I just want to say that I think your list is perfect, the 3DS is a perfect JRPG console for me. Also, Radiant Historia is number one for me as well and not many people are familiar with Stella Glow as well, cause it came out late during the 3DS era. It is such an underrated gem.
If ya'll like Stella Glow you should play Imageepoch's other games especially Arc Rise Fantasia. It's a tough as nails turn based game by the writer of Tales of Symphonia and Abyss with music by Yoshinori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger&Cross,Shadow Hearts and Xenogears). It's on the Wii no motion controls at all...just a heads up the dub is horrendous.

@@turanx0 The Ultra games actively _removed_ a lot of scenes from the original game, and overall both the story and characters were much worse. Like, I genuinely cannot see how anyone could make the argument that the Ultra games improved on the original writing-wise. One of my favorite aspects about Sun/Moon was how surprisingly good the story was, and the Ultra games were such a downgrade in comparison.

Great top 10 list! We absolutely need a Devil Survivor 3 out asap!!! Radiant Historia was a blast to get to the true, true ending. Definitely in my top 10 3ds list as well
The 3DS was definitely an RPGs dream there are just so many games to count and they gave a lot of people great memories along with it. I just remember just saving money alone just to get 3ds titles
The DS was more an RPG lovers dream. Most of the popular RPGS on the 3DS are ports/sequels to DS games. It’s a shame that with the new joystick and processing power, what we get on the 3DS is more 2D platformers and turn based RPGs, which would’ve been right at home on the OG DS. Total waste of the system tbh.
I am so glad you include Stella Glow. My most fav game in 3ds, especially it being a successor for luminous arc from nds and the last hurrah from imagepooch before their doom
7th Dragon III coming out in the first place was a miracle. The first 3 games were developed by Imageepoch and they went out of businesses during development. Heck they went out of bushiness a month before Stella Glow came out. Series producer Reiko Kodama (she also directed Phantasy Star IV and produced Skies of Arcadia) passed away last year. Also the way that game ends (all 4 games tell an ongoing story) it's a series I don't think will ever come back. TLDR Developer went under,creator died and the ending doesn't leave any room for a sequel.
Well Sega already took over 7th Dragon and the game was developed with new staff. The series was pretty big in Japan so who knows. As for plot, it's already crazy they can always cook up a continuation .
I get the feeling at some point we will see an announcement of a port of Radiant Historia on Switch/Switch 2/PS4/PS5. This just screams a game as something there is way more money to make and yet not have to do much to get there. A ported remaster of this title has to make it to other platforms at somepoint, there just is no reason not to. I missed out on a lot of handhe;ld gaming experiences over the years because of a mistaken view that handheld gaming was a second rate experience (that justification came from when most handheld games were just that back in the Game Gear era). The unfortunate dogging I had of handheld experiences (and a lack of funds at many points) forced me to miss a lot of those platforms. I'm trying to catch up, sniffing out the gems and videos like this help that for sure. Thanks Ren!
Man I'm so happy this video helped some! I agree man, this just seems like such an EASY win for Atlus to do a remaster of Radiant Historia. I truly think with the new golden age of JRPGs that it'd find a healthy audience waiting to try it. Genuinely a treasure and your experiences with missing out on handhelds heavily reminds me of how I look at the PS Vita. I got Radiant Historia for $20 on sale at Walmart. It was when the switch was taking over and they were trying to get rid of 3DS games. It’s a masterpiece in my opinion!

