I tried blending with a cloth the other day and it didn’t work for me either! Thanks for testing all these - creating animal fur that way is such a good idea!
Yey My hack made it the last bonus hack I’m happy to send you a video of how I do it. Also I’m going to use the wax pencil resist hack with my watercolor paintings I love it. With soaking the coloured pencils in water I count that only works with crayola pencils. Thank you for another great video and give the cats a scratch from me ❤❤❤
@apicturedpurpose I'll send you a vid on Instagram and if you want I'm also happy to teach you how to paint it's really easy. Thank you for another great video I'm so happy to see how much your chanel is growing 💜💜💜
These hacks were really interesting, my fave was the water with soft pastel one as I haven't found workable fixative yet. My own organisation hack is to use a little rubber band to keep colour combo's together while working on a page.❣
I use Gamsol regularly for oil pastel and colored pencil blending. I’m not a “burnisher” so the Gamsol blending for pencil is great. Plus it saves your hand! 😀
Fun video! For hack number one: I recently got two Sakura Koi water-based colorless blenders. I just tried them yesterday to activate/blend out my Albrecht Durers on an Eriy page. I think they work great! No bleed thru and no alcohol ink spread. They do lift up the color a little bit, and I noticed that it was a bit harder to add pencil shading over top vs when I just used water. But I really like them for some teeny details. Reduces the amount of water I need to put on a page!
So fun trying new things out! I’ve done the plastic and markers before and it really helps if you spray the colors with some water. Then you can move the color around with your fingers (on top of the plastic). It’s super messy, but fun. Thanks for sharing ☺️
Hi Kyra! I'm so glad you found success with my hack (soaking cheap pencils)! I love your videos and you inspired me to try working with pencils and more intricate pages, even though I usually color "bold and easy" style pages. Speaking of which, I can't wait for the next alcohol marker patterns video!
Thanks so much for such a fun video! For the watercolor/watercolor marker transfer technique try watching some videos about "ink smooshing". Using more water and a firmer piece of acetate should give better results. It's a fantastic technique once you get the hang of it. 1:56
I get excellent results when blending pastels with petroleum jelly. Apply a thin film of petroleum jelly to the end of a Q-tip, blend pastel colours, and allow to dry.
A couple more hacks for you to try. Blu tak also works like a kneadable eraser. The craft knife hack works the best for an animal whiskers and try putting the marks with the knife 1st then colour over them. The pencil under the watercolour is a perfect technique for the light wispy clouds we get. Maybe even the jet stream too.
Great hacks! I've been using petroleum jelly, Vaseline as it's known in the states, and a q-tip to blend. The trick is to use a wee little bit of Vaseline. I find it works really well and doesn't damage the paper or cause a lot of bleed through. Don't glob it on, just gently dip the q-tip. The toothbrush hack for splatter turned out beautifully. I'm getting ready to attempt a galaxy background and that hack is perfect for my upcoming project.
Thankyou for this tutorial Kyra is was very helpful to see you testing out different mediums 😊 I love the craft knife technique for creating animal fur. I learn so much from you 😊🌼🌺🥰
Hi i was watching and noticed you used an alcohol blender to blend the water based pencles. There are water based blenders like the tombow wich work better for this technical application.
Thank you for showing us those tricks and technics! 😊. For me, the kneaded eraser is not a hack, it was made to lift graphite or pigments. No disrespect intended. Yesterday, out of despair, tried it with acrylic pens.. it worked! But the paper had no tooth, very smooth. Works with soft pastels (not oil). For blending, I often use the Finesse colored pencil blender pen. It’s probably water-based because it didn’t go through the paper. I recently discovered that the Sakura brand produces something similar under the product line « Koi ». It’s written on it « coloring brush pen-water based, dyestuff ink. Doesn’t go through paper. I tried both with Amazon paper. I used Nice Little Town by Tatiana Bogema (or Bogena?) and the Winter book by Rita Berman. Having arthritis and fibromyalgia, it’s a pain saver. I want to specify that I only apply a thin layer. So I don’t know what would happen with many layers or applied with a heavier hand. The pencils I used were Black widows, Prismacolors and Castle. Have you tried either of these Kira and/or someone else?
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I always find it so interesting to hear what works for others. My favorite pencil brand for thinner paper are my Arrtx. They are the perfect in my opinion because they’re not too hard but also not too soft. Hopefully that helps! 🥰
I've not tried using a colorless blender to blend out watercolor pencils. But I have seen other coloring enthusiasts use the marker with traditional oil or wax based pencils, and their results did vary according to the paper of the book. Books with better quality paper did better.
Use neat vodka to blend. No smell. Not for drinking. A bottle brush (not tree) gets great various effects with splashing etc😂 greetings from a very hot South Africa.
Hi Kira, great hacks! For number 10, try spritzing the ink with water before applying it to your paper. It is such a great technique!
I was about to say the same thing.... it need's to be sprayed with water 1st.. using the marker as well as the watercolour.... 😊
You can also try the alcohol colourless blender with you're prisma colour's and poly's as well x😊
I obviously missed that step when I found the hack 😅 I’ll have to try it out again! 💕
I tried blending with a cloth the other day and it didn’t work for me either! Thanks for testing all these - creating animal fur that way is such a good idea!
I’m so glad I’m not the only one haha. And yes, the animal fur back is so good 🥰🌈

I would love to see that! 🤩🌈 I will definitely give the cats some love 🥰

I love that tip! So simple but useful 🤩💖

That’s a great tip! I’ll definitely have to get my hands on some gamsol! 🤩

Greetings from Austria 🇦🇹
Thank you so much!! Lots of love from Australia! 🇦🇺❤️
Spray the water based markers with a fine mist of water before transferring it to the paper.
That’s a key point she missed

Yes, it would work so well if the plastic was sprayed with water xx
Thank you for the tip! I’ll definitely need to look into that 😍💖

I’ll have to try that! It sounds very interesting 🧐 Have the best time playing with the splatter effect ✨🌈

I will have to give a water-based blender a try. Thanks for the tip! 🙏✨

“If all goes to………poop.” 😂😂😂
Me trying to keep myself PG for UA-cam 😅❤️

I’ll definitely have to try out the alcohol marker with standard pencils! Thanks so much for the recommendation 🤩🌈
i like using the alcohol marker trick to blend regular colour pencils
That would be very interesting to try! I’ll give it a go 😍✨
I’ve never seen people use alcohol markers with watercolour pencils. It’s always the tombow water based blending marker
Ohh that’s a great idea! I’ll have to get my hands on that marker 🤩🌈
Great video! Now you need to show us the extra hacks😊
I definitely do 😅❤️
Use neat vodka to blend. No smell. Not for drinking. A bottle brush (not tree) gets great various effects with splashing etc😂 greetings from a very hot South Africa.
That’s a really smart tip! Thanks for sharing 🤩✨
Gamsol is odorless
Try tooth pick great for wax pencils
Great job testing out these hacks!! 👏👏
I’m so glad you enjoyed them! 💖
@apicturedpurpose 🤗😍
Used drry paint btush for smothh blend or make-up brushes
Well that's my weekend plans sorted, testing out hacks! Thanks for another fun video Kyra
Yay! Have the best time 🤩💕
Like try things using my old don't work for new ways
Instead of scraping with a knife, I've seen people use a small/thin eraser to remove some of the coloured pencil, and create that texture.
Ohh I love that idea 😍✨
Even old pen don't ink work great for detail
Putting the pencils short time in the water is like the oldest trick. 😅
I obviously missed that bandwagon 😅💖
I Will be trying oil pastels with Oderless spirits
Let me know how it goes 🤩💖
