Thank god for Hshop. I've been exploring so many digital titles I passed up. 9 times out of 10 I buy a digital game, play it for a short while, drop it, forget I have it, and unfortunately never play it again therefore wasting money. Sadame was one I recently downloaded and hope to start it soon. One digital title I've been playing lately is Kirby's Blowout Blast. It's been a lot of fun to play and the fact that it's a reimagining of Kirby's Dream Land is a big plus. Great video, hope to see more like it.
Ever Oasis was such a charming and fun game, just loved it! Going into dungeons, recruiting new allies and improve your own Oasis made for such an addictive gameplay loop. Sadly it was released close to the Switch and got outshinned. But it was one the best games I played on 3DS.
It was one of the first games I downloaded on mine about 6 months or so ago? I didn’t know that it was such a highly rated game?! Definitely gonna play it!
thanks for the list, these videos always help me realize that i really don't know every 3ds game that interests me despite being a massive 3ds nerd... this system always surprises me and my backlog
7th dragon is definitely a must, played the ds version, then the psp one, and then the 3ds, such an underappreciated series that can be both easy and challenging at times if you don't level your characters correctly
You basically carried the eShop closure mayhem when it came to 3DS recommendations. I held onto getting games for too long but I managed to gather a really great selection thanks to you (and another youtuber who wouldn't stop talking about feet, can't recall his name)
Code name steam also has the amazing ability of getting robin ike Marth and lucina as playable characters. Robin is super op with his attacks and defense. Definitely a very underated game and this system of game deserve more love
I remember buying Moco Moco Friends when I worked at Gamestop, because we inexplicably got one copy and I bought it sight unseen. I...should probably play it now that its on this list.
crimson shroud was fun yeah, its exactly if you are a play character in a dnd game, the narration of the game is told as if a dm was setting the tone, choices to be made, rolls to very those choices, and yes different rolls during battle to check your damage on top of effects. However, If you aren't much into narration games and with no real exploration it might not be for you. 7th dragon on the other hand is a game i physically own and i only really bought it because it was a special edition at gamestop and it looked fancy. Sadly it is collecting dust on the shelf since i never played it, but im seeing it so often on YT as of late that i really should give it a go.
This channel is always such a breath of fresh air. Almost all of these games I had never heard of except Maid in Heaven and that was from.. YOU lol. Great work as always. After ahem unlocking the hidden power of my 3ds I have started a few rpgs and yes it is a vastly (now a days) underrated console as are many of the titles. Thank you!
some of my personal faves when I first got my 3DS were the yokai watch series and fossil fighters I got my 3ds as a birthday gift when I was a kid and I remember that my moms friend got me fossil fighters frontier because they knew I liked dinosaurs id never heard of it before but damn did it become one of my all time favorite games on that 3ds I had lots of fun with it and I'm glad I played it I reccomend it for anyone who likes dinosaurs and monster battling + catching like games it's very fun
LBX, Code name Steam, SMT4A, and 7th Dragon are all in my backlog. I went on a spending spree when they announced that they were discontinuing the 3ds.
Great video. Actual genuine hidden gems in the system rather than just "good games that weren't super popular." I've been playing 3DS for 10 years and I hadn't heard of half of these games.
Been playing a fan translation of Dragon quest monsters: Terry’s Wonderland 3D (a remake of the first gbc DQ monsters game). It’s like a fusion of pokemon and SMT. You can tell the basic gameplay loop is a little dated but I have like 80hrs into it and I am still hooked. The monster recruiting and combining system gives you TONS of control over your monster’s skills and abilities. It is so much fun to create the ultimate monsters!! Every monster has a a little extra charm from their history in the mainline DQ games and the pun-style naming system. And despite being over 10yrs old, the online rank ladder is STILL online granting players the ability to earn extra items and monster eggs. It has taken over my free time in the best way. I cannot believe that I missed out on this series for so long! How have they not ported more DQ monsters games to the US?? So excited to dive into the fan translations for DQ monsters 2 and joker 3 on the 3DS after finish Terry’s wonderland. Plus the new release of DQ monsters 3 for the switch! I’m buying DQ monsters 3 to support the franchise in the west because I want other people to fall in love with these games as much as me 😁
Great picks. I am playing river city Tokyo rumble for the 3ds I love it. I bought some of the pal exclusive 3ds physical games Senran kagura burst, rhythm, Haven, inazuma eleven and one piece unlimited cruise 1 and 2 and Dillon dead heat breakers.