The 3DS has a great library, especially for SMT fans considering there are 8 games in the series on the system if we also count the Persona Q games. SMT IV is a true masterpiece and one of the greatest games ever made. I'll just leave it at that because if I don't, I'll be very tempted to go on a long-winded rant about how much I love SMT IV as some of you who frequent this channel's Discord may have seen me do before. 😆While SMT IV: Apocalypse has had a mixed reception and is considered something of a black sheep game in the series by many SMT fans, I'm one of those who genuinely loves the game. While some valid criticisms can be made about it like the game having an inconsistent tone and how it doesn't make a fitting sequel to SMT IV, I don't think those things make the game bad. When taken for what it is as a game on it's own, SMT IV: Apocalypse is quite fun and even charming in its own way. What other SMT game has Grand Member Maruo and a protagonist who has a dialogue option to tell a snobby angel to "Get bent."? So even though SMT IV: Apocalypse may not be a masterpiece like SMT IV, it is still a very good and very fun game that is one of the most unique in the SMT series. I also agree that it is one of the best games on the 3DS.
You are absolutely right about SMT IV apocolypse and let's be real, it introduced the world to the Grand Member Maruo... and for that I'll never be able to thank it enough haha. I'm so happy to hear your thoughts on this. Literally my go to authority on quality SMT games and SMT (like) games. The 3DS was just the perfect getaway from SMT and truly Atlus in its prime for me. So Glad you included Stella Glow, 7th Dragon, and Radiant Historian. These 3 games came out when the 3DS was dying and didn’t get enough recognition. Ashamed really. They could have been more popular if Nintendo marketing more and the 3DS wasn’t dying
7th Dragon was an incredible surprise for me when I played it a few years ago, not having played any of the previous games. So underrated. Then again, that describes a bunch of 3DS JRPGs that came out in its last couple of years.

About Senran Kagura, it really took me by surprise as well. I was ready to play with one hand only, given the nature of the game, but man the game really forced me to use both.

Definitely a very good list, it’s hard to just pick 10! I definitely would include Yokai Watch Psychic Specters very near the top on my own personal list though. Level 5 did the 3D effect better than any other developer for the system (excepting Nintendo itself, maybe) and the very Japanese atmosphere permeating the game, along with the simple yet addicting gameplay where you can collect an army of Yokai brimming with personality make it a must play. The story is excellent also. If you’ve never checked it out, do so however you can and you won’t regret it. It’s far superior to YWatch 1, and I think a little better than 3. LBX by Level 5 is also fantastic, and it’s a crime it was so overlooked in the west. At least that game remains quite affordable, so there’s no excuse not to try it if you like extremely well-made, fun, very Japanese games on your 3DS!
Although I love 2’s atmosphere, personally I think 3 was the best in the series. Even if it strayed in a lot of ways, I feel it has the most to do. Shame we still don’t have 4 in the states, but I can dream.
@@yokaiwatcher8500 That’s fair, 3 didn’t grab me as much as Specters did story wise but it is certainly a fantastic game. After finishing Specters I actually made it pretty far into Fleshy Souls before getting into 3. I just happen to adore Japanese culture and BBQ didn’t charm me as much. Still, I did enjoy every minute of it I played. Supposedly Level 5 is back in business in the west and bringing a bunch of titles over soon, including the new Fantasy Life and Megaton Musashi. I’ll pretty much buy anything they put out as long as they retain the high quality of their 3DS titles. They sure are taking their time tho!

