I've seen some people spray a bit of water on the pad & then the compound but your idea of changing the tip sounds way better. Bueno sir learned something new today now I need someone's car to screw up I mean polish yeah that's the ticket. standing by for the next one.

3 coats of clear and the last coat you want either the slickest Finish you can get or a very fine orange pill that cuts dead flat when you're going to color sand and buff if you want the Barrett-Jackson look flat like glass

At times, I use chemical guys "pad conditioner" to lube the pad before polishing.. this helps so the pad doesn't start dry

You got to use a harder block if you want to cut it dead flat and not polish it up and still have orange peel
