Since you choose MT09 for the 3rd time, you seem to be indeed keen on this model, why not get yourself a higher performance SP version with superior Ohlins cartridge in a golden tube and rear full adjustable Ohlins shock, plus a very handy cruise control function.
Because he doesn’t need it 😀 if he didn’t found any issues with the Suspension in previews models why would bother on this one . However I understand your point
I bought the exact same MT09 just a few months ago. The second gen is so much nicer, with TCS if we are on edge and you don't want to die. The headlight looks angry making it the best so far. The blue color is just awesome in the sun, making it the eye catcher for the ladies. I love it so far, this summer going for a holiday in germany, gonna open the throttle on the autobahn!
I recently moved from a 2008 Kawasaki KLR (you loved that bike :)) to a 2019 Yamaha Tracer 900. Holy crap! You are spot on regarding the torque, desire to rip my arms off and all things fantastic about that triple! I am so in love with more than quadrupling my horsepower! Looking forward to more videos!!!!!
I almost bought this bike. A 2020 model. Even went to the dealer, sat on it, did my homework. Then covid hit and I had to put off buying a bike for awhile. When I did buy a bike last year, I ended up getting a Honda CB500X. I was worried about the power and what not, but I wanted a comfortable bike that I could ride for hours. Ended up being the best bike I've owned!!! Never thought a sub 500cc motorcycle could be so much fun, and I've done several weekend trips with it. That being said, I do think a 650 or 700cc version would be the perfect bike for me.
Great video because of the thought process you put into it 👍 The make\models don't really matter but I went from a Ducati Multistrada 1200 DVT to a Versys 650, no crashes involved just a change of country. What a smile on my face with the little Kawi, I can ride it full throttle, fell like 'I know how to ride it', it puts a smile on my face every ride... The Multistrada was a brilliant bike but I could never do it justice (not good enough), so like your 3rd MT09, I have found a happy place 😎😉 Just wondering if an MT09 might be the next Versys for me LOL!
I bought a brand new Triumph Tiger Sprot 660 in june. I was originally curious about the Trident 660, but heard about the Tiger Sport. After trying it, I fell in love with it I've tried sport bikes and other brands, but love my Tiger more and more the more I ride it.
The biggest grower I've owned (stop laughing at the back) was my 2009 Kawi Versys 650. I got the bike after a series of short-lived bike changes, and it felt like an anti-climax. The two bikes before it were big, loud, shouty cruisers with wide pipes and lots of character. Next to them, the Versys was extremely bland. However, before them I had a V-Strom 650, and that was an incredible bike. The Versys was faster and more agile, sure, but it was also way less comfortable and the parallel twin lacked character compared to the V-twin in the Strom, so it even felt like a downgrade from that too. However, I swapped the massive riot-shield windscreen it came with for a nice little short, tinted number, which somehow made the bike feel so much more agile and nimble purely by placebo. Then I put an aftermarket can on it. And boom, literally overnight it was a fun bike to ride, with character and enjoyable shifting. It was always competent at what it did, but now it was enjoyable too. And then a couple of weeks later I got hit by a car and the Versys was shrapnel all over the road, and me along with it. Typical.
hope you are doing well now man, hoping for the best for you!! i currently own a vstrom 650 and i love it, was considering selling it for a versys but now i think i will keep my vstrom until i can get myself an fj09 and/or a bmwr1250gs you get another bike? ride safe dude!
@@ag096 Hey man, thank you, I appreciate that. I did indeed get another bike, I've got a Triumph T100 Bonneville now which I (very occasionally) made videos on over on my channel. And with your Vstrom, I'd personally keep it over a Versys yeah. The Versys does handle better, and is probably faster, but the Strom is the nicer bike in my opinion. And it's even great on fuel, I had a camping trip here in the UK, put fuel in it in Wales and road all the way back to the West Midlands in England, fully laden with panniers, tent on the seat etc, then drove to work the next morning, and then finally filled up on the way home that night. Can't go wrong with that.