I loved Radiant Historia. I 100%ed the original and the expanded 3DS version. It had one of my favorite battle systems ever. I loved both the way manipulating enemy positions was important and how you could basically choose to give the enemy more turns in a row in order to pull off larger combos later(kinda reminds me of the Bravely Default system where you can bank your moves to do multiple at once later). I only had 3 small issues. 1) Earlier characters just don't have as good of moves as later ones, even after they're all leveled up and you've found all their hidden moves. They're strong enough to beat everything with, but the later characters are just plain better at everything. 2) A couple of the bosses took up all 9 squares, leaving Aht nowhere to lay traps. Traps were one of her best and most interesting mechanics, and to just be denied them entirely in certain battles was kind of a downer. 3) That new character from the remake who sends you into the various new "red book" quests wasn't playable. Her artwork and sprite design were very consistent with the PC designs, practically screaming that she would eventually join you, but sadly no. It's still my #1 3DS game, too. Just so good.
I've had a 3DS for years but only had a few games. I've just recently started to build up the library more and am stopping by my local retro store to pick up Devil Survivor Overclocked! Can't wait to get going on it! They also have Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker but I can't swing picking them both up right now considering the cost of them.
With the exception of Senran Kagura, Kirby and Metroid, I have all of these, and I have to say, it's getting increasingly harder to make the order of my top 10 for the 3DS. Stella Glow, 7th Dragon III, Radiant Historia, FE Echoes, Monster Hunter Stories, Dragon Quest VIII, Etrian Odyssey IV, Crimson Shroud, SMT Devil Survivor 2, Lord of Magna, and others that could fit.
2 Years ago I completed 7th Dragon 2020 but never got to play the NDS 7th dragon nor the 2020 2 and 3 for time issues and eventually forgot about the series. I just want to say THANK YOU SO FK MUCH, Im returning to this series RIGHT NOW!.
Happy to see FE Echoes on this list! It’s definitely an underrated title. Most FE fans I see either don’t know it exists, or consider it to be a bad FE game due to it’s simplistic map design and lack of additional mechanics (ie weapon triangle, child units, etc.) However, I’d say that simplicity makes it the perfect introduction to the franchise and tactics games in general. On top of that, you’ve got a fantastic and nuanced story along with great voice acting and music. Aside from a few missteps, the production value overall is really high. While it definitely doesn’t have the breadth or replayability of the other 3DS titles, I definitely believe it stands as the epitome of quality over quantity among them.

I was a weird 3DS fan myself, I was more into the Vita, and my memorable 3DS game choices are things like Ace Combat: AH Legacy, Dead or Alive Dimensions, Ridge Racer 3D, Crash City Mayhem, Project Mirai and Rhythm Thief. Of course I enjoyed most of the first party stuff too, particularly Link Between Worlds and Kid Icarus. And Senran Kagura, but I hesitate on that since we only got it digitally in the US (which now that the eshop is gone, means it basically doesn't exist), Liberation Maiden too, I'm still sad we never got the boxed collection of the Guild 01 games, since unless you import and know Japanese, they're lost to the ether now too.
Awesome list! I just wished that some of them would get the port treatment to the Switch as I'm having a harder time playing long sessions without getting cramps, lol! Also, the prices on some of them are starting to get ridiculous (looking at you SMT games)! For me 3 games that stands out on the 3DS: Project X Zone (became my gateway to those types of games that led me to the Super Robot Wars series), Animal Crossing (kept me sane during my hospital session for 10 days after a surgery years ago) and Fantasy Life simply such a fun game and I can't wait for the new one on Switch (come on we need a release date already)! I am glad I bought a lot of 3DS (physical) games before the eshop went down. I have Switch, Steam Deck, a powerhouse laptop, iPad, etc. and I still find time for the 3DS. Great system.
“last true handheld” I totally agree. i love the system. 2 nights ago, I picked up my own old 3ds, turned it on, charged it to keep the battery in good condition. didn’t intent to play it, but still kept me playing for 2 hours 😅 what game? hyrule warriors legends! the game that i have finished on switch and wii u 😅 yeah I love the system ❤ also, I never see anyone mention Heroes of Ruin for the 3DS. it’s not a bad game people! also, if you like Valkyrie Chronicles games play, you’ll like this game for 3DS: Code Name STEAM Maple Story has a fan translation on 3DS. also, a very great but japan only game called Beyond the Labyrinth is also fan translated for 3DS. there are 3 main fantastic musou/warriors games on 3DS: hyrule warriors legends, fire emblem warriors (new 3ds only) & samurai warriors chronicles. finally, there 3….yes, 3 River City beat em up games on 3DS & they’re awes. check them out. thanks for uploading, great video as always.

This is a great list... I've wanted to go back and replay Devil Survivor 2 RB again for quite some time and hoping that ATLUS would make a Devil Survivor 3... instead we get Persona 5 Tactica. I bought the 3DS on launch day, and it has been my favorite console of all time.

