There are a couple things on the sound... you can reset as you did, also pulling hdmi and plugging back it will trigger the tv to reset its sound functions. But the best thing this year is the A90J doesn't have the mismatched volume on screen when you have a sound bar connected. All previous Sonys with ARC would have a number on the tv that didn't always match the AVR or sound bar. And many times it would be at zero when the AVR still had sound. For years they didn't fix that. Finally it's gone. Samsung and LG had +/- when AVR engaged. Thanks Sony, finally.
Thanks for the tips. I am sure some of thw things can be fixed in the various software updates that we will receive throughout the year. A90J has been amazing in cinema and IMAX mode. I wonder how amazing it is gonna be in 83" when you will get yours. Excited to see your upcoming videos on that!.
I'm hearing sound but I have to turn tv (XR a90j) volume all the way up for me to hear thru my Alexa echo dot🤷🏽♂️..is there another way for me to fix this in the settings?
You are the man! I absolutely love my A80J but just experienced a lack of sound. It’s the only time it’s happened in 2 months of ownership. I did a quick reboot and we’re back in action. Thank-you for posting.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU…for posting this quick how video to reset the sound! I had a cable box which I took off. After returning I realized I hadn’t unpaired the cable company’s remote. Not sure if that was why I lost the sound or not. I also have a sound bar and was thinking I would have to redo the connections. Thank goodness for small miracles as I only had to power down as your video indicates. 👍🏼👍🏼🙏🙏🙏
Great job! My a80j just did this. I was troubleshooting before I found your video. I tried the reset default sound settings first. Switching the audio output to Audio system (I don't have one) and back to TV speakers. Neither of those worked so I pulled my HDMI for my PC and PS2. Then I plugged just the TV HDMI 4k eARC input in for my Cable box. That still didn't work! Next, I went in and found a support section where I could do a firmware upgrade. I had it set to auto update but it's never updated. So, I ran the firmware and low and behold my sound is back! w00t/w00t
So Sony is aware of this issue and yet doing nothing about it but still producing more TVs Over the years allowing the issue to persist. What kind of shitty company is that. Seriously Sony.
I just ran into this issue while watching a movie using my bluetooth headphones. I thought for sure it was the headphones but after powering them off I still had no audio even after shutting the TV off via the remote or the power button on the back of the TV. Only unplugging the TV and plugging it back in worked.
I've been having this problem as well. What I've noticed is it seems to happen when I use my ps5 to turn off the system. My fix is to make sure you use the Sony remote to turn off the TV.

This (unplugging from the wall) worked with my A80J after driving myself insane for about an hour trying to figure out where all sound went. This happened after adjusting some settings on my receiver so I thought it was something related to that though the tv wouldn't output even when set to tv speakers and after unplugging the HDMI. Very frustrating on a $3000 tv.

What I noticed from this is the terrible reflection from the window and room on the tv. I guess this is another dark room oled. Expensive tv to have these kind of reflections during the day.
I get this sometimes when a file from my external HD or PC connection through HDMI causes issues. Simply shutting off and turning the TV back on resolves it. If its like the A1E it replaced holding the power button on the remote also allows you to power off or reboot.
@@MyGadgetsWorld Sorry but Tv’s built in speaker will never sound as good as a proper soundbar... I think soundbar is a worthy investment, they are not even that expensive.