I had a 09 to 2014, this is really a great bike ! But I agree with you… the headlight of the 2018 is so amazing ! I don’t paid my bike so much and only 14k Kms the only reason I keep them ! Nice vid 👌🏻
I will be totally honest with you, I went through all the "growing up stages" of riding, going from off road bikes as a young child, to having 50cc's at 16, 125cc at 17 (UK) and getting my first big bike being a 08 Kawasaki ER6N (still love that bike to this day and would definitely get another when you consider a cheap bike that is amazing for city riding and racking up a couple miles on the motorway, but the 1 big downfall is pins and needles on long rides so they do need a handlebar change over) and I found my way to a MT09, besotted by it's looks, the way it sounds, and the boxes it ticks under my preference of what I want out of a bike to inevitably being a bike I love, and being a bike I hate! The throttle is by large a awfully horrible thing to live with, its absolutely and totally just crap! trying to do two up with that throttle is a hard task and puts it in the category of worst bike for pillions. Then we have its clutch, ohhhh the joys of having a clutch that makes more noise than the exhaust, feels like its going to explode every damn time you turn it on (new rubber replacement on the clutch basket is the fix) but it happens, and keeps happening so you end up having to live with it or constantly change the rubbers over just to escape that horrible clunk and rattle. Then we have the 90+ wobbles, the ones where it makes you question yourself why you even ride the damn thing, not to mention how death defying they are over 100mph, there is no comfort, smooth sailing riding, it is a bike that can't handle those speeds. Sure you can do it, and being a good rider makes all the difference, but it still doesn't change the fact the bike is a total pile of crap post motorway speeds. So with a bad throttle, a awful clutch design, a bike that is useless for pillions, and unsafe post motorway speeds, what's actually left on it that makes it worth keeping? Because lets face it, the truth is this, it is an amazing engine chucked into a really cheap frame, literally exactly what it is! So here is the good parts about it..... the engine, list over lol not a joke, actually the truth, but I have to make the list a bit longer, so here goes.... the upright position, it is good for long distance riding as it isn't a burden on your arms and wrists, it has a great 0-60 time, it is so badly put together it is fun providing danger is your name, it comes up in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, gear. And finally it sounds ridiculously nice, oh and looks nice. Oh and the fuel bill on them is good too, I travel an hour each way daily on the motorway for 98% of the journey and it costs me around £12 for 2 hours solid motorway riding, it can go up and down depending on how gentle or how heavy you are on the speedo so the ball park figure is £11-15. So in a nutshell, if you want a bike that is lightweight, easy to throw around, and want something that screams danger, you would enjoy the MT09. If you want a bike that is smooth, predictable, good on corners and good at holding speeds you really do need to look elsewhere. If you are after a wheelie machine, and by wheelie machine I mean proper wheelies where you hit balance point, steer clear of the MT09 and go directly to the MT07 (which is the superior bike of the entire range by far, should of got that myself and I am kicking myself daily for it) If you are Mr Grandad wheelie who just enjoys getting the wheel up then the MT09 will put a smile on your face as the snatchy throttle and balance point being so far back on the MT09 makes it an awful wheelie machine, despite many saying it's great for wheelies... here is the proof go check the stunt riders and see which MT they are using! So to wrap up my essay, MT09 good bike? NO! it's absolutely horrible with so many reasons why, but I still love it and will continue to love it even though I hate it... I know I make a lot of sense! Get one and you will sound just as stupid as I do ;) again I should of got the MT07, really should of! But I fell into the stupid trap of I want something bigger.
My XR650L was one that I've had a love/hate relationship with. Then when it was time for me to move with my family, I was going to sell it. But when I road it around, to take it to the self serve carwash, I couldn't stomach it. I was thinking about the prospect of it being my last ride, as I listened to my exhaust crackle in the downshifts, I that was it. Not gonna happen.