Strange Journeys Redux is probably peak SMT for me. Out of IV and Apocalypse, I'd say I preferred the latter. I've played through the first twice and never finished it, but I loved the second, even though it was a bit goofier. And I really need to replay the two Devil Survivor games again, they are both great. Also all the Etrian games on the 3DS are great.

I'll also mention Tales of the Abyss, it's one of the only two consoles it's on, and being the japanese version of the game removes some of annoying things added in the ps2 english release. I haven’t played all the games on your list, although the ones I have played I completely agree with! A few others that I need to mention: Layton Vs Wright (or Miracle Mask as a close second), Luigi’s Mansion 2, Persona Q, Rhythm Heaven Megamix, and Tales of The Abyss. Honestly though, the 3DS has a truly excellent library.
Excellent list, the Devil Survivor games are the GOAT. Imo, it's missing the Project X Zone games. A third one on the Switch would be a dream come true. Though a third Devil Survivor would be even better !
Good lord I love these kind of videos. I have majority of these. I wish I didnt return 7th Dragon lmao not because I didnt like it but because its expensive despite having it installed on my other hacked 3ds.
I would like to mention "The legend of legacy". I ended up liking the weird leveling up system it has. I even ended up liking it better that it's spiritual sequel, the alliance alive.
Solid list man. I cant believe there are more people who know of 7th Dragon =D. It has 3 other games before, starting on the DS, then having 2 more on the PSP. If you haven't played them, take a look.
Man, I absolutely cannot make a tier list of my favorites; they're all just so precious to me, but some standouts would be fire emblem awakening and fates, monster hunter 4 ultimate, smt iv, Pokémon Y, Animal Crossing New Leaf, Ocarina of Time, Bravely Default, and of course a link between worlds.
Idk if you've skimmed through the ps3 eshop, but a ton of ps1/ps2 classics are not available elsewhere on there to own. Xenogears, Chrono Trigger, a ton of old smt, plus persona 3 fes. I mean, I know there's a remake coming, but in case for those people who have a preferred version of the game, that one isn't available elsewhere. I know some have had a (remake or remaster), but grandia 1-4, parasite eve 1-2, chrono cross, vagrant Story, ogre/ff Tactics, threads of fate (my favorite rpg no one cares about), ff 1-9, those are just the obvious, but seriously tons more of literal classics that people are like when will it come, (Xenogears/never), so get them while you can if you haven't. You could pad out your list more with a few more smt ps2 games from the ps3 eshop. Also, one thing I'm doomed with now. Never got any dq on 3ds, so goodbye sweet precious dlc only available halfway through the game. Nor did I get Stella glow :/ I got ff conquest and the other 2 as dlc in there. Did you ever play fantasy life? The game ended, and that's that. There was dlc that was legitimately the final chapter, so if not. More stuff lost forever. Curse you rpgs and your dlc that is locked away under some kind of progress or something. Some had free stuff from the beginning, but plenty, you need to reach a certain part of the game. Like all the smt/persona q games and monster hunters. Anywho. Tier list forever, haha. Ps3 eshop is a gold mine. Literally, no one is covering. Legends of Tron Bonne on ps1 over $1000 used disc. Ps3 eshop $6. Same for tons of classics.
List in any order. Fe games but awakening is my favorite of the 3ds era. Fates is alright i did like the rebalance of the system and mastered the amiboo system Echoes meh never liked it much but i do love the artist Codename steam a fun stragety game that uses steam to move around with. Highly recommend especially if you got the fe amiboo for robin he's very strong Senran kagura 1 2 both fun to play Project X zone 1 and 2. Dun combo games and large maps are basically one huge story each time. 2 is a big more free and fun that way. Pokemon Kirby sonic Mario games enough said.

