Well, ya didn't get skunked! Was up at Frenchman's Lake, CA Friday and nothing! Cold and windy as heck. I thought the weatherman called for a decent day before the turn of weather on Sat but no such luck. I was on the side with the crashing waves, and leftover ice sheets! Ice still near the dam area but not feeling it's safe to venture out on. Still, the worst day fishing is better ... than being cooped up at home! Good for you snaggin the one good pan sized treat! 🎣
When that ice starts washing up on shore it sucks to deal with it! It's what drove me off the lake in my first Lake Davis clip. All caught up in the line...aaaaah! I feel your pain!
Yes it can! Throwing that giant full moon on top of it can only make it rougher! In all fairness, I should have stuck to my original plan and skipped the experimental stop.
You probably won't believe this one it's true tho!! Back in the 80's I used to catch browns in the feather river that were 8 & 10 pounds!! They were huge fish in them day's,👍🎣🎣 Lake almanor is incredible, beautiful.
@@mymountainlife0707 no bud, I live in clearwater Idaho, it's steelhead season up here!! There also huge, 10 to 15 lbs easy, thx for the comment, hope you fish yourself, it's a great time, be well my friend,
Nice video! I live in lake almanor and its nice to see that someone is videoing their fishing adventures in this area because there aren't much folks but you and fish hunt shoot productions. Thanks 👍
When you go to plumas county again head up to the feather river above Quincy and look up a place called Caribou Crossing. It’s a beautiful place one of my favorite spots to fish. It’s a river that feeds into the feather river and has awesome Rainbow and Brown action! Fast water and slow water and all sorts of spots! It’s beautiful!
Right on. I was talking about that very area with a couple of dudes that were out in a boat on this day. They pulled up to shore and we had a nice discussion about the Middle fork of the Feather River. I will definitely check out the area. I'll just explore the situation going in cold. I don't want to crash people's secret spots. Thanks for the insight and adding to my desire to explore the area.
I’ll go with ya so you don’t go it alone! Lol it can definitely be dangerous and always better to have someone with ya! Find me on Facebook Cody Zimmerman
Check out either of my clips "rigging up for reservoir trout" or "My general strategy for deep water reservoir trout" on my fishing tips playlist. They both have overlapping information so one might be enough. Adjust your leader length as needed depending on water depth and being able to cast far enough out. I also have several clips that might be useful to you on that playlist such as one for choosing weights, avoiding snags, securing your rod, using lures, etc. I hope that helps. Good luck.
Nice fishing Amani! When you throw jigs and rapalas what kind of knot do you use? I usually just use an improved clinch knot but I have heard that loop knots can be more effective because they give more realistic movement. Haven’t been able to fish much recently but will be doing my own experimentation asap. Love your videos man keep up the great fishing!
I pretty much use the same not for most of fishing. The one in my beginner clip for tying knots! I get good enough action on my lures through rod movement. I show how I fish rapalas in my Hetch Hetchy and Big Pine Lakes clips.
I usually stick with the yellow/green/orange swirl but on this trip I had a jar of the red/white/blue swirl that looks pink. I just wasn't getting any hits. I typically stick with on e color.

A lot of the days struggles were self inflicted! I had a plan, I should have stuck to it! Oh well, fun day just the same.

The bad luck is probably due to the full moon
That definitely came to mind when I was driving home under the giant full moon!!
Yes sir I'm an avid fisherman and in my experience whenever the full moon phase comes around fishing gets pretty tight
How long do you change your colors of Powerbait dough or do you keep the same color until you get a bite