I learned to ride on a Suzuki GS1000S (with clip-ons!) when I was 18 ... and survived. I kept it for the better part of 15 years and then got a Honda XL500 which I used to go on a trip ; overland from Belgium to South Africa (1 year trip, 30.000km) These are the bikes I remember best. I now ride a BMW R1200R. It's good and reliable.... It's also boring. 🙂
For anyone owning a Gen 1. Kemi moto make a really stylish LED replacement light. I had one on my Mt07. Best upgrade ever. Also makes riding in the dark wwaaaaay better
I came off of super sports also but now I just want a fun street bike so I bought a 19 mt09. Haven’t really had time to really try it because of winter. I hope I love it and not regret it
Please review an XSR-900, its basically a mt-09 but i think the aesthetic changes and some subtle changes in the throtle response (so i've heard) would make a pretty entertaining video
I actually had the opposite. Always wanted a new triumph rocket 3. Finally bought one and after 2 months I’m ready to sell it. I love the bike but the things I want to do to it cost as much as another bike. Definitely an amazing bike but riding it as my daily has become a chore and think it’s time to sell or trade it in
I rode a Duke 390 2015 for 5 years. And also own a husky fe plated dirt bike. Found my self riding more freeways so went to a mt07 2021 a couple of years ago. I am an old lady and Prefer upright bikes, handles so well on freeways. Maybe one day I will be ready for Mt09.
Have you ridden the 3rd gen MT-09? From pictures I didn’t like the front, but it looks so much better in real life. And after riding it you will never want to go back to a previous gen, it handles corners soooo much better than the 1st and 2nd gen
Third gen 09's seem to be having quite a few teething issues after the engine overhaul. Fueling issues causing the bike to cut off white riding and bad vibration issues are the two big ones I see mentioned the most. And the new chassis' seem delicate. Saw where one guy ran off the pavement, didn't ram in to anything and the headstock snapped off the frame. It's not looking great for the third gens just now.

I've had 1st gen and I now own the 2022 MT09 and I must say there is a huge improvement over both 1st and 2nd gen, best thing about it is the wheelie control & auto blipper! 🤌
After having seven different bikes including a DRZ400sm, R6, triumph street triple, R1, I am back on a modded DRZ400sm. MT09 is a bucket list though and I have spent enough time on a borrowed one to know id love it. Always torn between it and another street triple though. Thanks for great content as usual. Cheers
I was a bit late to the motorcycle world, ie: 32 years old. That's because I needed a place to live, and buying a bike would have ended that. At least that's what my mum told me! I have had only five bikes since then though. I love MotoGP and Superbike racing so I have an affinity for Sportbikes. I currently own two. Both bought new. A 2001 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R and a 2010 BMW K1300S, and I love them both. However, at 64 years young, I am starting to think that I might want something a little more relaxed. So at this time I'm open to suggestions! I love your videos, just wish you posted more and more consistently. Keep up the good work. Cheers 🍻 from Canada 🇨🇦
I have the same with the Street Triple, I'm on my 3th one now with a few bikes in between every other year. I even had an MT-09 but I hated the seating position and suspension (although I fixed that with a hyperpro street box). I miss the powerful engine of the MT09 but the Street is so much faster and more stable around corners.
