Yahama placed it there to keep it cool. The horn is separate issue as they could have placed in better position than “dangling” on headlights mount so hard is it to face it forward or something.
I agree with the fuel thing. Full tank then 3,2,1 bars pretty quickly. Tank is supposed to be 14 litres but even when I've filled up on 1 bar flashing, it has never taken more than 10 litres and you can still hear plenty sloshing about. Love the bike in general though, it's such good fun.
Quadlock has a bracket bit that attaches to pretty much any phone case. Way strong enough to never worry about it coming off. I've tried, it wont come off at all.
I agree with all of your dislikes, the one that you didn't mention was steering lock. That said, the only bike I've ever owned that is better than this was a 1250 GS but it wasn't no way near as much fun. As you say the fuel tank guage on the MT-09 is not good. that space had to be allocated for the tank to be increased to 16 liters! By the way, the handlebars don't shake when you accelerate because many people complain . At the gas indicator, I noticed that the ECU can be reprogrammed and modified to indicate correctly
The gas gauge is so stupid, idk why they insisted on doing it that way. Once it drops down to half, I swear I have an hour max of riding until it runs out.
Always a possibility. But my bank is 100% secured so I’m not to worried about that. Plus they give out phones for free nowadays:) but….. you have a valid point. Thanks for watching the channel.
The only dislikes I have with mine are the lack of a windshield, the fuel gauge is the dumbest thing ever, it's 2022 my turn signals should shut themselves off.. oh and I had to ride my ninja 400 5 hours to trade in for my MT..
@@yamayari8351 I rode from Des Moines Iowa to Jefferson MO, back in may when it was still like 40 degrees out haha it sucked but I wanted the one with the blue wheels and that was the closest to me..😁
nice video, arguments about horn and no cap... not even because such things at bike visible in showroom, do you like it or not??? then don't buy it. I totally agree with you on other points so anyone who buys a bike for the most part for engine 3 cylinders powerful, fun and just hooligen machine otherwise you buy Honda for well finished motorcycle but boring
Guess ur lucky that u got one haha. I was also lucky to get one, I called the dealer and they said we got one on our way, so I bought it without test driving it lol, one of the best buys. I already miss driving it, but its pretty cold now tho..
The gas gauge is retarded but it doesn't bother me. I fuel according to the gas light anyway. Habit from my 2020 HD Iron 1200 with no gas gauge. I like the fact it starts to count your low fueI mileage automatically. I usually reset a trip meter on other bikes. agree with the horn and will be moving it eventually.
I could live with the things you don't like. What I couldn't live with is the plastic brake master cylinder reservoir perched on top of the bars like an afterthought. My Kawasaki's the same. Suzuki use low profile black alloy ones which blend in. I saw a youtube vid from an MT09 owner who took a dislike to the horn. He bent the mounting to make the horn sit edgeways.
Yes I’m not a fan of the master cylinder as well. It looks really bulky. Even on my R3 it was a nice square box Blended very nice with the bars. Not sure why they went this route maybe it was because of the supply chain issues that we are currently experiencing. But I actually like my horn location. On the 2020 an up MT07 it’s basically in the same exact position. So not sure why people do not like where I relocated it. Oh well. Thanks for watching the channel. And I agree with you I could live with those issues but I just don’t like them.
@@yamayari8351 I don't dislike your horn relocation, I meant bending the bracket is a quick and easy alternative for anyone else who dislikes where it is. As for the plastic brake reservoir - Probably more down to cost saving than supply issues. Every bike I've owned had a plastic one except my old 2009 Suzuki Bandit 1250. My 2018 Z1000SX is similar to yours only less conspicuous with the fairing. I camoflage it with a black towelling sock with Ninja embroidered on it. Yamaha should pay more attention to the minor yet annoying details you mention.
Hi bro, I'm having just the same setup here in cold and frozen Europe. Right pronunciation "Akrapovič" sounds sweet to my ears...👍 the rectifier should be exposed to fresh air due to cooling. Unfortunately the placement is from technical perspective well chosen. ✌️

Was in the exact same dillema (greek version of word). Went with the MT-09 SP. Because it is an ultra fun bike. Its cheaper with lower running costs, has IMU, radial master cylinder (this is fixable ofcourse in gsxs). Also i believe i can become better rider on the MT (Moto jitsu, california bike school n stuff). Lastly If I dont like it i can just sell it the next day and go on to buy a gsxs. If you go with gsx-s let me know! I believe for naked bikes atm they are the two real world choices
Good points my friend I think Yamaha kind of rushed it up with the design of this bike since it was on pandemic time and they had to catch up with European emission for 2021, the most is bothering me is that empty space in engine area and I like the name “black hole” 😂👌💙
I really dislike quadlocks. I think they’re grossly overrated. I don’t care for the RAM mounts either and that was my go to for years. I removed all phone mounts and keep it in the pocket.
I did that for a long time. But I hate things in my pockets. But the ram for now works the best for me. Thank you for watching and all the great feedback. Means a lot 🙌
😂 the black hole is eye catching once you see it I agree. The Horn was easy. An relocation is definitely a must for me lol ride safe and thank you for watching the Channel.
