Evo ix mr graphite gray was my dream car back when I saw it at Los Angeles International Autoshow showroom back in 2006
Yeah thats an amazing colour and the 9MR would be a great car to own
@@JacksonStrain Sadly not in pristine condition anymore but was able to get an FE EVO X before they sold out.
First time I seen a graphite gray i wanted one. 2012 I got a GG evo ix ssl. I still have it today.

Those little ducts on the evo 9 front bar aren’t fog light holes, they’re ducts to cool the the intercooler piping. Also the recaros have different bolstering so they’re more different than you think. The Aus delivered evo 9 came with Halogens and no fog light option where as the JDM evo 8 has fog lights and HID

They might not be fog light holes but those ducts also commemorate Mitsubishi's rally heritage through their iconic fog lights which are found in the Evo 2-6.
The 9 is more rare, looks better, has Mivec head, better turbo.. that’s essentially the difference.
And the grille of the Evo 9 is a step further from the Oliver Boulay grille which the Evo 8 has, reminiscent of Mitsubishi's design cues in the early 2000s. Looks simpler too.

They actually made more Evo 9 than Evo 8. The RS model is the rarest with only 150 models of each coming to the States

If I had to pick a car it would be the mint stock E8, just looks superb in the colour with solid spoke wheels and being stock is the icing on the cake.
Yeah it will be very desirable in a few years when there's no stock ones left

I personally love the 7 and 9 look over the 8. You can get rid of the mitsubishi badge, add a front lip and CF bonnet to make them look mean. The rounder front of the evo 8 just makes it look a bit shy.

I think the ssl package is going to be the winner of all evo 9 the heaviest but the most creature comfort Evo 9 of all the line up.. And because I own one .lol they are all bad ass little cars man another jdm legend

Hey mate, yeah its a veey tidy car isn't it?
So the 7 has a different front and rear bumper, different bonnet, lights, interior, is a 5 speed manual, weaker engine internals, wheels ect
These are just what I know off the top of my head but if I make a video on it in the future I will research it a bit more

Im a proud jdm 8 MR owner ! Cant really fault the car and dont really see any reason why i would choose the 9 over the 8 , and being an 8mr mine has the blacked out headlights , taillights , alloy roof and fenders, alacantara seats ect
Yeah the 8 MR are definitely an amazing choice and the value in them is going up like crazy, at least here in Australia anyway
@@JacksonStrain thats true man , its insane how much they have gone up just in the last couple of years , mine is stock apart from catback exhaust , cusco coilovers , work wheels and and randomly a genuine voltex front bumper , i plan to keep it stock and original condition , the fact that they are increasing in value is a great thing but when it comes to some parts its a real pain in the arse , ive been looking for a standard 8 front bumper for ages but can't get one anywhere other than a couple of people who want almost 3k without freight and paint 😐

Mate, you did well, got it about 90% correct but you made up for it with variety of the post and that's massive for an evo x owner, if you sent me post to preview i could have filled in the gaps but id have to charge ...let me see ....about a grand consulting fee I'm thinking ;))

Yeah we didn't get the IX MR in Australia unfortunately so would have to import them from Japan
Id say the x fq-400, followed by ix mr
Difference missed is the rear wing. VIII is all carbon including the inner sides which are exposed. The IX is only carbon on the blade with plastic sides. One feature where the 8 is superior to the IX.
Never knew about the rear wiper delete or the roof channels on the IX and MR. Knew they were aluminium but didn’t know about the groove - interesting 👍🏻

I'd say the 9, extra gear being 6 speed (depending on model) seats are less supportive but more comfy
All Evos are GSRs no matter what model! Also, in japan, the MR comes in 5 and 6 speed as well as the RS version.
These small changes makes the evo xi look much better

I truly am looking forward to the evo 11. Xi is where it's at
The 6 speed transmission has about the same range as the 5 speed i.e(imagine the 5 speed transmission with a 6th gear squeezed in between the 5 existing gears). I had thought that initially with the 6 speed, the final gear would be a taller gear than the 5 speed, allowing for 'overdrive/hwy drive/low-rev high speed driving'. It is not the case. I basically change gears more often than the 5 speed transmission. I learnt that the hard way... bought an 8MR (import from Japan has 6 speed) and compared it to 5 speed later.
Oh, by the way, the imports have electric fold in door mirrors. The Aussie delivered ones do not...

Not sure which one is the strongest box out the two but five speed for ease.
The circle fog lights on the 9 makes it Rice guess I'm going with the evo 8 look instead

Most people like the evo 9 more, tbh i like all evo's you cant go wrong with any, but for me the 8 is just beautifull especially the grille of tje evo 8

They definitely went down a fair bit as they were selling for crazy prices during covid

we don't have the GSR/MR in Australia it only comes as one trim.
a difference that don't see many mentioning is the evo 9 MR also has Bilstein shocks from factory.

Yeah very similar, I'd go the 9 for the look as I prefer the rear end but at the price difference between then it does seem crazy

@@lodomir4772 the 8 doesn't have Mivec, It started in the 9 and continued for the 10.
Both the 8 & 9 have thr 4G63 engine but the 9 got a bigger turbo plus mivec.

Who ever did a MIVEC delete? 🤣 Comparing different markets as well as models isnt great tbf. And Evo 9 best for me.
I'd prefer the 8 with 5spd!
I'd definitely prefer having the 6th gear for motorway driving but would be a trade off
Jackson Strain from what i understand, atleast in the us, the 6 speed is weaker then the 5 speed once you start tuning it
@@robje1313 yeah I've heard that too but I wouldn't plan on building an Evo above the sort of power where that becomes an issue. I'd keep mine at the limit of being a fun reliable daily and a fast big power car

i only know in evo 9 is a 4g63 engine
All Evos from 1-9 had the 4g63 then when they were creating the 10 they decided it was time for a new engine so it came with the new 4b11
