    I love the thief but I'm questioning to stun+poison+burn build, like it sounds overkill? However, since you're using Auch's staff, isn't there room for the two others to focus on one and Auch to focus burn + boom on another, and the boom would finish the one focused at first?

      Yeah, would be far better to spread the status around and try to get the aoe with fire burst. Hitting something with poison and burn that's already stunned is also kinda pointless since it's not a high-priority target anymore. I've like Auch set on high hp paried with Rolf with the flame bow also set on high hp (and something above that to prioritize thieves and fliers) so something is always burning for fire burst. When you have sqauds of 4 adding a Shaman for defensive utility (or potentially a witch instead with a thief in front since the atk down matters less) with the item that gives Sorcerous connection to buff Auch makes the fire burst explosion hit really hard and his fireballs melt enemies.

      @@twigz3214 The fireball and fire burst is a great combo. That's what I've been testing with a 4 person team. I use that sorcerer connection on my shaman to boost my wizard before launching the fireball since the shaman doesn't attack. I also have a hunter in the group with a fire bow. A nice trigger setup is to target Non Afflicted units, this way multiple attackers don't end up hitting the same unit. Poison, Burn, Stun are all considered as an affliction. With not afflicted in the primary trigger, you can then tweak the condition by using trigger 2 for max hp or whatever you want to target.
      Hitting a stunned character would be useful if that enemy still has AP to spend. Dropping a burn or poison to that enemy then triggers extra damage before they can launch that attack hopefully killing them off.

      Flame Burst is so slow. You have to wait until the end to pop it and it's risky to keep enemies alive instead of just beating them (at least mid to late game).

    • @TwinworldGameReviews
      @TwinworldGameReviews 7 місяців тому

      @@Fleshlight_Reviewer Any end-of-battle move will be slow, just like Parting Blow. At least with Burn or Poison, enemies are being damaged every time they try to use an active skill. If enemies happen to still be burning etc at the end of the match, then Flame Burst, Poison Burst, etc will hopefully take the remaining enemies out. If you're able to kill the enemies beforehand or weaken them enough for a final group blast, that's even better.

    The biggest weakness of using a Thief as a tank for me has been ranged assists. All the other frontliners can tank a few ranged assists and keep on going, but Travis dies almost immediately. I really dislike having to worry about whether my frontliner is even going to survive when pushing into enemy territory, so I eventually stopped using him altogether.
    I'd much rather use the Lucky Coin on Ochlys, who can dodge tank quite well but also does a lot more damage and can take a few hits when needed.

      Adding some minor healing from a solider has helped a lot for me with that, the soldier also helps get rid of archers and mages with their pierce and fliers with javelin, you can also use the unwavering spear to remove enemy thieves.
      I agree Ochlys is better, but she’s also promoted so that’s expected and I’ve liked using both in separate squads. Having a fighter in the thieves squad also helps lower ranged assist damage and you can swap them in as the leader if needed. Think the thief shines a bit more with 4 man squads since you can fit it 2 units with utility and damage and the 4th slot lets you slot it someone fully focused on damage. You can also give him a lapis pendant if you want to give Ochlys the lucky coin.

      Travis is insane lol, easily my best tank on expert. He is untouchable and weakness to true strike can be easily mitigated. The best thing about him is that he deny resources from the enemy (by stealing their PP, and later AP as well). He completely trivialized Galerius because he steals his PP (which I still can't believe works on bosses) and Galerius reducing your units to 1 hp mean nothing if he cant land the killing blow.

    I like Travis but I can't seem to get his untouchable dodge strategy to work. I've put him on the front and back row and watched it either fizzle out and he's dead in one hit, or waste an entire squad battle for only dodging while others attempt to cover his inability to fight back. I've had him equipped with Viper Fang, but I don't see him as completely reliable to Hodrik. I guess I've become impartial to knights and paladins since Jaffar from FE7 and um Zelkov from FE Engage are the only ones who've excited me in my most recent memories. I guess I will have to keep using Travis to see how he handles.