There are so many good games on the 3DS. I could easily make a top 50 lol Since the DS, Nintendo also knocked it out the park with their RPGs, even beating consoles in the genre!
A very intresting list with some entries I haven't heard from before and some I really should play already. But Fates is so much better then Echos. And I'd also put Awakening higher, but I guess Echos is a good entry into the series. But it's kind of ironic, because my entry into the series is actually Awakening. But with my wiered habbit of hardly ever really finishing a game, fates is something really special, since I played through all three storys entirely and through the thrid one even multiple times.
I loooove the Senran Kagura series!!! Deep Crimson really is a ton of fun, especially with the DLC that unlocks chibi forms for everyone, and the others that add the only male character in the series and more "cultured" customization options! This is one of the best games in the series! I just wish Sony didn’t ruin the games’ future!

I just want to say that I think your list is perfect, the 3DS is a perfect JRPG console for me. Also, Radiant Historia is number one for me as well and not many people are familiar with Stella Glow as well, cause it came out late during the 3DS era. It is such an underrated gem.

If ya'll like Stella Glow you should play Imageepoch's other games especially Arc Rise Fantasia. It's a tough as nails turn based game by the writer of Tales of Symphonia and Abyss with music by Yoshinori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger&Cross,Shadow Hearts and Xenogears). It's on the Wii no motion controls at all...just a heads up the dub is horrendous.

@@turanx0 The Ultra games actively _removed_ a lot of scenes from the original game, and overall both the story and characters were much worse. Like, I genuinely cannot see how anyone could make the argument that the Ultra games improved on the original writing-wise. One of my favorite aspects about Sun/Moon was how surprisingly good the story was, and the Ultra games were such a downgrade in comparison.

The DS was more an RPG lovers dream. Most of the popular RPGS on the 3DS are ports/sequels to DS games.
It’s a shame that with the new joystick and processing power, what we get on the 3DS is more 2D platformers and turn based RPGs, which would’ve been right at home on the OG DS. Total waste of the system tbh.
Put tons of hours into Bravely Default. Even if it got repetitive at the end, I really loved it.

7th Dragon III coming out in the first place was a miracle. The first 3 games were developed by Imageepoch and they went out of businesses during development. Heck they went out of bushiness a month before Stella Glow came out. Series producer Reiko Kodama (she also directed Phantasy Star IV and produced Skies of Arcadia) passed away last year. Also the way that game ends (all 4 games tell an ongoing story) it's a series I don't think will ever come back.
TLDR Developer went under,creator died and the ending doesn't leave any room for a sequel.

Well Sega already took over 7th Dragon and the game was developed with new staff. The series was pretty big in Japan so who knows. As for plot, it's already crazy they can always cook up a continuation .
I get the feeling at some point we will see an announcement of a port of Radiant Historia on Switch/Switch 2/PS4/PS5. This just screams a game as something there is way more money to make and yet not have to do much to get there. A ported remaster of this title has to make it to other platforms at somepoint, there just is no reason not to. I missed out on a lot of handhe;ld gaming experiences over the years because of a mistaken view that handheld gaming was a second rate experience (that justification came from when most handheld games were just that back in the Game Gear era). The unfortunate dogging I had of handheld experiences (and a lack of funds at many points) forced me to miss a lot of those platforms. I'm trying to catch up, sniffing out the gems and videos like this help that for sure. Thanks Ren!

I truly think with the new golden age of JRPGs that it'd find a healthy audience waiting to try it. I got Radiant Historia for $20 on sale at Walmart. It was when the switch was taking over and they were trying to get rid of 3DS games. It’s a masterpiece in my opinion!