My road bikes started on an RD125 then a TZR125 YPVS then back to the RD250 then a RD350 YPVS. The a Reverse Cylinder TZR 250 with 350 barrels . Then a RGV 250 then the first R7 the R1 . With ZX7RRs & ZX12R
Really like your videos, keep up the good work! I still own my first big bike for 8 years now, a 2011 Yamaha XJ6 naked, a absolute joy to drive. Only my ass doesn't like the long drives. To have some extra fun I also drive a 140cc honda monkey that I have for 15 years. Keep making great videos! Greetings from Belgium
My headspace on my first (new) bike was my cbr500r and almost immediately i wanted more powah! But i got used to it and learned to corner on it (for 1.5yrs). Strangely i bought a Versys 650 next which only had like 15-20ish more horsepower but that seems to be enough to soothe my power thirst (l o l - i guess im not really that thirsty). Oddly though i wish it handled more like a sportbike…. It took some time to realize that bikes can be cornered in a variety of ways and deep leans is not the be all end all. Also my back doesn’t hurt, im comfortable to ride all day aaand BAGS! BAGS FOR DAYS! My headspace changed to match the logic that my brain knew the Versys offered….i just had to give it time 😊
Have you seen the new triumph street triple? The entry Triple R is honestly looking like really good bang for buck and a bit different iteration of the sick triple engine. Would be cool if you could test ride one and compare it to the MT. Much love from Puerto Rico dude
My dad has the same issue with GS’S, he had a cast wheeled one but sold it for a K1200S, got a second one which was spoked wheels and had to sell it, then got a 2017 GS and sold it in 2020 cause it got too heavy for Him, and he still wants another one 😅
Excellent video, thank you very much. Have you tested the KTM Duke 790/890? Looking to get back into some bigger bike action again, after few years into Vespa mode, MT09 & Duke 790 and Yamaha Mt09 both 2019 models are battling it out... (I had a Gixxxer K8 1000 and HS1200 before, but they are too big/serious, all I want is some fun
With the knowledge that in south Africa you drive on the left hand side of the road it makes me wonder. As a motorcycle rider how do you (or do you) use the motorcyclists greeting when riding? In the United States the greeting is your left hand extended outward with your index and middle fingers only extended. This greeting is basically saying be safe. In south Africa you'd have to use your right hand for another motorcyclist to see it.
Last year l bought 13 bikes and it was quite fun but this year l had only 9 of them... Am l getting old or what? Each bike had its qualities so l can't decide... Last month l bought my 185th bike and l think that that's it, l'm gonna keep it till march, that's for sure. Or l'm gonna change it one more time in this season..? I'll see. Have fun buying! Changing bikes is so addictive. Cheers!
My 2022 MT09 has grown on me. At first I didn't like it and wanted an GSX-S 1000 or MT10 but couldn't afford it new. A good in used condition was hard to find and so I bougth the MT09 and start looking around for a good MT10. But after riding it for a few months I've stopped looking for an MT10 because the MT09 has grown on me and it has showed me why she's a keeper. It's in yamaha blue obviously😁
The RN69 chassis is a gem. They completely transformed the bike from basically a great engine in an afterthought of a bike to a fantastic hypernaked allrounder. Only problem is the looks.
@@dsofe4879 I can't say I disagree with you. At first I didn't like the looks at all. When I did see it in real life it was okay but still not as atractive as the MT10 or GSX-S 1000 would be. But after a while it has grown on me and the headlight doesn't bother me anymore and I love the way it preforms. Makes me smile every time I ride it.
@@marioplessers I have the 2022 XSR900 and I feel the same way about it. At first I hated the seat and I still don't love it, but it's slowly growing on me. And with the way the bike rides, it's impossible not to love it.

6:36 I don't think that Tuono price is ridiculous because it is MSRP so far or close to it Here in Belarus I paid $8700 for 390 Duke two weeks ago. Insane $34000 at official dealership 💀 If I somehow was suggested to buy brand new Tuono v4 for $19000 I would not even ask for 5 minutes to think, it's a bargain
You should just have gotten a Kawasaki Z900, then you would never have been in doubt :) 4 + years of ownership and still a grin on my face every. single. time. I. Ride!
I think it is better bike all round as for one thing the Z900 has an 17 litre tank compared to the 14 litre tank on the MT 09. The Z900 is superior for touring.
2021+ is where it's at according to strangers on the internet. I was trying to decide between Rs660 or mt07 and mt09 new gen i bought the Aprilia and still wonder if the Mt09 sp is a better bike. Rs660 is awesome on the twisty roads but wonder if the torque is more fun...
comparison is the death of contentment, if you get the chance to ride one than take it, but a bike that you have is that much better when you decide to appreciate it!