Codename STEAM was tragic. It was a good game that was held back by the very dumb decision to not let the player fast forward the enemy phase on release. And considering the enemy phase is only from your playable character's perspective it can be a lot of blankly looking at walls while enemies shuffle around behind them for minutes at a time. They patched it later but by then the damage was done and no one cared anymore. But besides that non-issue, it's a very fun little strategy game.
Apocolypse was goofier than IV but I thought it was a lot more fun and put together better. I think it's probably my second favorite SMT game after Strange Journey (and SJ Redux). I would also love to see Switch remasters of the Devil Survivor games.
7th Dragon is really nice! Just a story to share, when Honkai Star Rail launched, I played it for a bit and remembered that I bought 7th Dragon but haven't started it yet. I thought I can play both 7th Dragon and HSR at the same time but I was wrong. I got so hooked with 7th Dragon that I haven't touched HSR again till now. 🤣
Nice list as always! I always find at least 1 game if not multiple that I need to add to my ever growing wishlist when watching your vids! This time I added Ironfall Invasion! Don't worry I know how to find a way to play it lol! As I'm getting older I have a harder time playing long gaming sessions on any handheld so I prefer playing them on my pc that is plugged in on my big tv with a controller. It's more convenient for me! I've missed on a ton of awesome games on the 3DS (I've played more on my Vita back then) so I'm happy that I can now try some of the games that I've missed! Great video and keep up the good work!
Thanks so much! So happy you found something new to checkout! So happy there’s ways for people to still try these amazing games! Hope you have a blast!
I own all but two of these: Ironfall and Sadame. I’m really surprised but happy to see the Moco Moco Friends mention! 💕 It’s a favorite hidden gem of mine. I love how cute it is!
Thank you for keeping my favorite console alive! I'm hoping that prices will not be criminal anymore as I wish that I could buy some of the games for my collection, but then again prices are impossibly high, specially if you live in Latin America. Thanks a lot for the great video.
liberation maiden is sort of the like the macross games on the psp back in the day and it plays really well and hell looks pretty damn good for something like that on the 3ds. I have played that game into the ground many times and i cannot get enough of it
Great choices as usual! Ever Oasis seems really cool, glad I was able to pick it up a couple years ago. I was thinking of modding my New 3DS XL, but I'm probably going to have to sell it for rent money; times have gotten rough 😞. Already parted with a few gems over the last couple months.
Liberation Maiden and Crimson Shroud exist on a physical Japanese release. It's titled Guild01. It includes 2 other titles on the cart too, Aero Porter and Weapon Shop de Omasse.
Thanks for all the recommendation videos before the eShop closing. There is only one game from this video which I couldn't buy: Moco Moco Friends. The game didn't got released over here in Europe (neither digital or physical). ~ kind regards ~
It's not a hidden gem in the traditional sense, but Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon is SUPER under spoken for. It's effectively a return to classic NES Castlevania but with the liberties and improvements of modern times. Better, fairer design, a dedicated sub weapon button, and better controls, sounds and bosses. It's an incredibly solid, well rounded game. It's only real "flaw" is it's length, but it was super inexpensive when the eShop was open and it's still varied enough in design choices that you can have a TON of replayability (both in terms story/endings and pure gameplay). It's easily one of my favorite games on the system and is just super solid all around. It's (IMO) good enough to be on a best 3DS games list, but it never is. That means it should be on any/many underrated games lists, yet it never is either. It falls into that middle ground which makes it even more underrated. I think that's because 1. It was overshadowed by the game it released as a bonus for the Kickstarter of, Ritual of the Night. 2. It came out late in the 3DS' lifespan. 3. It came out on several platforms, meaning the 3DS relase wasn't individually the most groundbreaking.
A hidden gem i found recently is River City: Tokyo Rumble. It's a semi-remake of the original nes game river city rumble but is a very nice and simple fighting game. Apparently kind of short but there's two other games in the series on the 3DS which are similar but just enough if you want more, this game entertained me alot on two two hour train rides today.
