I first discovered Nightwish in the summer of 2015 with this concert video. I have since seen them twice live in concert and have listened to this song countless times over the last 3+ years .... and to this day.... the Floorgasm at the end still gives me goose bumps!
Welcome to the world of Nightwish. Floor is beyond amazing. If you continue your exploration of Nightwish, you'll find she really has quite a versatile voice. She can go from growls to soaring falsetto and even very beautiful operatic. They have harder stuff too like Romanticide, Song of Myself and others. Then they have epic long pieces that change tempo multiple times throughout like The Poet and the Pendulum and The Greatest Show on Earth. Enjoyed the reaction! Hope to see more Nightwish in the future!
I am so glad you liked this song. Nightwish has heavier song than this. You may want to try Romanticide from the same concert Wacken 2013. Actually any song from that concert you can't go wrong with. Hello!! Welcome to the world of Nightwish!! They are a band that probably need some warm up to do if that kind of music is not fully your thing!! But they are a great band and actually this was THE PERFORMANCE that made me a big fan after years and years of just liking them!! I think that everything from this concert will suit you well! It is just Amazing and perhaps you could check "Romanticide" or "Song of myself" next🤔.... But what ever you choose, it'll be great😅 Thanks!! Great reaction👍 I just subscibed, good job🤘😉 Greetings from Finland 🇫🇮
Floor is awesome, and she is by far the best suited singer for Nightwish, just saw them live in november in Nürnberg with Beast in Black (would recommened you to also check this band out! Suggestions: Blind and Frozen, End of the world, Beast in Black) Yeah dutch women really do can sing! For more exemples, try out: Epica (Consign to oblivion - live at Zenith, Edge of the Blade, Universal Death Squad, Unchain Utopia) Anneke van Giersbergen (with Devin Townsend - Supercrush, Addicted, Fallout, or with her band Vuur - "My Champion - Berlin") yet another band from the netherlands i really do enjoy is Ayreon, Arjen Anthony Lucassen is a mastermind and with this project he features many of the most talented musicians(Floor appeares in many tracks) around! (an overall impression would be "The day that the world breaks down", the intro to the newest album) Thanks for your awesome reactions!
Nightwish - Romanticide live at Wacken 2013!! Another band you should check out like Nightwish, that are also Dutch, are called Epica, though they are a little heavier. I would personally recommend: Epica - Consign to Oblivion live at the Zenith Epica - Kingdom of Heaven Live Epica - Unchain Utopia Live
So... you are dutch and you didn't know Floor Jansen ?, well, do you know Simone Simons ?, she's dutch too. She's the vocalist in Epica, maybe the other great Symphonic Metal band with Nightwish. There is a song called Sancta Terra ( live RETROSPECT), where Floor is singing with Simone, that is awesome. YOU SHOULD CHECK THAT OUT !! These two women rule the world of Symphonic Metal IMO.
Hey Eduardo, most people from the Netherlands dont know who Floor is. Which is a shame, i think its because of all the mainstream crap they play on every radio station. But she is THE or atleast ONE OF THE best Dutch singers. Thanks for bringing this forward :-)
You might like between the buried and me, they're my favorite progressive metal band, their song extremophile elite has an in-studio live performance too.
Nightwish is a great band with a lot of songs that range across a number of styles. And as you've just seen and heard, Floor Jansen (the current and hopefully forever singer) is an absolutely amazing singer. Glad you really liked it - there's a lot of really cool symphonic metal out there you should check out. Obviously more Nightwish - their biggest hit is a song called "Nemo", and I'd also recommend "Wish I Had an Angel", "The Poet and the Pendulum", and "The Greatest Show on Earth" as some of my favorites. But I also want to recommend you react to the band Epica, a good starting place being their video for the song "Consign to Oblivion (live at Zenith)". They are another symphonic metal band, but they tend to be quite a bit heavier, with a soprano female lead singer (Simone Simons) but also one of the guys bringing in death metal growls as a counterpoint. (If you continue to listen to more Nightwish, you'll get some very nice clean male vocals countering Floor). That helps lend them a heavier edge than Nightwish and many (most?) other symphonic metal bands. Anyway, recently subscribed, and I'm enjoying your reactions so far!
From the same concert, as others have said, "Romanticide" is a heavier one, and highly recommended. Also an outstanding one to react to would be, again from the same concert "Song of Myself"; also heavier.