    • @twigz3214

      I’ve personally found Travis far more reliable than Hodrick, 2 of a silk scarf, lucky coin, or lapis pendant make his front lining very reliable vs nearly all enemy types. You can have a fighter in the back row with a dancers bracket and set it to only activate when there’s no archers (or when you have 2+ pp as well if you give the fighter the azure shield) and you can set arrow cover to only work when there’s enemy archer who target him with true strikes or enemy fliers which target the bad line, the fighter at level 15 can also block attacks that target the back line and ignore Travis.
      In my experience Hodrick just instantly melts to magic and warriors and while the Radiant knight helps with magic Warriors feel impossible for him to deal with while Travis with a fighter has felt able to tank nearly everything reliably. Having Chloe and/or Aubin with him has been nice since Aubin wears down the frontline with his def debuffs and high damage and Chloe can often one shot back line targets like archers and wizards with the buff from dancers bracelet before they hit.
      I’ve also preferred the Templar sword, black iron sword, or the sword from the black merchant over the viper fang. Templar and the black market merchant sword add some raw durability if he does get hit and black iron sword is just the most damage, the runic sword is also good damage but you won’t be using the pp steal as often with it.

      If the enemy guards he doesn't steal PP. If tanking he should be on +40% evade from items, or +20% evade and a lapis pendant to guarantee at least two evades. You can also see if the enemy is going to get through his evade when you see the party taking damage equal to Travis's HP and rearrange to make sure not too many attacks come his way or he steals pp from someone who won't guard.

      I think that makes more sense. Gives room to move units into dif formations. A unit in every slot kills a lot of potential strategies.

    Thoughts on giving the thief a lapis pendant, giving him extra pp for dodging?

    • @gjfwang
      @gjfwang 7 місяців тому +1

      Unless you're using a pp for something else, you're better off giving it to someone that can bail out the thief if the enemy have truestrike or something. Evade is just a failsafe for when the thief misses their evade roll. You're more likely to run into enemy units with true strike than the thief missing their evade roll twice in a battle.

    Your leaning edge setup is similar to how I've been testing my character in my current run. I know this is nit picking on my end as I've done programming in the past, but your first lean edge skill conditions should be swapped around. Right now, condition 1 is always true because there is an enemy with low hp and that means it has to check condition 2 every time. If you swap the conditions around, then condition 2 is only checked IF you have under 75 percent health left.
    Having the 0 AP condition is nice because you can then wait to be attacked first before hitting back and healing, since he has a higher initiative than many others. I'd consider using condition 2 as lowest HP to help get the double healing.

    • @popers1328
      @popers1328 7 місяців тому

      Pretty sure that's not actually how the game works. The first condition isn't a trigger, it's a prioritization. If this skill is used it will prioritize the legal target with the lowest current hp. The second condition is a trigger i.e. If own hp is below 75%, use this skill, else, do not use this skill and kove to the next line.
      When you're selecting your conditions there's a note at the bottom that explains how that specific conditions works and not all of them are triggers, others are just priorities. If you have one trigger and one priority, it should never matter the order you have them in on the same skill.

    • @TwinworldGameReviews
      @TwinworldGameReviews 7 місяців тому

      @@popers1328 Which part of the comment are you replying about? Lowest % enemy HP condition and user health under 75 % condition are not priority conditions. There will always be an enemy with lowest health. If there are multiple enemies with the same health, then a random enemy is picked unless condition 2 specifically points to a certain enemy. The 0 AP trigger is not a priority either. There are priority conditions, such as prioritize back row when possible or prioritize hitting flying units. Condition 1 and 2 are both checks. If condition 1 is true, then check condition 2. If condition 1 is false (excluding priority based options) then condition 2 won't be looked at.

      @@TwinworldGameReviews Lowest % HP - Prioritize combatants with the lowest percentage HP. (The skill will override default targeting rules.) This condition only affects the targeting of the skill, not whether or not it is going to be used, so it won't interfere with the second condition, own hp is less than 75%, because that is a trigger.

    • @TwinworldGameReviews
      @TwinworldGameReviews 7 місяців тому

      @@popers1328 I never said that condition 1 will interfere with condition 2. I mentioned that condition 1 will always be true because there will always be an enemy unit with the lowest HP. The system will always scan condition 1 and then be forced to scan condition 2 before making a decision. If he flips them around, then Lowest HP is only checked IF the character has 75% health or less. It's a more optimized condition check since condition 2 doesn't get checked if user HP is above 75%. On a side note, his condition 1 is Lowest HP instead of Lowest % HP. It still works the same way though by changing default targeting rules.

      @TwinworldGameReviews Oh, you are literally nitpicking about the efficiency of the programming. I thought you were trying to say that it wouldn't work as intended because he had them in the wrong order. Gameplaywise, it functions identically, but if you were a programmer, then the current way is less optimized. I'm sorry, I misunderstood the purpose of your comment.
