Auger Snowblower on Lizard Head Pass

- We won't worry about our conductor declaring a busted drive shaft from the snowshed here at Lizard Head... A, there's no snowshed, B, this isn't the Galloping Goose. So there's no real need for the C.W. McCall references here. Instead, we find a CDOT (Colorado Department of Transportation) tractor pushing an auger snowblower toward the pass's summit on Colorado Highway 145. I'd shot this footage and a few stills while I still had possession of a Nikon Zf which I'd rented for the Durango and Silverton's Winter Photographer's Train (the final one with coal-burning locomotives on the railroad).
The operator flagged me down asking for still images so he could show his children, so I'm also posting this to show it to them in operation in video. Enjoy this quick break from the steam locomotives! - Авто та транспорт
Thank you for doing that - Sean does a great job!
Very cool!
RGS 20 watching this: "Where in H*ll whas this in march of '38?"
That rotary looks strange, where is the engine and where are the rails
We're just as confused....
It’s close enough to rotary 02 haha
But there wont' be a low water condition...
Too bad it was only 34 seconds!
@donaldgodin3491, alas, I was only really only trying to get a few seconds of footage to begin with. I had rented the Nikon Zf to capture the last runs of coal burning in Durango and still had a few hours till I had to drop it off and the presented itself. Luckily, I had wrapped up my attempt at snowshoeing when he arrived.
@@Big_Diehl That was some powerful snow blower. Hope you could put another video of that same snow blower on UA-cam, but for a longer period of time. That would be great! Thanks for your reply.