Nightiwsh is amazing. Floor is beauty and the beast in one! would you believe that she has even better "floorgasm" ending in Buenos Aires version of this song? I would recommend for you Poet and the Pendulum, Greatest Show On Earth, Romantice, Yours is an empty hope etc or another band Theocracy - The Mirror Of Souls (with lyrics) amazing epic masterpiece
I love Nightwish. Wishmaster is my first album I heard their music, and will always be my favorite. This is also before Floor Jansen has joined the band. If I may make a music reaction idea, I would like to suggest Solstafir. They are an Icelandic Atmospheric Rock/Metal. The sound is beautiful. Since they originate from Iceland, they sing in Icelandic, but that is partially what makes it beautiful. I listened to the Otta album, and Dagmal is my favorite on the album. Thanks. :)
Mana, really glad you liked it ! I was a little bit worried, especially about the quiet middle section, but I thought at least you'd like Floor. Yes, a lot of singers in this subgenres sing more operatic than Floor chooses to do in this song. When the song was first released it was done by their 1st singer. Floor is now the 3rd singer of Nightwish. I also prefer Floor's style to the more operatic of many in this genre. She can sing operatic too .. of course. But she can do some light growling as well. I'm always amazed how our little Dutch country has so many singers of this metal subgenre: Floor Jansen (now Nightwish), Epica (Simone Simons), Within Temptation (Sharon den Adel), The Gathering (Anneke van Giersbergen). Must have something to do with the Dutch rock academies, etc. ? Do you know by any chance ?
I think the fact that dutch people are probably (in average) the best English speakers in Europe (in non-English speaking countries) and speak English with almost no accent (compared to the US accent, not the British or Australian one) help it a lot.
@@bramilan You are assuming songs would be in English ? That obviously doesn't have to be the case. In most cases I can pick out if someone is Dutch, English, Australian or American by their accent in English. It took me seconds to recognize Mana is Dutch when I saw her video. So it's not accent free. I think it might have something to do with English and Dutch have similar ancestry (West Germanic) ? I don't know what I'm trying to say LOL. I'm not so sure language is the reason to become a metal singer.
@autohmae don't forget Dianne van Giersbergen from Xandria , unfortunately she's not in that band anymore but also a great dutch singer . or Aeva Maurelle former Aeverium singer now in Xandria is ALSO Dutch . our little land is big in the music business .
May try heavier Nightwish like Yours is an empty hope. My favorite less heavy but epic 7 days to the wolves. And please try Epica - Unchain utopia or Consign to oblivion (the both live)
If you want to try a band that is more heavy, yet still symphonic metal, try Epica. I'd recommend Epica - The Essence Of Silence (OFFICIAL LIVE VIDEO) It's a good introduction song. It's not their heaviest, so there is still some head room to go higher if you like the music. For building a dramatic arc.
There second singer was Annette...my fav...tarja was the first singer ..floor is the newest I love them all and they are all different ( same songs ) " have fun " PS. Annette is from Sweden ...
everybodys is requesting Romanticide or Song of Myself ...21 minutes epic masterpiece Greatest show on earth or the pendulum live from wembley...if there is a simple NW song do Storytime.
@@meganega123 Yes, and just when listener recovers from one floorgasm, she/he sinks to next one...that is destiny for almost all listeners, can not avoid that and then need to more and more...
Astonishing how beautiful metal can be...Much debate over who the best vocalist is but not enough can be said over how versatile Floor Jansen is.. The band also seems happier than ever. Check out Everdream, Song of myself, Ghost River, The Poet and The Pendulum, Story Time and last Ride of the Day== Wacken 2013 + Tampere( live shows) as well as Poet and Pendulum from Wembley arena... When you're ready- The Greatest Show on Earth is Epic( Tampere) over 20 minutes in length( seems like 7 min)..Welcome to The Nightwish Family and Floorgasms...
Chills indeed. And even knowing the song well, having seen them now play 3 times live, I still cannot prevent them from happening :) Get used to them known as "Floorgasms" :)
The poet and the Pendulum".
Yeah Nightwish are really good! I can recomend Arch Enemy If you want to hear Melodic Death metal with an female singer. AE is one of the pioneers of female growling ☺ i suggest songs like Nemesis, The Eagle flies alone and Bloodstained Cross 👌
There is much to Nightwish. I thought they went back to 2003, but found today it was 1997. It is now 2019. ~Twenty two years? ~100 songs? Tarja, Annette, and now Floor. Love them all. Do you want to hear/react to something different? KD/A Pop/Stars. 140 million plus views can’t be all wrong. I liked it.