I suggest you to buy the DPM Gullwing Windshield to enhance the look of your MT-09 even more. A friend of mine has it and it really is brilliant.
Absolutely stunning mate these yahamas are so special
I've had bout 20 bikes including super sports, sport tourers and naked like mt10,super duke r,zx14r,cbr1000rr,this is one of my favourite ones.
I came off of super sports also but now I just want a fun street bike so I bought a 19 mt09. Haven’t really had time to really try it because of winter. I hope I love it and not regret it
I have the same, same color and she’s a very special companion
Back in day I had numerous cbr600s just loved them.
I'm in my 3'rd year with my mt-09 second gen. Waiting patiently for the 4th gen of mt-09, if that looks cool and maybe replacing my current one.
Please review an XSR-900, its basically a mt-09 but i think the aesthetic changes and some subtle changes in the throtle response (so i've heard) would make a pretty entertaining video
Problem is to get one in RSA
@@FocusedGio Yeah, maybe he can borrow, Or IS it not sold there at all ??
@@shinyribs2178 Yamaha addressed engine cut off in latest ECU update...Have mine 21 model exactly one year tomorrow, did 18880km, what can I say more..Amazing bike for it's price
@@shinyribs2178 cut off has long been addressed, and I have no idea where you got the info about vibrations and a weak frame. I have never heard a review mention those points, nor can I feel any weird vibrations on mine
@@pyrocrewZuiden shinyribs was right about the frame issue.. You can search page "kwekpetlord" he is the first gen3 owner that have frame issue in Philippines..
You're right about headspace, but that refers to a lot more than just motorcycles. And we're not crazy! 😛
I love MT-09’s
Always will!!!
Best all around Bike ever!
Awesome bike currently saving up for my second 09. You can get a get a screen protector for the bikes dash laterally the first mod I do.
I hope so my boy, looking at mt09s now switching from a zx6r need some comfort the zx6r hurts
My headspace changed to match the logic that my brain knew the Versys offered….i just had to give it time 😊
Just get a tracer I had 2 mt the tracer took my heart ❤️ goes everywhere does everything more comfort same power ✌️
Hey CC! Great upload!
Can you please do a video where you compare sport bikes with naked bikes? Pro's/con's and what you personally think. Thanks! :)
Your edits are sick!
Great storytelling, Chaos!
Awesome video love it I'm hoping for my Yamaha Tracer 7 soon.
Have you seen the new triumph street triple? The entry Triple R is honestly looking like really good bang for buck and a bit different iteration of the sick triple engine. Would be cool if you could test ride one and compare it to the MT. Much love from Puerto Rico dude
planning on upgrading to an mt09 next year:) think the second generation looks sick
Cheers!
I really enjoy your videos!, thanks for the entertainment!
I Bought MT 25... Looks same but with less power of course...
Yamaha MT series are respectable motorcycles
Right on. Great insight!
Hi,like Ur video,I have a 2021 mt09 and am really enjoying it, keep up great work ,thx mate
@@dsofe4879 very true, you cannot stay grumpy on a bike that is so much fun and triggers your inner hooligan. Thats a nice you've got as well mate. What color is it?
@@marioplessers I've got the blue one. I originally wanted black, but the blue was all I could get and even that was a 4 month waiting list. It does look stunning in person though, despite the weird mismatch in gold-tones. Total blast to ride.
Absolutely love the content
I have a 2022 mt09sp you should test ride one you will be more in love with the platform
Whoah whoah!! upright riding position is a stuck up riding position? the hell man... @ 4:25
I have a 2016 fz09 blue, but definitely want to go to 2019 mt09 blue
My buddy has the mt09 loves it and rides it he’s at the track but you either love or really don’t care for it. Got to say I’m in the camp that doesn’t care for it the bike seems so confused about what it’s trying to be0.
Will you try and run a lower profile bar on this MT? if so witch one? I've tried the Pro Taper Universal low and the Carmichael bend. But I'm not sure what to think of either of them. I think I like the stock bar better, I just with it was 800mm like the Pro Tapers.
