  • (Not sure why the vid is so bad, uploaded in hd 1.03 gb worth)
    In depth test of a Garrett Ace 350 Metal detector
    Buried coins and targets into simulated controlled soil conditions
    using a point system to compare with other detectors eventually
    The Ace 350 scored a 33 out of 70
    Overall pretty decent turn on and good detector with good separation but does not distinguish bottlecaps well. Awesome pinpoint and ok depth

    though I had some problem with sea water It also ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxa-FNYUOM93a388gi9a4brtSCEVmrHgJH land for finding any things very easily. (thought it would work as normal due to it being water proof within certain parts of the detector), on dry land and sand worked well. My first one, so still have lots to learn

    found a penny at about 13-14'' in sand with my ace 350 and it identified it dead on as well.

    Thanks for the vid . I Just Took A Pioneer 505 Back AND picked up the ace 350 . I was hoping to pick up a eurotek pro or sliver umax but they didn't have either . Hope I made the right choice

    Thank You! I am a beginner. I have been researching detectors online and based upon your review I have just purchased the Garrett Ace 350. I hope I won't hit too many bottle caps here in NYC, lol. Other than that flaw, it seems like a great unit for a beginner at an affordable price for a brand new unit at $275.

    Thank you so much, this was very detailed and I like details. Thanks for doing several sweeps on each object so I have time to see the display and hear the audio. I just got a 350 myself.

    Had seen that. I looks like u have some pretty electronics. Watched the gimbal vid u have and was just eyeballing a phantom quadcopter at the same time not realizing they made these gimbals for stuff like that. I had sold my V3i and explorer II due to kids in the way but kinda getting the bug again so am gonna buy/test then sell to see what's the best bang for the buck. Also ready to take the plunge on a Nikon D7100, had thought about the 7D but need a very high ISO low noise 4 Time lapse stuff

    Jez, 300 dollars is cheap? No dude, 90 dollars is cheap for a metal detector. Nice video though and thank you for your review.

    • @scannerguy1968
      @scannerguy1968  10 років тому +3

      I know actually 300 bucks may not be cheap but dealing with detectors it kinda is. Guess I was meaning bang for the buck. I've had many all the way up to 1800 into a V3i. You get quite a lot for the price on this detector compared to price of more expensive ones. But of course you'll get the results of as much as you spend unless you get lucky hunting.

    Thanks for the honest breakdown! I plan on buying this one friday and it has a nice pinpointer with it. Kinda looking forward to moving up from my cheesy harbor freight. But for a super cheap detector the harbor and frieght kinda blew my mind. Sometimes simple metal detectors are pretty good. Just looking forward to some better disc with the garrette. Will eventually get an AT pro or a minelab equinox 800 but thats later down the road. I love history! Best of luck all! Beeb, beeb!

    In essence; yes.
    I'd really need the schematic of this board, and because of that, I can't really know if a microprocessor or microcontroller is incorporated into the unit.
    Generally speaking, for real time tasks, a microcontroller is used.
    So my guess would be that Garrett haven't radically upgraded their microcontroller, that's why the system is slow and lagging.
    I used to have a fisher F2 and it was notably quicker in than the reviewed Garrett detector.
    I say "used to have," because it broke within the first week of using it.
    So I won't ever recommend that system.
    I thought this video was a great review of the system, you carried it out commendably sir.
    Thank you.

    I find the bell tone extremely annoying & would not purchase this detector because of this. Now if there was a mod to get rid of the bell tone i would purchase the 250 model.

    Hello thanks for the video! But I have a question I need to buy one of this for my daddy as a gift but I can't find it saying how deep it detects the metals would you please tell me?

    • @corblaak8051
      @corblaak8051 10 років тому

      Depends on the frequency the detector is working, the lower it is the deeper it goes, but, best is to buy a detector wich works with several frquencies ot one time so you get all finds deep or close to top, sucsses and a lot of pleasure for your fathe ;-)

    I just saw a really well done video here on UA-cam that compared the Garrett 250 Ace and the 350 Ace. There was very little appreciable difference. Kind of a rip-off from Garrett in my opinion.

    So what is the best metal detector you have, that you have had the most success with?

    • @scannerguy1968

      The Fors Core of late. I use to own the v3i and found a lot with it but had sold it 3 years ago. price wise. the Core.

    for first metal detector should I get AT Gold or ACE 350. I know the At gold is like double the money but I would hate to miss out on pulling stuff out of the ground. Thanks

    • @scannerguy1968
      @scannerguy1968  10 років тому

      Depending on what you are looking for I guess. The AT runs at a higher Freq. for gold. Silver is best to find with a lower freq. machine. If you are looking tp spend more than what the 350 garret is. There are some whites detectors or minelabs that will do better. Used Minelabs as in the Explorer models are awesome for going deep and around 4-500 bucks

    looking at the 350,and the 250 which is worth getting? im a beginner so what are your thought.Also how deep do they detect ?

    • @scannerguy1968
      @scannerguy1968  10 років тому +1

      Go with the 350. It has pinpointing which makes it easier to fine tune the dig when finding a target and also you can program it to look for specific targets. As well as a larger DD coil. I would say these detectors would find a quarter at 7 Inches. Dime maybe 5

      +Joe Guzman A good start is a garrett ace 250. But if you like detecting you'll outgrow it in a month and want better. Get him a bounty hunter JR. He'll like it and won't break the bank.

      scannerguy1968 what would be your opinion between the fisher f44 and the Garrett ace 400?

  • @NWOization
    @NWOization 9 років тому

    Just from a programming point of view, I can tell this detector is very low spec hardware.
    The half hits take ages to register before the alert is free to ping again.

    • @scannerguy1968

    • @TheToontown2001
      @TheToontown2001 9 років тому +1

      Mark Fortunato I would recommend playing around with different sensitivity levels. If it gets really bad to where the sensitivity won't fix it you can always call Garrett about it. They may be able to tell you how to fix the problem or tell you to send it in to the factory. I hope this was helpful. GL & HH!

    Do many metal detectors tend to pickup bottle caps in that fashion?

    • @scannerguy1968
      @scannerguy1968  10 років тому

      Some do. About the only way to tell is to test it. Some do way better than others. Such as the newer Whites V3i. It will give you a specific color on the graph letting you know its a bottle cap.

    I got my garret ace 350 and I put it on coins setting and medium sensitivity and when I go detect it just beeps randomly I even Hel it strait in the air and it did a few beeps and when I think there is something in the ground it says always 8+ inch

    • @scannerguy1968
      @scannerguy1968  8 років тому +1

      Might be a bad coil the way it sounds. Only thing you can do is check connections, batteries. If you can get ahold of another coil to test it would be the best bet. From what you are saying, it should not do that. It will chirp off and on though. Other thing is emi or electrical interference. Go somewhere out away from everything and keep any cell phone off.
