UPDATE (08/24/21)- Gauges are still working great with zero issues!
Good to hear that
for the oil temp, did you need extra wiring to make it to the fire wall?
@@knatzonum678 I don't have an oil temperature gauge only oil pressure. The oil pressure gauge came with plenty of wire to install. I would assume the same for the oil temperature gauge!
@@wesmartin8314 appreciate it brodie!
this might be a dumb question but does it work with superchargers
Nothing wrong with Glow Shift guages. I never had a problem with them, EVER. Most people who say they suck, like you said, make it about a status thing. Both my cousin and I have the same Dodge Ram 1500 boosted 5.7 Hemi. Since we modify together, we have everything the same except the guages. He has the expensive guages and I have Glow-Shift. Our transmission temps, turbo boost, and oil pressure all read almost exactly to each other. We have had these going on almost 4 years now.
That is awesome to hear! Super cool to hear about a side by side comparison!
Been running these for years. Even regularly pushing 65psi of boost on my compound turbos. Never had an issue
That's awesome to hear! Thank you for watching!
Great review. I also have a number of GlowShift gauges. 4 years and not one problem.
I’m even utilizing a dual needle turbo air temp gauge with a pair of their liquid type sensors to measure charge air coolant and engine coolant temperature. I bet they never thought that would work!!! But it works great. Again. Great review keep up the good work.
Thank you for the kind words! Honestly means a lot!
Thanks for reviewing these, I was lookin into getting some and this helped a lot.
So glad I could be of help!!
Im about to buy the oil pressure gauge which is right at $100 bucks ship to my door which sucks on price but hopefully does what i need and im gonna get a temperature sensor gauge too which is around $70 bucks
Hopefully get them soon to try them out makw my S10 alot better
Just installed these on my 85 Cutlass supreme. Oil pressure, temp and voltage. excellent
Thats awesome! Thank you so much for watching!
Thanks man, I think ill order a set for my truck now; temp, oil, voltage
Get a trans temp
My oil pressure gauge leaks. But I did not buy the Glowshift sandwich plate I got the Mishimoto. I’m thinking it’s a sensor problem because they use the same thread
They accurate atleast the boost gauge I want to be within a psi or two?
Yup! They are within one or two psi. I found this out when tuning my WRX. The gauge was reading about 1 psi lower than what the ECU was reading. Overall accurate and consistent.
In my experience boost gauges are the least essential gauge to be accurate unless you are really pushing past the limits of what your car can handle. It’s more of just a flex thing.
Just installed oil pressure gauge into my focus. Fun experience and very rewarding. Thing is about ford is the oil pressure sensor comes on only witg 5 psi. Going to also do this to my OBS ford
Over 8yrs know problems
i just got a set of 3. oil pressure oil temp and a clock lol 05 wrx
That’s awesome! I miss my wrx sometimes. I hope you enjoy it!
So I’m a fan of autometer and I had a autometer instrument panel. After 2 years my fuel level and MPH stopped working!! I only knew how fast I was going from my radar detector and could make a good guess from listening to my engine. Yes it’s 2024 but I just bought my dream mustang; a 2013 Shelby gt500 vert. The wideband autometer gauge gets 1 star bc the guy is on his 2nd gauge: 1 year 1 month the numbers fade. Anyway autometer NV electrical boost, fuel pressure, oil pressure, and wideband is over 1100, glowshift is 555ish. Going with the glow
Thanks for your honest review and information, I appreciate it.
Of course! Happy it was useful!
Do you know they're accurate??? That's what counts after all
Yes that is super important! From my personal experience they read accurately and very consistently. The only thing is when it comes to boost they tend to be about 1psi below or above what you actually make. Which honestly isn't the end of the world. Oil pressure is also very accurate. An engine up to temperature should idle at about 20psi and my gauge shows that everytime.
@@wesmartin8314 How did you determine this?
@@tonydinh9044 The VW 1.8t should idle no lower than 18.9psi (warm). My glow shift gauge will sit right at 20psi at optimal temperature while idling. Now the boost gauge reading a psi high or low comes from when I was tuning my wrx. I have another glow shift boost gauge in that car and the boost gauge was reading a psi higher than the computer was saying (reading off of the ecu). For my application in the VW where I just daily drive the car 1 psi isnt a deal breaker for me. Hope this helped!
@@wesmartin8314 do you remember what sandwitch adapter is needed for the 1.8ts?
@@anthonystackhouse3126 I cannot find my original order sadly but I did some hunting online and found some info for you. I believe the thread pitch is 3/4"- 16 tpi so I went on Glow Shifts website and found this adapter. I provided the link below!