Sadame looks like my kind of game! Ever Oasis is hopefully going to be the next handheld game I go to. Thanks to you and one of many of your stellar recommendations! What am I saying?! I wanna play everything on this list!!! Thanks for throwing even more titles our way Guru! Stay awesome brother! #HallowedBeThyGamers
Dude thank you so much! My next entry for 3ds hidden gems will have one you put on my radar with heroes of ruin! Hope you have an awesome week my friend!
Every time I try and get my friends to play 7th dragon they look at me like I'm crazy. The premise of the story was so cool and I've never seen anything else like it.
Good 3DS eshop beside SADAME: - Sword & Darkness - Excave 1,2,3 - Brave Dungeon - Maplestory - River City Knight of Justice - Hana Samurai - Weapon shop de omasse - Adventure bar story - Adventure Labyrinth Story - Gravity Falls - Attack of friday Monster And many more~
I primarily missed out on the 3DS but it hasnt stopped me from picking a few games up physically. However I have not played any of them as i do not currently have a 3DS. Videos like this really help build my understanding of what I should hone in on. I have Lord of Magna, Radiant Historia, SMT IV Apocalypse, 7th Dragon Three and a few others with no way to play them. One of my next goals is to get a 3DS. Thanks Ren, this is greatness as usual!
I have Liberation Maiden on my 3DS. I only played it a few times, but it was pretty neat. I should go back to it sometime... As to games not on this list... it was eshop only, and a port from the PSP, but I have had a lot of fun with Unchained Blades. It's a mid-to-high difficulty dungeon crawler with 8 party members to choose from by the end, and it has a few other interesting mechanics, like having to tame enemy monsters to use in rhythm-based mass battles at certain points. It also has a built-in map, which makes it way easier over the original PSP version.
Never picked up Lord of Magna: Maiden Heaven, were so many essential pickups during the eshop closure that bound to miss some. Loved the guild series they did. Weapon Shop de Omasse is my most played hidden gem i picked up at the last minute. The writing in it is hilarious, definitely worth a revisit on all of those high quality indie titles. Maybe would make a good video covering more of these? Physical prices seem to be more settled now on 3DS so some gems definitely worth picking up.
Thanks for reminding us of Weapon Shop de Omasse!!! I played that game awhile back and forgot about it completely. Definitely gonna download it on my 3ds again.

Love the 3ds and thank you so much for the recommendations! I also relate to your insomnia and father combo! 😂
Liberation maiden is another one I’m going to be checking out very soon!!! They always seem to put the camera in exactly the right place where it should be ….😊
I got Lord of Magna, it took me some time to get around to it due to the multitude of 3DS titles I kept putting off in favor of logging in a gajillion hours into Pokemon X trying to breed Shiny 6IV Female Ralts and a Shiny Ghastly. BUT when I did pick up Lord of Magna one long trip home, I fell in love with the game but that love was short lived because that same long trip home, I hopped out of the car and my 3DS fell right out of my hand and smacked onto the concrete below...
Based. As a mech fan I loved LBX back then, although I played the PSP version. Liberation Maiden was the kind of games I wish Suda51 did more of, too. And yes the whole 7th Dragon series is a gem especially the last one. True shame there never a new one on recent consoles! And yeah I prefer SMT4A!
Aside from SMT IV: Apocalypse, I haven't played any of these games so it seems that I have some catching up to do. While SMT IV: Apocalypse might not be quite on the same level as the masterpiece that is SMT IV, it is a very good game and an interesting experiment in what could be done with SMT. The side quest involving Maruo is also one of the most hilarious things I've ever seen in an RPG. Maruo! Maruo! Maru Maru Maruo!
I think even SMT fans admit that Apocalypse has the best gameplay in the series lol. As much as I prefer vanilla IV as a whole, Apocalypse just fine-tuned IV's combat system to perfection and made coming back to IV harder.
Lovely list! I dont think I have any of these games tbh. I'll take note and will keep my eyes open for some of these games. Awesome vid, Hallowed! 👍🤜💥🤛
Oh, also, the Guild01 collection got a physical release in Japan and has Liberation Maiden and Crimson Shroud, among others, albeit in Japanese and region locked. Though I'm sure there are...ways around that, if you wanted a physical copy for the collection.
I'd like to also recommend the game *Stella Glow* on the 3Ds. I hardly ever see anyone talk about it, but its an excellent little strategy RPG with some excellent voice acting, awesome music and a fun plot. The whole game really just sucked me in - so much so that I immediately went back into it to replay the whole game to try and get another ending. It's a crime that it's only available on the 3Ds.