The 3DS has a great library, especially for SMT fans considering there are 8 games in the series on the system if we also count the Persona Q games. SMT IV is a true masterpiece and one of the greatest games ever made. I'll just leave it at that because if I don't, I'll be very tempted to go on a long-winded rant about how much I love SMT IV as some of you who frequent this channel's Discord may have seen me do before. 😆While SMT IV: Apocalypse has had a mixed reception and is considered something of a black sheep game in the series by many SMT fans, I'm one of those who genuinely loves the game. While some valid criticisms can be made about it like the game having an inconsistent tone and how it doesn't make a fitting sequel to SMT IV, I don't think those things make the game bad. When taken for what it is as a game on it's own, SMT IV: Apocalypse is quite fun and even charming in its own way. What other SMT game has Grand Member Maruo and a protagonist who has a dialogue option to tell a snobby angel to "Get bent."? So even though SMT IV: Apocalypse may not be a masterpiece like SMT IV, it is still a very good and very fun game that is one of the most unique in the SMT series. I also agree that it is one of the best games on the 3DS.
You are absolutely right about SMT IV apocolypse and let's be real, it introduced the world to the Grand Member Maruo... and for that I'll never be able to thank it enough haha. I'm so happy to hear your thoughts on this. Literally my go to authority on quality SMT games and SMT (like) games. The 3DS was just the perfect getaway from SMT and truly Atlus in its prime for me. 7th Dragon was an incredible surprise for me when I played it a few years ago, not having played any of the previous games. So underrated. Then again, that describes a bunch of 3DS JRPGs that came out in its last couple of years.

Definitely a very good list, it’s hard to just pick 10! I definitely would include Yokai Watch Psychic Specters very near the top on my own personal list though. Level 5 did the 3D effect better than any other developer for the system (excepting Nintendo itself, maybe) and the very Japanese atmosphere permeating the game, along with the simple yet addicting gameplay where you can collect an army of Yokai brimming with personality make it a must play. The story is excellent also. If you’ve never checked it out, do so however you can and you won’t regret it. It’s far superior to YWatch 1, and I think a little better than 3. LBX by Level 5 is also fantastic, and it’s a crime it was so overlooked in the west. At least that game remains quite affordable, so there’s no excuse not to try it if you like extremely well-made, fun, very Japanese games on your 3DS!

Although I love 2’s atmosphere, personally I think 3 was the best in the series. Even if it strayed in a lot of ways, I feel it has the most to do. Shame we still don’t have 4 in the states, but I can dream.
@@yokaiwatcher8500 That’s fair, 3 didn’t grab me as much as Specters did story wise but it is certainly a fantastic game. After finishing Specters I actually made it pretty far into Fleshy Souls before getting into 3. I just happen to adore Japanese culture and BBQ didn’t charm me as much. Still, I did enjoy every minute of it I played. Supposedly Level 5 is back in business in the west and bringing a bunch of titles over soon, including the new Fantasy Life and Megaton Musashi. I’ll pretty much buy anything they put out as long as they retain the high quality of their 3DS titles. They sure are taking their time tho!

Not into anime at all. I wouldn't put any of these in my top 20, but these things are subjective. Great vid.
I loved Radiant Historia. I 100%ed the original and the expanded 3DS version. It had one of my favorite battle systems ever. I loved both the way manipulating enemy positions was important and how you could basically choose to give the enemy more turns in a row in order to pull off larger combos later(kinda reminds me of the Bravely Default system where you can bank your moves to do multiple at once later). I only had 3 small issues. 1) Earlier characters just don't have as good of moves as later ones, even after they're all leveled up and you've found all their hidden moves. They're strong enough to beat everything with, but the later characters are just plain better at everything. 2) A couple of the bosses took up all 9 squares, leaving Aht nowhere to lay traps. Traps were one of her best and most interesting mechanics, and to just be denied them entirely in certain battles was kind of a downer. 3) That new character from the remake who sends you into the various new "red book" quests wasn't playable. Her artwork and sprite design were very consistent with the PC designs, practically screaming that she would eventually join you, but sadly no. It's still my #1 3DS game, too. Just so good.
I would have put Fantasy Life and Kid Icarus Uprising somewhere in there but overall it's a pretty solid list
I've had a 3DS for years but only had a few games. I've just recently started to build up the library more and am stopping by my local retro store to pick up Devil Survivor Overclocked! Can't wait to get going on it! They also have Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker but I can't swing picking them both up right now considering the cost of them.

