Something that helps catch the metal shavings is using chassis/axle grease on drill bit and the tap. Most if not all the shavings will get captured. Sometimes cleaning and reapplying the grease is required. Sweet video.
Good video as always, perhaps consider some sealants on the threads for future installs. Another "trick: when doing the EGT is to drill and tap it with the engine running so it blows out the chips as you go. The cons to this is exhaust gas and small metal chips blowing in your face however haha.
Well, thanks for helping me spend half a grand. I need a set of gauges for my 09 as I tow now, and this is far more useful than standard analog. Great video, really explains what I needed to know to make my decision.
I know trying to hold the camera and do things is a giant pain in the ass, but you help a lot of people out. I can tell a lot of work goes into your videos you make them detailed and clear
Thanks, great video. Only complaint on my cts3 is I can't get the pitch/roll gauges to level out. Holding down on the gauge for 3 seconds as the manual says does nothing.
You can always use a box in ratchet wrench with directions selector when getting in tight places with the tap easier than a crescent wrench and way faster
Great video Andrew 👍🏻 I tried almost every edge programmer out and I must say the CTS3 is one of my favorite! The only downside is the egt probe I really had bad luck with... I replaced 2 sensor in 8 month’s
Greetings from Brazil, keep making videos like that because we love haha and help a lot to know about who i cant put on truck and make some good upgrades
Check out a steed speed exhaust manifold for your truck. I have one and they are a super nice piece. They have ports already for egt and drive pressure. Lower egt and deeper sound. Stock 3rd gen stock manifolds are known to crack from heat cycles. Love your videos. I'm also going to contact your tuner for efi live. I have bigger injectors and need tuning.
Got an issue- been running a raceme eco tune for about 7 months now with no issues. Defaults timing default trans settings. I just got my edge cts3 insight these last couple days. Set up the monitor yesterday and had my first drive with the truck to work today. When getting onto the highway Truck seemed to be completely gutless and would not up shift past fourth if I wasn’t going faster than maybe 50mph, rpm would sit around 2500 rpm. Any ideas if the monitor is interfering with the tune or maybe something else?
You need to go through the screen layouts until you see one with a power setting. Select that, then set power to 100. Same thing can happen with Smarty tuners.
Had my fuel sensor mounted directly to the CP3 for along time on my 05 5.9HO, never had a single issue with it. They arent as sensitive as they claim them to be, otherwise your high pressure sensor wouldnt be directly mounted to the rail, and neither would the oil sensor be mounted directly to the filter housing
Man, this video gave me anxiety because I would be over my head instantly. I have wanted this exactly setup in my 05, but figured the labor to have it all installed would be twice what it costs.
Could you make a detailed video of setting up each pid? I’m about to install these on my powerstroke. Egt, boost psi, fuel psi and transmission temperature. Thanks!
Just got a 2008 megacab dually 6.7 deleted and efi live tunes. Got the pyro egt eas installed. Picked up truck and the eas get temp was on monitor. The monitor froze. Had to unplug it then it reset and works. But my eas egt temp is gone and I can't get it back and it's not in the menu. The eas expansion option says no eas found?. Any solutions. Hey! Just installed the CTS3 in my 06 5.9. Truck is now in limp mode and can’t get it out?? I run a Smarty Jr on Performance normally, that was flashed in the truck before I installed the Edge. Help!
I bought 2 for my '06 ram and 1 for my '04 Saturn vue 6 cyl. at the same time. after about 10 mos. the charge in the Saturn would be dead after sitting for 1 week. Odyssey would not prorated or help at all. bought a battery at auto zone, been fine for 3 years! truck batteries have been good the whole time.
Andrew... Great videos and thanks... Can I run this by you? '07 5.9. I connected up fuel pressure line/sensor per your instructions. I'm reading 9-10 PSI for fuel pressure . I'm running a FASS Titanium 165, which is advertised as 16-18 PSI. Any thoughts on why my fuel pressure seems low of should I not be worried about this. Thanks in advance. Please keep the videos coming.