Ha, so if you recognized the instrumental bit after the wind break, that's something those of us from the Old Internet called the Epic Manouver Song and it was the theme to many many ridiculous stunts
I really like symphonic metal, because it is the best genre if you want to experience beauty in metal music. Especially in lyrics and melodies, but also because very talented singers like Floor Jansen here. Sometimes I enjoy more technical and more brutal metal bands also, but I find symphonic metal - refreshing? I would suggest basically any song by Nightwish. Their early stuff is more operatic power / gothic metal, but they are more cinematic and folk oriented these days. Maybe even heavier in some songs? This was epic power ballad, but they have way more heavier songs too. They also have shorter pop oriented songs, but even more longer and epic songs than this :D Check out also Epica, great band too!
I am glad you liked this, its pretty hard not to. I would like to add to the other great information people have commented in that Tuomas is has said he is heavily influenced by movie scores, which is probably why you get a theatrical feel from it. Also please try Ne Obliviscaris - And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope. You won't be disappointed.
Glad you kinda liked this song, I find it to be quite amazing myself. I didn't even know who these people were 6 months or so ago. I generally like waaaaaaay more aggressive music than this..... Slayer, Death, Slipknot etc... , but am stoked I found this rare gem of music called Nightwish. They are genuinely a legit EXPERIENCE to listen to. I have a feeling you would enjoy their song " Bless The Child " a smidge more as it's a little more ' crunchy '. And again from this same show at Wacken. Remember people... They are a BAND not 1 person. Don't get me wrong, Floor is an absolutely amazingly talented & obviously naturally gifted singer, but there are 5 other people in this group that make it sound so wonderful. Hope everyone has a killer day!!
ua-cam.com/video/rBmxbKa0hVo/v-deo.html this is a group called Liv Moon. The guitar player Takayoshi Ohmura is also in another group, Babymetal and they do The Phantom of the Opera as Nightwish did. Also Akane Liv the singer is brutal, Syu Galneryus is guest guitarist on "Alone" by Heart. I saw Heart last year and Akane kills it .. Maybe not for a reaction but your own enjoyment .. And love to see your comments and passion.
If you were impressed by the high, long vocals on this one, you HAVE to do their take on phantom of the opera. There's one live version from the 2005 concert 'end of an era', and it's with their first singer, tarja. She has a full classical training and it really shines in there, but it's also made way heavier than the original. I would say I'm used to her performance in that by now (given I've heard it countless times), but I'm still amazed. Also..... Marco. He's just really damn great in that, too.
you have a great reaction. i m glad you like nightwish . you shoult react to the poet and the pendulum live at wembley. i must say you are very beautiful and your skin is perfect ..i don t know if you use foundation in this video but if you do i would love to know what kind because it looks so natural .
If you haven't reacted to this one yet then check it out: Epica - Sancta Terra (feat Floor Jansen) Live Retrospect show ua-cam.com/video/cx22Yuj2nzg/v-deo.html
Nightwish are simply fantastic. Try some of their earlier stuff too with Tarja Turunen singing; she has a purely operatic style. Errrrm, off top of my head... try Nemo, Sleeping Sun, Dark Chest of Wonder, and I wish I had an Angel. Also try The Islander; it has Marco (the bass player) on lead vocals. For someone similar but different, try EPICA. Sensorium, Cry for the Moon, Illusive Consensus, and The Phantom Agony. Give Pisces by JINJER a listen as well. I think you'll like it, it surprises a lot of people!
welcome to the weird and wonderful world of symphonic metal, home of a lot of opera singers turned into this genre. I've seen comments mention the rest of the dutch ladies, Tarja and Anette but there are plenty more around if you want to do some digging (Sirenia, Xandria spring to mind). David Draiman (Disturbed) and Yannis Papadopoulis (beast in black) are also crazy vocallists for the gentleman side, more hard rock than metal mind you
I've just begun my journey into Nightwish. And I must say, Floor does this song more justice than the original singer Tarja. Don't get me wrong, both are great singers. But the climactic ending she gives this song vocally is amazing! Those emotionally charged high notes she belts out at the end give this song a satisfying ending that the original does not. The original leaves you hanging in a way, the song never goes anywhere. But this version is perfect. I wish we had a studio version of Floor singing this song too.
i watch all reaction videos of this song just to see the floorgasm on their faces!

En Mana......Floor al helemaal ontdekt? Doe je huiswerk hoor. Leuk dat je het zo goed vond. Discover Floor and Simone (Epica) in Sancta Terra.
Floor Jansen. Rock and Metal Mama, and friends with everybody in the Metal scene ! Rock on gurl !