So you could have done the upgrades and wrap to the first one :).
What do you think of the Street Triple ?
Well said bro! Wish I can ride that bike but my body and height just fit only for a scooter😅
street triple 675 r 2009. bought it cheap as my everyday bike and ended up falling in love with it, sadly had to sell it as money was tight, now i have got a 2019 mt09sp,
I'm very happy with my '16 FZ 09 but the Triumph is interesting to me. How do you compare them after having both?
which one would you pick for cornering on mountains etc?09 street triple or your current mt09?
@@chrischarousis3074 STREET triple any day must be the R , i had a 15 standard street triple aswell , the 98 has shorter gearing so it weas more fun and handled better
@@shinyribs2178 mt is great . but the street i think is a better bike. does what u tell it to do and thats why i loved it , dunno about the 765 was told not raw anymore, if u want a gret package cant go wrong withe the triumph. will probs get another down the line
@@JustWill22 Thanks man. I appreciate the info ✌️
great content. mt09 nation!
Hey bro I can see in the videos we live in the same area….seen your work on the project R1 and liked that content as I have one of my own….I need tips in the cooling issues bro please
I want one for ages!!!
6:36 I don't think that Tuono price is ridiculous because it is MSRP so far or close to it
Here in Belarus I paid $8700 for 390 Duke two weeks ago. It's ridiculously high
Guess how much is the 1290 R here?
Insane $34000 at official dealership 💀
If I somehow was suggested to buy brand new Tuono v4 for $19000 I would not even ask for 5 minutes to think, it's a bargain
Next bike should be Triumph Trident 660! You might like that bike even more!
😂😂😂 for sure 😂😂😂
Nevermind after my comment on the previous video I watched this and most of my questions where answered 😂
Now you have to modify the heck out if it and get at least 120hp!
Hey finally got a notification. Woo
Problem is the 1st gen visually, it looked like a cheaper mt07...and pogo stick suspension ~
Wait till you try the new 2022 mt09
Fantastic video
Mr. Causes, whats your opinion on that ls2 helmet. Seen them pop up and I'm in the msrket for a new helmet
@@thomasoliver1596 I love my Aprilia! Buuuut it's the same situation as with women you see a hot one walk by and you just have to look at her . Sorry for the stupid comparison but it's the best way i can explain it 😆
Can you please review the dji osmo action 3 ?
I don’t have balls to sell my F4i, i fucking love it to much it’s extension of my soul.
Im just trying to get second bike :D
you ma friend, need to buy the latest gen :D
Wait, are you South-African?! That means dat jij "Nederlands" spreekt, toch?
From your accent I thought you where English. But people from England might hear it, as I'm not. I'm Dutch :D
Great video though! I got my license about 3 weeks ago and bought an MT-7 2nd gen. But might need a bit bigger one because I think I'm a bit too big for the bike (1,80m)
Do you know if the MT09 had a higher seating position?
2:58 what happened to that radiator? :D
Is it true what they say that your motorcycles never reach their top speed ever?
What do you think of the 07 ?
just one question what do you think about kawasaki z900
Bra, you're going to get another bike pretty soon.
I think you will like the 2021+ modals even better. This is coming from a 2021 owner.
Will there be a 4th mt09 .. the latest ver. ?
Been perfectly content on my Grom for a while now. Who'd have thunk it?🤷♂️
I thoughted it
if u wanna something better than japanse motorcycles, just try triumphs or husqvarna
But have you tried the tracer 🙂
so is it about time to buy a new sport bike?
If anyone can help a fellow biker. I don't know which bike to get, cb 650r or mt09 (2nd gen). I do like 10km a day, and every 2 months or so a little 400km trip. Anyone can help?
Why did TRC make MT09 Worse?
i always wonder why he hasnt tested out Supermoto`s
Should picked the sp
Kinda want one ngl