With the exception of Senran Kagura, Kirby and Metroid, I have all of these, and I have to say, it's getting increasingly harder to make the order of my top 10 for the 3DS. Stella Glow, 7th Dragon III, Radiant Historia, FE Echoes, Monster Hunter Stories, Dragon Quest VIII, Etrian Odyssey IV, Crimson Shroud, SMT Devil Survivor 2, Lord of Magna, and others that could fit.
2 Years ago I completed 7th Dragon 2020 but never got to play the NDS 7th dragon nor the 2020 2 and 3 for time issues and eventually forgot about the series. I just want to say THANK YOU SO FK MUCH, Im returning to this series RIGHT NOW!.

Happy to see FE Echoes on this list! It’s definitely an underrated title. Most FE fans I see either don’t know it exists, or consider it to be a bad FE game due to it’s simplistic map design and lack of additional mechanics (ie weapon triangle, child units, etc.) However, I’d say that simplicity makes it the perfect introduction to the franchise and tactics games in general. On top of that, you’ve got a fantastic and nuanced story along with great voice acting and music. Aside from a few missteps, the production value overall is really high. While it definitely doesn’t have the breadth or replayability of the other 3DS titles, I definitely believe it stands as the epitome of quality over quantity among them.

I was a weird 3DS fan myself, I was more into the Vita, and my memorable 3DS game choices are things like Ace Combat: AH Legacy, Dead or Alive Dimensions, Ridge Racer 3D, Crash City Mayhem, Project Mirai and Rhythm Thief. Of course I enjoyed most of the first party stuff too, particularly Link Between Worlds and Kid Icarus. And Senran Kagura, but I hesitate on that since we only got it digitally in the US (which now that the eshop is gone, means it basically doesn't exist), Liberation Maiden too, I'm still sad we never got the boxed collection of the Guild 01 games, since unless you import and know Japanese, they're lost to the ether now too.
Awesome list! I just wished that some of them would get the port treatment to the Switch as I'm having a harder time playing long sessions without getting cramps, lol! Also, the prices on some of them are starting to get ridiculous (looking at you SMT games)! For me 3 games that stands out on the 3DS: Project X Zone (became my gateway to those types of games that led me to the Super Robot Wars series), Animal Crossing (kept me sane during my hospital session for 10 days after a surgery years ago) and Fantasy Life simply such a fun game and I can't wait for the new one on Switch (come on we need a release date already)! This is a great list... I've wanted to go back and replay Devil Survivor 2 RB again for quite some time and hoping that ATLUS would make a Devil Survivor 3... instead we get Persona 5 Tactica.
I bought the 3DS on launch day, and it has been my favorite console of all time.
SMT 4 and 4 Apocalypse are my favorite games on the 3DS and probably top 10 of all time

Radiant Historia is easily the best 3DS game I've ever played and I've played a lot.
Eeeh definitely a personal list, this is basically just RPGs but there’s so much more than that.
Fantasy Life is top tier for me. I hope the new game keeps the same indescribable appeal.

Strange Journeys Redux is probably peak SMT for me. Out of IV and Apocalypse, I'd say I preferred the latter. I've played through the first twice and never finished it, but I loved the second, even though it was a bit goofier. And I really need to replay the two Devil Survivor games again, they are both great. Also all the Etrian games on the 3DS are great.
Strange Journey Redux is so good and the atmosphere is unmatched. Phenomenal choice
That was practically one of the last 3ds titles I picked up before they stopped making 3DS games

Just about to finish Stella Glow. Love the art style an game play. Has its downs but it still a great game, in my top 10 for sure

I'll also mention Tales of the Abyss, it's one of the only two consoles it's on, and being the japanese version of the game removes some of annoying things added in the ps2 english release. One of my favorite rpgs ever

I haven’t played all the games on your list, although the ones I have played I completely agree with!
A few others that I need to mention: Layton Vs Wright (or Miracle Mask as a close second), Luigi’s Mansion 2, Persona Q, Rhythm Heaven Megamix, and Tales of The Abyss. Honestly though, the 3DS has a truly excellent library.