It's great, which is why I put it on my top 10 3DS games just a few weeks ago. It deserves a lot more love but in my experience the games on today's list just needed some love too.
7th Dragon VFD also had a wide cast of popular japanese voice actors from JoJo, MHA, almost entire cast of AoT, etc., so if you are into that kind of thing it is also pretty entertaining. Also the soundtrack of this video is from there.
Half into the video just realized it uploaded yesterday lmao. So yeah, im geeting Sadame, Liberation Maiden and probably Crimsom Shroud just for the apparent to D&D. I have to say, have you ever mentioned Mario & Luigi Bowser Inside Story in a vid?? Its just that game had a lauch so unfair it didnt sell.
With the latest bunch of pc handhelds you could very easily port any stylus, wiimote hell even light gun game to them as they all have a built in touchscreen you can just poke away at. I even play mad bullets on my steam deck, granted I am waiting for my sinden light gun to play nice with my dock again to play it properly but when I feel the itch you can get by with touch
The Ironfall developers were a two man team called V-Dev who were legends on the GBA and DS, they produced some amazing hardware pushing titles. Check out V-Rally 3, Asterix & Obelix XXL and Driv3R on GBA and Cop - The Recruit on DS. Sadly one of them passed away not long after the release of Ironfall which along with the limited marketing and online only release explains why it never got more recognition. It also unwittingly contained a hacking exploit which I don't think Nintendo will have liked!
Have you played Ex Trooper, it's a hidden gem from Capcom that recently got English patch. It's one of the best looking game on 3ds with anime shooter style. And Puzzle&Dragons game too, it's very unique creature collection RPG
Great video dude as always! I wish I got more 3DS games but I'm just happy if any of them will get ported to more modern systems. So I'll just settle with watching your videos.
Inazuma Eleven is pretty big in part of Europe and Japan but it's not well known in many other places. Those games are extremely underrated. They are fabulous RPGs with great gameplay, great characters and story and great vibes and music.
I love Liberation Maiden but the controls are difficult for for lefties like me to get used to. I struggled but i beat it. The Final boss fight with its boss theme was well worth the struggle
I can't find Ever Oasis. Keeping my eyes open for that one. LBX is great. I kinda wish there was a bit more to differentiate all the many mech sets besides the minor defense stats. Still really good though. The controls are very responsive. Sadame reminds me a lot of Shining Soul 1 & 2. Many similar game mechanics.
Ha, i'm always happy when I see some 3DS games revisited. Nintendo games mostly age great and I feel little difference revisiting them. PSP games is a bit more rocky but damm what I wouldn't give for a rerelease of Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines. But anyway great list 🤌 LBX really was a one of a kind gem and i really enjoyed Ever Oasis too although that one ran out of steam for me. My hidden gem for the 3DS will probably be Infinite Space. I feel like it got more known as time passed but when it released it was really hard to get ... and well it isn't an easy game but like LBX truly an unique game on the system. Guilty pleasure would probably be Pop Cutie! Street Fashion Simulation. Yeah, it's as bad as it sounds but while it doesn't look like anything it was really solid and not that easy. Style Boutique was easy peasy ... this was not but I really enjoyed it.
lmao same here man, I LOVE SMT4A even more than the original SMT4, it's just more fun for me. Also Liberation actually got a sequel or some sort but it is a visual novel unfortunately

I think that's because
1. It was overshadowed by the game it released as a bonus for the Kickstarter of, Ritual of the Night.
2. It came out late in the 3DS' lifespan.
3. It came out on several platforms, meaning the 3DS relase wasn't individually the most groundbreaking.
I’ve got Ever Oasis sitting on my shelf and I want to play it one of these days. It was actually made by the same people who did the Mana series.
@@HallowedBeThyGame Sick dude! Cannot wait!!! You do the same. Thanks for all you do brother!
WOW!
I never knew about Ironfall invasion?! I think I’ll download it next!!
Thanks!
Every time I try and get my friends to play 7th dragon they look at me like I'm crazy. The premise of the story was so cool and I've never seen anything else like it.
Never even heard of 7th dragon. Totally gonna go check it out
7th dragon as a series is severely underrated
I love how 7th dragon is your #1 on EVERY 3ds list lol
Currently digging content like this. Subscribed.
