97 5.9 and factory coolant temp guage didn't just go to "erratic" it went OFF the deep end , diagnosis was sender (in cyl 6) changed sender STILL flippin wacky (agauy, by "WACKY" I mean PEGGED then 100 / Then PEGGED and staying at 300/ back to 90degrees etc... (truck wasn't over heating, zero smoke) just finishing up the isspro water temp, but I don't like where they suggest putting it in the 2nd gens thermostat housing instead of giving you a proper sized 1/2" NPT sender instead of the chinsy Little 1/4" That you'd have to add 4 adapters to make work I factory location.
(Btw, just a suggestion, I would advise NOT pressing that hard on the center of those guages to seat them in the pod, stick to the perimeter 🤘)