Honestly I have so many favourite 3ds games but bravely default is just incredible. I play it all the time. It’s one of the best rpgs of all time
Excellent list, the Devil Survivor games are the GOAT. Imo, it's missing the Project X Zone games. A third one on the Switch would be a dream come true. Though a third Devil Survivor would be even better !
It'd be the best timeline of Project X Zone and DeSu could get a new entry....

I would like to mention "The legend of legacy". I ended up liking the weird leveling up system it has. I even ended up liking it better that it's spiritual sequel, the alliance alive.
Solid list man. I cant believe there are more people who know of 7th Dragon =D. It has 3 other games before, starting on the DS, then having 2 more on the PSP. If you haven't played them, take a look.

Man, I absolutely cannot make a tier list of my favorites; they're all just so precious to me, but some standouts would be fire emblem awakening and fates, monster hunter 4 ultimate, smt iv, Pokémon Y, Animal Crossing New Leaf, Ocarina of Time, Bravely Default, and of course a link between worlds.
I own Radiant Historia on DS and 3DS would love a port to Switch like Alliance Alive and Legend of Legacy. I promise to finally play it 😂
I need one of these for GBA. I missed that generation and I want to catch up on whatever good JRPGs are on there. And other games worth playing too.

Idk if you've skimmed through the ps3 eshop, but a ton of ps1/ps2 classics are not available elsewhere on there to own. Xenogears, Chrono Trigger, a ton of old smt, plus persona 3 fes. I mean, I know there's a remake coming, but in case for those people who have a preferred version of the game, that one isn't available elsewhere. I know some have had a (remake or remaster), but grandia 1-4, parasite eve 1-2, chrono cross, vagrant Story, ogre/ff Tactics, threads of fate (my favorite rpg no one cares about), ff 1-9, those are just the obvious, but seriously tons more of literal classics that people are like when will it come, (Xenogears/never), so get them while you can if you haven't. You could pad out your list more with a few more smt ps2 games from the ps3 eshop.
Also, one thing I'm doomed with now.
Never got any dq on 3ds, so goodbye sweet precious dlc only available halfway through the game.
Nor did I get Stella glow :/
I got ff conquest and the other 2 as dlc in there.

There was dlc that was legitimately the final chapter, so if not. More stuff lost forever.
Curse you rpgs and your dlc that is locked away under some kind of progress or something.
Some had free stuff from the beginning, but plenty, you need to reach a certain part of the game.
Like all the smt/persona q games and monster hunters.

Codename steam a fun stragety game that uses steam to move around with. Highly recommend especially if you got the fe amiboo for robin he's very strong
Senran kagura 1 2 both fun to play
Project X zone 1 and 2. Dun combo games and large maps are basically one huge story each time. 2 is a big more free and fun that way.
Pokemon Kirby sonic Mario games enough said.

A very intresting list with some entries I haven't heard from before and some I really should play already. But Fates is so much better then Echos. And I'd also put Awakening higher, but I guess Echos is a good entry into the series. But it's kind of ironic, because my entry into the series is actually Awakening. But with my wiered habbit of hardly ever really finishing a game, fates is something really special, since I played through all three storys entirely and through the thrid one even multiple times.
3 games that are in my top 10 are KH Dream Drop Distance, Rune Factory 4, and Tales of the Abyss
Honorable mention is Conception 2

I loooove the Senran Kagura series!!! Deep Crimson really is a ton of fun, especially with the DLC that unlocks chibi forms for everyone, and the others that add the only male character in the series and more "cultured" customization options! This is one of the best games in the series! I just wish Sony didn’t ruin the games’ future!
Huh, always been a huge 3ds fan and have a modded new 3ds wirh just about every game on it, also a big altus fan, but ive never even heard of 7th dragon thanks for the rec

As someone who loves SMT 3 and 5 I think they missed in 4... it was a pain in the ass to play. Strange Journey was way more fun.
I love DQVII, DQVIII and Tales of Abyss, but I played them too much on PS2 to care.