Good 3DS eshop beside SADAME:
- Sword & Darkness
- Excave 1,2,3
- Brave Dungeon
- Maplestory
- River City Knight of Justice
- Hana Samurai
- Weapon shop de omasse
- Adventure bar story
- Adventure Labyrinth Story
- Gravity Falls
- Attack of friday Monster
And many more~
I'll just add to the praise to Ever Oasis, definitely caught me off guard because of how good it is
Someone else knows about LBX! Fun game and not even expensive.
Dude I’m so happy you’re enjoying these and golly do you have some of the absolute goats already! I can’t wait to hear what you think of them!
They always seem to put the camera in exactly the right place where it should be ….😊
I had never heard of Moco Moco Friends. Thanks! 😊
Heck ya! Great minds think alike! 7th Dragon needs to comeback!
Haha people just don't understand how hilarious the Maruo questline is. It is peak comedy in gaming to me lol.
I think even SMT fans admit that Apocalypse has the best gameplay in the series lol.
As much as I prefer vanilla IV as a whole, Apocalypse just fine-tuned IV's combat system to perfection and made coming back to IV harder.
Wow only heard of two of these. In the middle of Ever Oasis right now after putting it down in 2018.
Lovely list! I dont think I have any of these games tbh. I'll take note and will keep my eyes open for some of these games. Awesome vid, Hallowed! 👍🤜💥🤛
everytime that i see one of yours videos, my list only gets bigger hahahaha but i'm not complaining!!! great video as always :)
Yay! Thank you!
A 3DS game that I haven't seen any recommendation is 50 Pinch Barrage!! It's like the classic game Pitfall but with a funny twist.
Oh, also, the Guild01 collection got a physical release in Japan and has Liberation Maiden and Crimson Shroud, among others, albeit in Japanese and region locked. Though I'm sure there are...ways around that, if you wanted a physical copy for the collection.
Oh snap I didn’t know that
@@HallowedBeThyGame It's also like 20 bucks on ebay right now from multiple sellers.
Crimson Shroud was a day 1 buy for me. Yasumi Matsuno never fails.
@@HallowedBeThyGame Ah, I didn't see that video but now I'll need to track it down. :D
The more endings you see in magna carta the weirder it gets especially the dialogues of the later maidens :)
Ironwhore invasion was one I totally missed.
liberation maiden and code name steam be friggin awesome
The Ironfall developers were a two man team called V-Dev who were legends on the GBA and DS, they produced some amazing hardware pushing titles. Check out V-Rally 3, Asterix & Obelix XXL and Driv3R on GBA and Cop - The Recruit on DS. Sadly one of them passed away not long after the release of Ironfall which along with the limited marketing and online only release explains why it never got more recognition.
It also unwittingly contained a hacking exploit which I don't think Nintendo will have liked!
Definitely gonna be checking out Sadami!!!
Sorry if I spelled it wrong? I’ll look for it on the Hshop!
Have you played Ex Trooper, it's a hidden gem from Capcom that recently got English patch. It's one of the best looking game on 3ds with anime shooter style.
And Puzzle&Dragons game too, it's very unique creature collection RPG
Pretty nice video! I'll be looking into some of these 👀
Hope you enjoy!
Great video dude as always! I wish I got more 3DS games but I'm just happy if any of them will get ported to more modern systems. So I'll just settle with watching your videos.
Ironfall had a switch port announced, but I haven’t heard anything about it in years
Inazuma Eleven is pretty big in part of Europe and Japan but it's not well known in many other places. Those games are extremely underrated. They are fabulous RPGs with great gameplay, great characters and story and great vibes and music.
Quality titles, as always!
Thank you 😊
I love Liberation Maiden but the controls are difficult for for lefties like me to get used to. I struggled but i beat it. The Final boss fight with its boss theme was well worth the struggle
Did you ever aimed to complete normal/hard story 10 times? i assume that for sure would not be easy for lefties.
another hidden gem: stella flow. thank me later
Thank You
One of the most hidden gems in the 3DS
In my backlog. Heh.
you mean stella glow?
@@alvienlee7235 yes
is that the sequel
But anyway great list 🤌
LBX really was a one of a kind gem and i really enjoyed Ever Oasis too although that one ran out of steam for me.
It’s so good! And dang that’s wild Liberation Maiden got a sequel VN!
