    This movie uses primal fear in a way nothing else has. Instead of “spooky monster running toward you” being called primal, this actually doss it. There is no fight with hands or weapons, instead you’re in a hunting ground of something 1000x bigger then you and you’re put in the prey position without an ability to turn around and become a predator home alone style. It’s the best rep of primal fear I’ve ever seen

    This is actually a genius movie idea. They took one of the most basic horror movie tropes, aliens, and removed the entire idea of them being dangerous due to they're intelligence and made it a freakishly large animal. That's genius! It abducts people. As for what it can do, I don't know. Maybe it can do what all UFOs do: abduct people. Generally, people add all reasons behind why UFOs abduct people. The classic interpretation is human experimentation. This movie basically makes it "the UFO was hungry." It's unique but "genius" is kinda funny.

None of what was shown was then a lie, because even within the context of the film, it was thought to be a UFO initially as well before they come to realize that it's not an interstellar ship, but an interstellar creature, which changes the context of the film, turning it from a UFO/alien abduction movie into a monster movie.

    JJ DOES have an eye. It's located inside of it's mouth, you see it a few times during the film. It's the green block at the end when it unfurls. The reason it react aggressively to eye contact is because it eye is in it's mouth, so it relates it to hunting.
    It also didn't originally relate humans as a source of food. Jupe had been feeding it for a while, which habituated it to humans. JJ knew that where there were humans, there would be food. It's the same as people feeding bears and later getting mauled for upsetting it for one reason or another.

    Great video, but there was one issue: Jean Jacket is indeed territorial. Seeing the “head down” scene was after the digestion of the 40 people, JJ was acting on aggression (this being stated by the characters soon after the encounter), not because it needed food.
    This is why at the end of the movie, Jean Jacket flares a weird green thing at the balloon, which JJ perceives as a threat (the balloon is making eye contact, flying above JJ, being followed by streamers which will “fuck it up”). This is a demonstration of JJ’s territorial behavior, as well as how JJ perceives threats and reacts to them (this behavior being inspired by real animals, such as birds and marine animals) :)

The screams of the people being digested, and the sound of the biker screaming "OH GOD" over and over again in absolute agony. It sends a chill down ur spine. Espacially since the UFO is absolutely silent when it moves. All you hear is people screaming from the clouds.

    I guess it's lost on general audiences, but when he mentions the "Magic Hour," it's referring to dusk and is generally the BEST time to film anything. While Jean Jacket caused a lot of damage, it's entirely possible that some of the footage survived, especially if the digital footage automatically uploads to a Cloud-based server.
    As for what I'd do, I always thought the solution to beating Jean Jacket was getting it to suck up some sort of explosive device and then detonate it once it sucks it up. There's plenty of items civilians can get to do this, such as gunpowder. Use an extended timed fuse and double-prime it to guarantee it goes off when Jean Jacket sucks it up.

    Kelsi Rutledge: Jordan wanted to make something that was still in the realm of scientific possibility. He had a clear vision for how he wanted the creature to look and then was hoping for certain elements. Like, “Is there anything like this that exists?” I think marine animals have freaky, weird attributes that provide great inspiration for alien-like things. When he was designing the eyeball, for example, he’s like, “I really want to do a square eyeball, but does that exist anywhere in nature?” It’s not very common, but octopus have this very square iris actually...

It is impossible for them to do so with how their muscle structure is oriented. Had they used pigs as bait, nothing would really happen to them considering you have to be looking at the Jean Jacket for it to attack you. This would likely lead to more questions on why the pigs weren't taken like the horses. Though it could lead to the same conclusion that O.J. made about not looking at Jean Jacket. So it at least would possibly give us some insight on the behavior of our favorite flying saucer. I love how in this one episode, all your smart planning is actually worse than what the movie does. By assuming that the aliens are smart and advanced, you wouldn't have given the plastic bait (which allowed them to learn they can damage it and repel it with UN-digestible foods and bright colored fabrics) and by replacing it with pigs as a decoy you would have endangered yourself with the explosives but the alien wouldn't have touched them (because they can't look up and therefore don't look at it in the eye). I know you said it doesn't make sense, but the creature does work like that, so sense or no sense it is how to beat it...

    there are multiple themes in this movie that gets explored and looking into depth makes the movie all more better. for example: The Gordy scene, lots of people got confused by it but here's my friend's idea mixed with mine:
    Gordy was an animal used to be marketed, sorta like how Jean Jacket was marketed onto a jacket. Gordy was marketed as a unusual pet in that show, but it soon later backfired when he snapped and killed everyone. the shoe in that scene represents an unfortunate miracle, and is suppsoed to get your attention, telling you that you pay attention more to the shoe rather than the violence around it. sorta like Gordy, hes a danger but gets represented as a special character, getting your attention ignoring the fact that hes a chimp. so when he finally snaps, the realization finally kicks in and you see whats behind the curtains. this message is simply "dont meddle with nature for profit". On top of that, when Gordy went to fistbump Jupe, in that moment Jupe realized that he can control Predators. we see this with Jean Jacket herself, when Jupe is on screen, you can see on the back of his jacket that he has literally Jean Jacket imprinted on it, to be sold and marketed. this also sorta confirms that Jupe thinks that he can control predators, we've seen it with the stadium and look how that turned out. Gordy was supposed to be the small representation of Jean Jacket and why you shouldn't meddle with predators. this theme of control is present for most of the movie, like at the start, where The Movie Director was instructing OJ to do these things like "Spin", "Look here" and stuff like that, things you would say to an animal. But thats my interpretation, reply with your own, debunk or add on to this comment if you want too, i love reading other's interpretation for this movie.

    • @LadyAstarionAncunin
      @LadyAstarionAncunin Рік тому +69

      This isn't against you, but I honestly don't see why people are confused about the Gordy stuff. It's clearly included to illustrate the theme. It's also legitimately terrifying.
      Also, before he starts his demonstration, Jupe (clearly delusional) mutters to himself, "You were chosen." He thought that he survived his encounter with Gordy because he had some kind of special influence, but it was something as simple as his eyes being covered by the tablecloth. So many people ignorantly want a spectacle, thinking they are special enough to control it, but then they find out they can't.

  • @Inaros404
    @Inaros404 Рік тому +2

    Let me defend this scifi on when he looked down instead of at it to "avoid eye contact". You are very right about the facial recognition of animals that determine the eyes and the thought of aggression thereof.
    However. Think of this: just like SCP096, maybe it SENSES when it is being observed, and that is exactly how it hunts?
    Think about it. Bugs and such dont stare at birds when they are spotted until they die. They scatter. That is a natural reaction to millions of years of evolving against predators that fly.
    However, we dont have that evolution in us, because we have never had to worry about death from above. Well... until we developed planes.. lol but thats neither here, nor there.
    Since we never evolved to look up from flying predators, we tend to OBSERVE what it is that is hovering above us. Maybe THAT is what this alien is hoping for! That instant of OBSERVATION.?? Just a theory.

      I would think that the last few years have shown how dumb people can be. It ate a lot of people before it came across some people smart enough to know how to defeat it. We never saw people shoot at it, so who knows if something like that would have even worked. But you'd best believe that'd have been the first thing people IRL would have tried. And gotten sucked up for their trouble. It took intelligence to defeat it, and that's something undesirable these days.

      Yeah but horror creatures don’t need to be a massive, humanity killing threat.