After market infill panels solve half of your dislikes, but yes, Yamaha should have done a bit better. However, they are probably cost cutting measures.
Yeah, why put the regulator in the air stream?? Why not put it right next to a hot engine? Can't imagine why they'd do that (hint, hint)! Seeing that dinky regulator makes me glad it's out there. I guess you're a function follows form guy 🙃
I’m not sure if your trying to insult me but, it’s just my opinion. I truly think it could have been strategically better placed. Thank you for watching the Channel friend. Ride safe.
Lol well apparently I was out the loop. In some states they have to have a charcoal canister for emissions. Apparently that is where it’s located in the areas that need it. So now I’m kind of happy I have that big gap ha ha!
When I saw what they were doing to the appearance of the MT-09 for 2021, I rushed to the dealer and bought a black 2020 MT-09. No gaping hole through the engine, no "lost in space" headlamp, and I actually love the look of the 2020's extended license plate arm over the back wheel, it extends the appearance of length of the bike a bit and gives a black MT-09 the "Batcycle" look. I also kept the original side mirrors, which I think look way cooler and are certainly way more functional than tiny little drop mirrors, same with the original lights (my life is way more valuable than squid mods). Also leaving the exhaust alone, as the rest of the bike really proves that Yamaha actually knows what it's doing and those ridiculously expensive exhaust mods produce nothing more than an extra 5hp - which on a 115hp bike, is truly pointless (the original exhaust is also flush and cool looking and doesn't require a new odd-looking pipe hanging off the side of the now unbalanced bike). Modding the exhaust of an MT-09 reveals that it was the MT-10 that should have been purchased in the first place. Though I did add a radiator grill guard to protect from rocks and armored-up bugs, a more comfortable seat, the optional quick shifter kit, a GIVI windshield, and cruise control, none of those really changed the appearance of the bike. Nor did I want to, because it was already totally badass.
Thank you for all the input. And the reasons why you did not want it. I do agree with most of your post but I really love the new look a lot. But I do love the previous GEN as well. They’re both great bikes. I’m happy that you like yours and thank you for watching the channel.
Simple engineering put the rectifier on the side because complicated engineering would have put the rectifier in the baking hot environment above the transmission where it won't cool and it will fail. Surprised you didn't whine about the size of the instrument display. It's so tiny and with the reversed colors it's hard to read in the sun/dust. It's pathetic. Look at Ducati, BMW, Aprilia, KTM, Triumph..... you could read those displays in full sun from a 747.
I like the rectifier where it is. It goes with the stripped down look.

Lol if I could have justified it I would have picked up the SP. But the way I ride? The MT standard is just perfect.
Cycle Cruza...LETS GO FOR A RIDE!! 😂😂😂
Lol that’s my dude 🙌
@@yamayari8351 facts!
that space had to be allocated for the tank to be increased to 16 liters! By the way, the handlebars don't shake when you accelerate because many people complain . At the gas indicator, I noticed that the ECU can be reprogrammed and modified to indicate correctly
Great feedback my friend. I will look into it. Thank you and ride safe.
how can you program it that way?
@@smolbodybuilder1602 sorry. What specifically?
@@yamayari8351 how can you reprogram the ecu?
@@smolbodybuilder1602 ohhhh. You have to remove it and send it out to be flashed. Or if you have someone local that can Dyno test and tune your bike.
nice movie
Thank you 🙏 ride safe!
The gas gauge is so stupid, idk why they insisted on doing it that way. Once it drops down to half, I swear I have an hour max of riding until it runs out.
That’s actually pretty accurate lol thanks for the heads up.
J Leno said never trust a bike you can’t see through
lol 😂 classic point of view.
Now when that mount drops your phone you will lose your phone and wallet.😂
Always a possibility. But my bank is 100% secured so I’m not to worried about that. Plus they give out phones for free nowadays:) but….. you have a valid point. Thanks for watching the channel.
The only dislikes I have with mine are the lack of a windshield, the fuel gauge is the dumbest thing ever, it's 2022 my turn signals should shut themselves off.. oh and I had to ride my ninja 400 5 hours to trade in for my MT..
Wow! From what state to what state?
@@yamayari8351 I rode from Des Moines Iowa to Jefferson MO, back in may when it was still like 40 degrees out haha it sucked but I wanted the one with the blue wheels and that was the closest to me..😁
nice video, arguments about horn and no cap... not even because such things at bike visible in showroom, do you like it or not??? then don't buy it. I totally agree with you on other points so anyone who buys a bike for the most part for engine 3 cylinders powerful, fun and just hooligen machine otherwise you buy Honda for well finished motorcycle but boring
T shirt 😶...I always wear all my gear because I ride like madman 🤣
Lol I got to work on Monday. So I go slow lol
The blank space is for a turbo 😎
Lol 😂 so true!