Thanks for making that video. I have never heard of glow shift gauges B4. I am looking to put some in my 2002 F150 4x4 mainly for the look. And by the way I am 60yrs old and you do a great review of the gauges . Thanks again. Sincerely Roger H.
Glad the video was helpful!
Awesome! Been looking for someone who’s used them long term. I just ordered a trans temp and an oil temp gauge for my Jeep Comanche. Thanks for the review. I’ve made up my mind
That is awesome to hear man! I'm glad I could help!!
Hows the trans temp guage treating ya?
@@TheKellisunshyne great! Never had an issue with them yet.
They aren't that great of a deal anymore, there are others. They have gone up. Unless your crazy about 7 colors. It also must be illegal for them to have chrome ring gauges. Also they seem to cater to diesel packages and not classic car packages for a better deal. Have a kit with mph, rpm, water, volt, fuel, oil,. their logo on every gauge needs to be redone, its cheap and ugly.
What are they for? I just bought an 08 challenger srt8 and it came with two gauges like those and had no idea what they were for 😂😂
The gauges should be universal. As for what each gauge does it should be printed on the gauge face
I purchased three gauge from glowshift and non of it work.
2:02 Oh how I already miss those old PA inspection stickers. The new ones are so freakin' ugly
I'm glad I just reviewed your video because this entire time I was thinking I had a faulty Glow Shift Boost gauge because it was displaying a negative reading in my 86 Grand National. Now I know it's reading vacuum and that's a good thing. I went out and bought all new Auto Meter Cobalt Digital Series Boost, Oil, and Water Temp gauges with electrical sending units to hopefully fix the problem. After hearing your review, I don't think I even have a problem. I'm thinking about returning the Auto Meter gauges now.
Super glad I could be of help! I am always happy to hear my video helped someone! Thank you for watching!
Yeah I got in a newer wrx and it reads boost on the display and it’s almost ways in negative when daily driving
Mine works great and looks good. Tech support was very good also.
Spend too much time talking about things other than the gauge. I dont care about how often you go into boost.
It's called made in China. Cheap or moral? You decide.
Aem is so expensive also autometer but I’d definitely will try glowshift
I love my glow shift gauges. Over a year old and still work great! Water temp and oil pressure.
Thats awesome to hear!
I will never buy GlowShift gauges again.there sensors are terrible
That's unfortunate, I would suggest sending an email over to them explaining your issue. I bet they can get it taken car of! Thanks for watching!
I'm here because I have a Glowshift wideband gauge with my mild cam and a few ppl said that brand is inaccurate. I'm looking into a vacuum gauge and trying to find opinions.
My truck had these gauges when I bought it, I like them but
I hope they all work out man! 5 years is a super long time! I really hope I can squeeze a few more years out if mine!
i personally have had bad luck with electric oil pressure glowshift gauges
Mine is wack won’t even read vacuum anymore does even drop when I turn off the car it just stays at 0psi
Sounds like you have a vacuum leak somewhere. I would check for one. The gauge is going to sit at 0 when turned off no matter what since its mechanical
9 minutes of just yapping. Didn't show the operation of anything...
Yeah totally didn't go over anything. Thanks for your very helpful comment
So, yours works as poorly as mine.I tested mine by hooking it to a common pressure port in the car, & powered it through the supplied harness, (so there would be no resistance issues) . It was almost 5 lbs off my mechanical gauge reading , ok not a problem ., but on the high end it was about 10lbs off . The real issue is if a gauge consistently drops lower & lower during a long trip it's time to go home...YOU CANNOT DETERMINE THIS if the gauge is wildly inaccurate ... With the engine off ! (but still warm ) I've had readings of 20 lbs , 15 lbs ,& then 8 ilbs ,& now that it's cooled for an hour it's 5lbs with the engine off, ALL IN THE SAME HOUR PERIOD .Since cold will give you less resistance & as a result higher voltage ,"unless you can calibrate the gauge to match" ,THESE GAUGES ARE A WASTE OF TIME...
