so plainly. Prolly one of the best explanation I’ve had quite frankly. Cleared up a lot of mystery. I feel like she armed with a special secret weapon for successful portraits now. Lol. I could draw them pretty good for just winging it but it’s really nice to to know how to do it quickly and accurately the FIRST time instead of wasting hours of time drawing and erasing over and over again until it looks right. My only artistic ability is the patience to keep erasing my efforts and trying it again over and over until it looks accurate. That’s it! Lol! That’s my secret. Lol! That’s how I knew I could NEVER do this for a living. I’d bankrupt the company at the rate I produce stuff. I couldn’t be that cruel to any business. Or arrogant. Lol. I did a back portrait that my daughter said was really good. I said it SHOULD, collectively speaking it only took me about a month to do it! If I worked in animation I’d be fired within a week at my rate. Lol

For some reason 99% of the tutorials on youtube ends up with the same face. No new ideas since 1956, Andrew Loomis - Drawing the Head and Hands.
    Good video though, thanks :)

Thats because it's just a guide. With some practice you should be able to add details and develope your own style.

Totally agreed, i personally start from eyes, nose and mouth then i start doing the face. But the good thing about this video is how she explain it, you know step by step, is tedious in a good way, but if you don't know anything about drawing this is a good tutorial, plus she is really patient.

@@amigosdeigor2348 I hope I can find my own style one day.... :( I've been upset about it lately. I'm an artist but my drawing isn't the kind to teach people.

The tutorial is very well explained in detail. My sketches look very perfect . have seen a lot of videos from other artists but not so clear and seems they miss a lot of steps . thank you very much.