@@JustDiesels Thanks Andrew... Well, I found the problem and I feel like a real DA. I disconnected the 0-100 PSIG sensor from the tapped banjo bolt fitting and connected up an analog test gauge. Fired her up and I was reading 20 PSI. Reconnected the pressure sensor and started the truck. Still reading 9-10 on the Banks iDash. Went into the Banks iDash settings and pulled up the low-side fuel pressure menu. It was set at 0-50 PSI. Reset it to 0-100 psi (which is the correct range for that sensor) and backed out of the menu. Started her up and voila - Now reading 19-20 PSI. Low-side fuel pressure reading correctly now. Also, I feel good about confirming that the low-side fuel pressure is actually really good at nearly 20 PSI.
Ive watched a few of these CTS3 videos. But one thing i am noticing is that they are all being tested, used or reviewed by diesel owners. So is it safe to assume they are not worth it if i have a gas truck? Ive actually decided against the CTS 3 since they dont seem to attract (or benefit i assume) gas owners.
So to be clear you are not running the actual juice module? I currently have the edge cts2 system but i have just been using the cts 2 monitor because Im running efi live. My juice module is unplugged? IS the juice module necessary for the cts 3 to work? thanks
I've got a version one of the Edge with a pyro connected, will that pyro plug into a cts3? Or do I need to order the new edge with a new pyro? Thank you
I’m disappointed with my CTS3. I have to unplug the HDMI each time I start the truck. It gets stuck “loading gauges” if I don’t unplug it. Wish I had gone with analog gauges.
@Just Diesels.. Excellent Video. Followed to the T but can't understand why I'm getting 113 PSI on oil pressure? That doesn't seem right. Wonder if the sender is bad. Any thoughts. Thanks much and keep up the great videos.
@@JustDiesels Thank you for the reply. Yes, gauge option is set to psig (0-100 psig). At idle (750rpm), it reads 108-110 when the instrument cluster gauge reads 40psi. At 1500 RPM, gauge reads 112-113 psi when the instrument cluster gauge reads 50 psi. I'm stumped. Any ideas where I might start to troubleshoot?
@Just Diesels So, I got this issue figured out I believe. I bought an analog pressure test gauge and tested the oil pressure at the top of the oil Filter bracket. Oil pressure looked considerably better (as in much more normal). I figured that it had to be the oil pressure sensor that went bad. I replaced the oil pressure sensor and all appears good now on the readings. 70 PSI cold idle, At normal operating temp (190 F), 23 PSI at idle, 55 PSI at 1500 RPM and 66 PSI at 2000 RPM. Thanks again for your responses and please keep the awesome videos coming!!!
edge ct3 in my 7.3 doesnt read boost correct, its way lower than probe hooked direct into turbo. i will be at like 15 boost, and it will say like 8. Dissapointed for how much it costed. reading codes and things will be useful if it actually works for that purpose though.
My only concern is the fuel line! My 2012 will keep cranking for a while until it starts (unless you remove the key fob) or the ECM decides to stop and prevent Starter damage. I'm not sure what year this started? I know the push button start does this (not sure how to stop that system?) .. if someone tries to fill that hose with fuel and it keeps going until a few quarts of fuel escapes you're going to have a HUGE Mess!!! Let alone dealing with all that pressure! I don't think it will inject it into your skin and kill you but maybe if your trying to stop it with your fingers? I know the old style injection system for Diesels you can fire an injector without It being installed and have the fuel basically inject enough fuel to make it your last day on earth! I would have a way to kill the power to the starter quickly if you try that on a newer Cummins or even any modern Diesel engine.that Pressure after the pump is nothing to take for granted what is it 10k 20k 30k PSI? I don't remember but it's a lot.
On a new truck, simply key to the power on position (engine off) and the lift pump will start flowing and accomplish the same task. The fuel will never inject into your skin since we’re on the low pressure side of the injection pump. This is low psi fuel from the lift pump we’re measuring.
What the heck. I had a CTS3 installed and it didn’t work right. The PID’s did not work right etc. CTS said they didn’t have the software for it yet. This was last year. So I’ve been running the CTS 2.
@@JustDiesels dang, thanks writing back. That’s strange. I wonder if my mechanic that put it in did something wrong…… do you like it that much more than the CTS 2? Is it worth me to try again?

the same meticulous work ethic and video quality we'd expect from Andrew, very solid set up, can't wait for you to do more with this truck