From the same concert, as others have said, "Romanticide" is a heavier one, and highly recommended. Also an outstanding one to react to would be, again from the same concert "Song of Myself"; also heavier.
Subscriber 999. I dig your channel, you go girl!
This is a song you never want to end.
Next song of myself - Nightwish wacken 2013. Its one of their heavier song
Nightiwsh is amazing. Floor is beauty and the beast in one!
would you believe that she has even better "floorgasm" ending in Buenos Aires version of this song?
I would recommend for you Poet and the Pendulum, Greatest Show On Earth, Romantice, Yours is an empty hope etc
or another band
Theocracy - The Mirror Of Souls (with lyrics) amazing epic masterpiece
I agree, the Buenos Aires version is the best. That's the one I would point others to.
Thanks. :)
Meet Ms Floor Jansen on vocals!! She from the Netherlands and the rest of the band is from Finland !! 👍🏻
Dutch,German,English , & Persian all have the same ancestral origin. ;)
@autohmae don't forget Dianne van Giersbergen from Xandria , unfortunately she's not in that band anymore but also a great dutch singer . or Aeva Maurelle former Aeverium singer now in Xandria is ALSO Dutch . our little land is big in the music business .
@@CT1974NL Yes, of course, I've not been following that band so I wasn't sure about their current situation. Thanks for clarifying.
Welcome to the world of nightwish. There longest song is called The Greatest Show on Earth.
She can growl too. And the bassist has an amazing voice as well
May try heavier Nightwish like
Yours is an empty hope. My favorite less heavy but epic 7 days to the wolves.
And please try Epica - Unchain utopia or Consign to oblivion (the both live)
If you want to try a band that is more heavy, yet still symphonic metal, try Epica.
I'd recommend Epica - The Essence Of Silence (OFFICIAL LIVE VIDEO)
It's a good introduction song. It's not their heaviest, so there is still some head room to go higher if you like the music. For building a dramatic arc.
There second singer was Annette...my fav...tarja was the first singer ..floor is the newest
I love them all and they are all different ( same songs ) " have fun "
PS. Annette is from Sweden ...
everybodys is requesting Romanticide or Song of Myself ...21 minutes epic masterpiece Greatest show on earth or the pendulum live from wembley...if there is a simple NW song do Storytime.
3:50 oh, wait for the end, darling
And another victim falls for the Floorgasm
"...new band..." Well i forgive that
Chills indeed. And even knowing the song well, having seen them now play 3 times live, I still cannot prevent them from happening :) Get used to them known as "Floorgasms" :)
The poet and the Pendulum". The poet and the pendulum ua-cam.com/video/gbn9GczYBkw/v-deo.html
Floor's a Metal Goddess............
What is the song playing in the background at the beginning of the video. It sounds good!
best starting songs: Dark Chest of Wonders, Everdream, and Storytime.
They also have shorter pop oriented songs, but even more longer and epic songs than this :D
Check out also Epica, great band too!
Oh, it's really cool band and best their show on my opinion.
For those looking for the Floorgasm, it begins at 10:17 and explodes at 10:34
Glad you kinda liked this song, I find it to be quite amazing myself.
Floor Jansen é outro nivel👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
you have a great reaction. i m glad you like nightwish . you shoult react to the poet and the pendulum live at wembley. i must say you are very beautiful and your skin is perfect ..i don t know if you use foundation in this video but if you do i would love to know what kind because it looks so natural .
Dimmu Borgir - Gateways (live- forces of the northern night)
great song ... greater version!
From 10 videos that I watch, you're at 11 hahahahaha You really have a great musical taste.

what is that you have playing in the background?
Is it just me, or did it feel like she was a commander on the battlefield? :D
The poet and the pendulum
Greatest show on earth . tampere
welcome to the weird and wonderful world of symphonic metal, home of a lot of opera singers turned into this genre. I've seen comments mention the rest of the dutch ladies, Tarja and Anette but there are plenty more around if you want to do some digging (Sirenia, Xandria spring to mind).
David Draiman (Disturbed) and Yannis Papadopoulis (beast in black) are also crazy vocallists for the gentleman side, more hard rock than metal mind you
Welcome to the "Floorgasm". Hehe...but...tbh she just is amazing!!!!
She has a daughter called Freja with theb drummer of Sabaton Hannesd van Dhal
Are you from The Netherlands @MetalMana? Because your pronounciation is good! Most foreign English people pronounce it as Jensen.
Jep!
audience was 83,000!,,,by the way, those heels on her boots put her up to 195 cm!