My vstrom 1000 is the same with the gas gauge
Guess ur lucky that u got one haha. I was also lucky to get one, I called the dealer and they said we got one on our way, so I bought it without test driving it lol, one of the best buys. I already miss driving it, but its pretty cold now tho..
Congratulations! Ya man, I put a deposit before I even sat on it lol thank you for watching
Fortunately Yamaha came up with a new XSR900, for anyone who appreciates looking at his CP3 machine without vomiting.
It always scares me when I see guys riding without wearing proper gear
I’m trying to be better lol my bad :) just sooooooo Hot in Florida. But I’ll do better in time.
Only thing i hate on my MT09 is that i had to wait 6 months for my order.
Definitely would hate that!
It's in 3:55 your head.
@@85waspnest ohhhh got you. Yes makes sense. Sorry for my misunderstanding. I’ll look into that. Thanks 🙏
Hi bro, I'm having just the same setup here in cold and frozen Europe. Right pronunciation "Akrapovič" sounds sweet to my ears...👍 the rectifier should be exposed to fresh air due to cooling. Unfortunately the placement is from technical perspective well chosen. ✌️
Bro I’m sure it’s cold! Here today is 82 and sunny. Yet I’m stuck working 💔 an I have been practicing my pronunciation lol 😂 glad I sound a little better lol true. I guess I never realized how hot it can get. So it makes sense. Thank you for watching the Channel 🙏
That is one nice bike, luv it! I am thinking MT09 or GSX S 1000....I love both...decisions decisions
Both are good bikes for sure 🙌
Was in the exact same dillema (greek version of word). Went with the MT-09 SP. Because it is an ultra fun bike. Its cheaper with lower running costs, has IMU, radial master cylinder (this is fixable ofcourse in gsxs). Also i believe i can become better rider on the MT (Moto jitsu, california bike school n stuff). Lastly If I dont like it i can just sell it the next day and go on to buy a gsxs. If you go with gsx-s let me know! I believe for naked bikes atm they are the two real world choices
@@papamichailang very good feed back. Thank for the tip and info. Both bikes look amazing and fun for sure. Ride safe.
Good points my friend I think Yamaha kind of rushed it up with the design of this bike since it was on pandemic time and they had to catch up with European emission for 2021, the most is bothering me is that empty space in engine area and I like the name “black hole” 😂👌💙
Lol 😂 it has a nice ring to it. Thank you for watching the Channel 🙏 an I agree. Some things were rushed for sure.
That black hole is filled on California bikes with emissions hardware.
@@ver2cal2010 mmmmm not sure I like that either lol thank you for watching the Channel 🙏
I don't like being dooped for assembly jobs I didn't apply for
10 de 10 tu moto , saludos 🇨🇴
I really dislike quadlocks. I think they’re grossly overrated. I don’t care for the RAM mounts either and that was my go to for years. I removed all phone mounts and keep it in the pocket.
I did that for a long time. But I hate things in my pockets. But the ram for now works the best for me. Thank you for watching and all the great feedback. Means a lot 🙌
Gen 2s look way better and don't have any of the issues you said lol I have a 2019 and it's beautiful
I almost bought a 2020, an I agree. Classic look! Love it as well.
With the gap it's more like an empty-09
Lol 😂
"That space there" 😀🤣
I like the ram better its faster and easier
I never noticed the ‘black hole’ om my bike but now it’s gonna bother me… aaaand i’m definitely moving my horn
😂 the black hole is eye catching once you see it I agree. The Horn was easy. An relocation is definitely a must for me lol ride safe and thank you for watching the Channel.
Another yari video🤘🏻
Thank you for watching 🙏 means a lot.
wow man, if you're such an insightful engineer, why dont you go work for yahama
I wish! I promise the front headlight assembly would look soooooooo much better lol but I appreciate your compliments 🙏🙌❤️ ride safe.
After market infill panels solve half of your dislikes, but yes, Yamaha should have done a bit better. However, they are probably cost cutting measures.
Very true and good point. Thank you for watching the Channel. Means a lot.
Ride safe.
@@yamayari8351 Insult? No. Regulators get hot. The hotter they get, the shorter their lives. It's not all about looks.
The things you “hate” are pretty trivial
👌🏻😘
I don’t like them either. 🤷🏻♀️
Maybe you shouldn't buy a naked bike so you don't have to complain about shit showing
True, very truede. Or I can just own one and complain anyway lol thanks for watching 🙏
When the gas light comes on you still have 1 gallon
Yeah man. Wtf that gap heheheh My MT07 has a small gap too and never bothered me but NOWWWWW hahahahaha
I’m happy that you like yours and thank you for watching the channel.
new gen is so much better
2020 has a smaller engine tho 🤷
Give us more rhymes!
This phone mount will destroy your iPhone's camera. Search: vibrations OIS issues.
Will do, Thank you for the info, I thought it was only newer iPhone. I'm still rocking the iPhone 10. But I will research it. Thank you
That fuel gauge issue happens on many bikes.

Shoot me a message maybe we can ride some day
Letzzzzz Goooooo hit me up on insta messenger.
Very true. The screen is small. But bright, so it helps.