I recently learned something I did not know about factory oil gauges and perhaps maybe others... In some vehicles with oil pressure factory gauges what they display may not really be true. I recently drove such a vehicle and that is the only reason I looked it up because I knew that actual oil pressure does not behave as this one read. turns out the gauge only worked like an idiot light with you having to have extreme low pressure before the needle would drop down.... Another thing ive noticed on my 20 year old gmc is that when i plug into the obd and use an app to monitor various readings that they do not exactly match what the factory gauges are saying even though they are getting there info from the system itself.. the engine temp especially catches my eye... the factory gauge does not even make sense as the first half of its sweep covers 100 degrees but the second half only covers 60 degrees... at normal temp it seems to be ok but as temp deviates away from that the gauge becomes more and more innacurate while the app seems to behave and read in a more believable way.... if that makes sense? basically to some degree or another the factory gauges in some cases behave more like idiot lights is the point... even though they are gauges... for anyone who works on cars having accurate info is critical and I no longer will trust factory gauges by default as i once did to provide that info. ordering me a glowshift trans temp gauge today
Challenge for you. If you are reading oil pressure with a glowshift sandwich adapter, try reading your oil pressure at any engine block oil gallery. You will see less.
The sandwich adapter has taps that are plumbed to the upstream side of your oil filter. You are only seeing the pressure upstream of your filter. If your filter were plugged, your oil pressure reading would max out as your engine ran dry.
Move your sensor downstream of the oil filter if you want to see what's actually happening in your oil galleries.
I've contacted Glowshift about this and their reply was something like "everyone does it that way".
Save your engine. Move your sensor. The sandwich adapter could still be used to determine delta P across your filter, but it's not properly designed to show you oil pressure at the motor.
This an awesome vid broski. ‘Twas a veedub dude for eons. Auto tech man lol. Run a focus st with a bit of boost, and I love me car. 300 hp 370 tq. Just bought an a pillar and zee gauges. I appreciate the help man
Just to let you know they were originally made for all diesels. We have trouble with our diesels, watching our turbo, boost, injectors, transmissions overheating, because of all the heavy stuff we haul.
Glowshift do you have a pillar pod for a 06 mustang convertible?
Im looking for digital boost 60psl and wide band the color white with black numbers it will need to be custom made please get back with me if you can put me in the right direction to get this gauges made
Have a 91 Dodge D250 Cummins Pre 91.5 so Non/IC with Glowshift gauges, have had them about a year and a half. NO problems Boost, Trans Temp and EGT All work great and makes it easy to monitor, since I put in the 46RH OD transmission the EGT can get up there as the Non/IC had bigger injectors and more fuel. I agree GlowShift work great. Thanks for the review
That's awesome! Thank you for watching!
There's already a threaded hole in the oil filter housing for after market oil pressure gauge sender, you didnt need to buy a sandwich plate adapter if you're only installing the oil pressure gauge
If you think they suck you can’t deny that they’re cosmetically pleasing
Zero issues with mine also ..lol there not plumbed in yet ...
Glad you aren't having issues!! Might wanna get them hooked up though haha
Awesome video bro and car as well. Hopefully you still have it lol. I have a MK4 GTI ive been wanting to get gauges for. What gague pod are you using?
Im going with Glowshift Gauges as well.
Yeah I actually do still have it and everything is still working haha. Here is the link to the pod I am using. Thanks for watching!

