    You hit that one out of the park, Jordan. That was excellent. Credit to Marcus for remembering all that from 1955 and earlier. James Dean seems more real now. Jimmy was really lucky to a have a solid family and place to grow up in.

    James was from a stable supportive family but the media or at least folklore wants to present him as a lost rebel. His death must have created a huge void in the family and he sure was well loved by them.

    • @donnaclagett8249
      @donnaclagett8249 4 роки тому +7

      He and his father weren't close, he wasn't raised by him after his Mother died. That has an affect on a child but doesn't say his Father wasn't supportive. He was raised by family in a small farming community, which is stable and supportive.

    • @santinabellydance
      @santinabellydance 4 роки тому +2

      He was extremely close to his Mum, so when she died when he was a boy, it definitely left a noticeable and huge void in him. Shortly after, his father sent him to live with his Aunt and Uncle.

    • @rollydoucet8909

      Dean's rebellious nature was probably the result of his upbringing. He lost his mom at an early age. Fortunately, the Winslow family provided a home and family environment for him, but he was not destined to spend his life in quiet Fairmont Indiana. Life's path took him from Indiana to California, to New York. The stage and film industry allowed him to express his artistic qualities. He was definitely a self made man. Few people got to know him well. His life was cut short, and the world lost an interesting and talented person.

      Funny thing about Fairmont. In the 1970's, for a brief time, Amtrak re-routed its' "Cardinal" passenger train between Cincinnati and Chicago over the C & O Railroad line which passed through James Dean's birthplace. I was booked in a roomette, but fell asleep for some time before we arrived in South Bend. The conductor later told me that he took great pride in advising the passengers about James Dean when the train passed through Fairmont.

    Oh wow Jordon, that was very special. How wonderful that this man can tell the world about the "brother" he knew and loved. Those photos of them together say everything. It makes me sad that they couldn't grow old together and be able to sit in that garage together and remissness about their lives. It is wonderful that he is willing to share his home and his memories of Jimmy's life. It was a miracle for James Dean to have and Aunt and Uncle who took him in as their own and loved him as their own, along with their children. From all I've heard you say, that town, that house, was a wonderful place to be a kid. Thank you Jordon. Amazing.

    That was an "EPIC" vlog Jordan!! 😁 What a cool guy Dean's cousin is for being willing to share with you and your subscribers!
    I loved it when he laughed at Shelley's story and her impression of Dean. Just great to gain personal insight into the legendary man
    by someone who grew up with him! Dean definitely had that certain spark that set him apart from others and which was undeniable
    There's no doubt that his relatives who took
    him in after the tragic loss of his mother at such a tender young age gave him the much needed loving guidance to pusue his dreams!
    He definitely sounded like he was seriously tempermental and I'm guessing alot of that was the loss of his mom and strained relations with his dad. The combination of the two was a recipe for the making of a great artist! Since his cousin mentioned he was alot like his on screen characters I'll definitely be checking out his movies from our local library soon!

Marcus is the one closest we'll probably ever get to finding out about the true James Dean. To us fans, James Dean was a legend and his death at the age of 24 was a tragedy, but to his family and friends, he remains simply Jimmy, a beloved friend and loved one. I wonder if Grauman's would even be interested in a double-remold copy of his handprint mastering off the one there on the farm. It wouldn't be necessary to take it, they could make a cast of a cast and take it to Grauman's. I guess they might not be interested in a print not created literally on their location, but I think under the circumstances, a Dean print could warrant an exception.

    What an amazing vlog !!! That guy had so much to say about James Dean, omg. He was so awsome!! just wish he would have lived longer. Giant showed his talent so much. He was so handsome, so great. Such an amazing actor gone too soon. ☹☹
    So glad to see this. It was wonderful. Btw, I loved my pawpaw so much that I love sleeping in his bed. I feel comfort. He died after my first son was born. And that bed still gives me comfort and strength. He was a huge part of my early childhood, and tried to raise me to be a stong woman. Great grandfathers are the best. I was blessed with 2. Named my first born after my mom' s dad. I miss him. Wow, that went far from James Dean lol. Sorry.

    When someone's star is put out far too soon, they echo across the eons to us for eternity. I will never forget his opening scene in Giant, that sideways look, haunting. Amazing interview Jordan, his cousin will be gone before long too, and that last bit of history a long with him. Thanks for getting it now before that happened.