Nothing but positive results for Glow Shift Gauges.❤
Are they worth a dam
i got BOSCH boost gauge from amazon for $28, it is cheap and making cracking sound when I hit about 12 PSI, but it read correctly, I have double check it with my MAC Vacuum hand pump with a vacuum/pressure gauge on it. the reading from the bosch gauge match up with a professional tool.
That sounds like another awesome alternative! Thank you for the info!!
My glowshift was $450! For my frs
So does your boost/vacuum gauge work with or without turbo the reson I ask is because I have a stock chevy hhr 2008 and I just want it to look and feel cool for now I until I get something new but it's all about that first car right so any I ben thinking about getting some cool gauges and led interior lights 😎 just so I can feel like I'm in fast and the furious lol.
If I am thinking correctly a boost gauge can just monitor vacuum pressure. My personal suggestion if you want to add gauges to your car is to purchase a gauge that will monitor something else. There are tons to choose from. Like voltage, oil pressure, oil temp ect. I wouldn't waste your money on something that isnt going to actually do what its designed to do! That way you still get that "cool" factor but everything is still functional
Seriously is the desile fuel pressure gauge worth buying
i bought a glowshift gaugeset and the boost gauge doesnt work
Tnx,i am just buying oil press,AFR and fuel press!! For my Peugeot 206 Gti 180
Thats so awesome! Thank you for watching!!
I put these same gauges on my turbo 328i and the boost gauge didn’t read boost and only vacuum even when I stuck my air compressor on the end of the gauge it just stuck at 0psi
That is not good! Sounds like a faulty gauge, I bet if you emailed glowshift they would get you sorted out!
Ive been running Glowshift since 2015 ( oil pessure, temp, voltage, fuel, tach and speedo) I think they look good and have all worked well and still function fine.
That's awesome to hear!! Thanks for watching!
Would you recommend for gloshift for transmission temp gauge?
More people need to see this I tell everyone about these all my gauges are glow shift never had a problem with them
Thank you! Yeah I would love for more people to see it! I appreciate the kind words!
Good video. Helps people like me decide if I wanted to get those or not. Now I know it's OK. Thanks
Wes, I just installed a narrow band guage like yours and when I first start the engine the pointer is steady around the normal area, then after about 30-40 seconds the pointer goes haywire, up and down constantly. My truck is a 99 Ford F-250 V10. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Unfortunately that is exactly what mine does. It will stay in the "normal" area until my secondary air pump shuts off (silly VW emissions stuff) Then will peg "rich" and wont come back down. I unfortunately do not know how to fix it. Sorry I couldn't be more help ☹
Narrow band operates with 1 volt bias thats why its erratic. A wideband operates on wider 5 volt making it 5 times more accurate and not as bouncy
Chris hit the nail on the head. I honestly do not understand the point of a narrowband gauge. Honestly it’s just a money grab that they make them in the first place. At a one volt spread you either get rich or lean. No need for AFR numbers. A lot of wideband gauges aren’t very stable either depending on the brand so I wouldn’t expect a narrowband gauge to be of any use. If you have enough mods to need to monitor AFR then it is IMPERATIVE that you get a wideband. Can’t tune without a wideband anyway.
Hey Wes. do you still have the GlowShift gauges?
@@travharrell1713 yup! They are still kickin! I drive the car less than I used too but they still come on every time!
@@wesmartin8314 ok. thanks. I am about to put some in my side by side.

Appreciate it haha
Paid $40 for my glowshift black series, used Miata market parts are dirt cheap.
That's awesome!!
Nice Video. My glowshift boost gauge should be here tomorrow. Now Im pumped
Thank you so much! Awesome man, glad I could help!
I have two they are nice however I haven’t found a way or a how to on keeping the color of my gauges. I like light blue I choose this color each time I start my car. How can I set it to stay?
Sorry I never saw this comment! Sounds like you only have the gauge wired up to "ignition power". You also need to wire into a constant power like your battery for example. In your current configuration when you shut the car off the gauge has lost all power and its "memory" of all settings. Double check your wires and make sure you wire your yellow wire is going to a constant
@@wesmartin8314 thank you I will check that I thought I had it wired in correctly using a constant positive like you do for radio installation. Thanks for getting back to me!!
Are good haircuts bad if they're half the price? Lol, just playin.
Lmao hair cuts are hard to find around here
sitting with these gauges in my shopping cart and before I clicked submit for buy...thought I would do one last look on the web. Thanks for the review. Buying them now. If I don't like them I am blaming you! just kidding. Putting them in my Datsun 280zx that is getting an LS 5.3 swap.

Does GlowShift carry a warranty?
Only gas engines pull a vacuum, diesels have no vacuum so when ordering for a diesel get boost only not boost vac combo
That is very interesting, I didn't know that!
very good video martin, these glow shift gauges are for any car? i got a (2004 e55 amg ) just curious thanks.
Thank you! Yes they are universal. The only thing not universal is some accessories and gauge pods! Thanks for watching!
Did you have any issued with the oil pressure sender? I went through a couple before getting a good one, Glowshift were great with their warranty. I've had mine in my Ranger since 2015
I have personally not had any issues with mine. I must have gotten lucky! So dope to hear yours is working for you!

You have a link to this plate you installed in between the oil filter? I was thinking I needed to Tee - tap in to my oil pressure sensor/ sending unit . Also, for trans temp guage "yours is probably a manual" but on an automatic like in my 480hp - 4,900lbs suv id like to monitor the temp of the trans especially when I'm Running it hard or spraying.. do you think it'd be easier to tap into the hot side trans cooler line or do it the "glo shift test port way" along with the longer adapter ? Great video man you really deserve more subs🤙
Thank you! That really means a lot!
Nice bro , does this come with every thing .
For the boost gauge yes, it will come with everything needed to install. For the oil pressure gauge it technically comes with everything to install if you want to tap the sensor into your vehicle. I would highly recommend the sandwich adapter plate which is sold separately
@@wesmartin8314 thank u , will the wide band work for N/A application
@@torvarrisevans7254 yes an air/fuel ratio gauge will work on an N/A engine
A $50 gauge to me is expensive. I’ve seen cheaper gauges than glowshift like $21 and from the reviews the cheaper ones are junk
I believe that glowshift sits at a great area where they are affordable yet reliable but not insanely expensive
I have theme in both of my cars and I love them.
That's awesome!
"theme"
I have the 1.8t in a Passat b5. What adapter plate did you get for the oil pressure? That’s all I need to hook my gauges up, but they have different thread plates.
I did a quick Google search and found that the thread size for most VWs including the 1.8t is 3/4-16. I would still dig into it a little more just to be safe but I will go ahead and provide the link to the adapter in that size. Hope that helped a little!

1.8t mk4? Witch thread sandwich adapter did you use ? Im having a hard time finding a solid answer for thread pitch for the oil filter.

I wonder if they sell a sandwich plate adapter for other companies gauges? I'm likeley gonna stick to Auto meter or AEM.
I unfortunately don't know. I would send them an email to find out!
@@wesmartin8314 gotcha, actually on two videos now I'm sold on the glow shift gauges. The auto meters when I took a look around, looked kinda dated. Even though I know auto meters are well built but the glow shift seem decent, and are less , and they look a lot better. The other channel I watched had a guy that's had em in his VW gulf for 3+ years and he's never had em break yet so I was like, I made up my mind..lol Plus the universal pillar mount is like $12.99...lol
@@wesmartin8314 oh wait that guy with the glow shifts for thee years is you..lol I'm tired , my bad...lol

I think you hit it on the head. For a mild budget set up they do ok. Definitely not the quality of AEM, auto meter, or banks but probably the best budget gauge on the market. I wouldn’t trust it to something as important as AFR or EGT especially on a performance build.
Thank you! I completely agree. Glowshift fills a good spot for a lot of people who need gauges but don't need them for anything insane. Thank you for watching!
Is the wideband ARF gauge better?
Yup! Wideband is always going to be better. The wide band gauge uses its own o2 sensor and reads much more often and more consistently!
Can you wire the oil pressure sensor to the dash too? I am asking that because i also want the beep that the dash does when the oil pressure drops
That is a good question, I am really not sure if that is possible. I would reach out to glowshift directly and see if they have any info for ya. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
@@wesmartin8314 That,or even if its possible to wire the gauge onto the stock oil sensor and let the aftermarket aside, thats would do the same job

I have two, pyro and boost... For one thing, they are not readable in sunlight, and both have been replaced twice. The Boost gauge needle, my second one, is stuck at 8 lbs, but it does work. No way to adjust as far as I can tell to zero it out. This is with the key on, the motor is not running. Not happy, going with another brand.
To each their own, its unfortunate you had a bad gauge. This video was based on my personal experience.

Hey Wes, I wanted to ask, is your Boost gauge pretty accurate?
Hey! From my readings in my wrx the gauge tends to only be 1psi high or low. I concluded this by seeing what my ECU was reading when tuning the car and comparing to my glow shift gauge! Hope that helped
