Now imagine what it takes not only to compose music and lyrics of this calibre, to fit together in the first place, but also to memorise them to be able to perform an entire concert. The good old times when I use to have absolutely nothing on my mind, just sit & listen to this masterpiece in the afternoon or at night playing games like Diablo I or Diablo II while burning many Marlboro reds, mom just sitting outside in the living room reading books, drinking her coffee and dad is reading his daily newspaper... Gone! They all have left this world, and now I lead a stressful, lonesome life demanded to make money.

Lol.... I grew up on this, was listening to Cradle in the 90's. Though, if I had to list my favorite Cradle albums, It would go in this order..... Midian, Cruelty and the Beast, Nymphetamine, Thornography, Lovecraft and Witch Hearts, then the rest would get thrown in in a random order, as there are songs from each of them worth listening to, but they are scattered. These albums though were amazing from beginning to end.....
Cradle of Filth was the soundtrack of my childhood (I'm 33 now), but also, it also really helped me as a writer. English is my second language but the only language I can creatively write in, and Cradle of Filth really helped me develop my vocab and play with prose in creative ways.
Cruelty and the beast! easily you best record! still can't believe it's 23yr old! i remember queuing outside HMV for this back in the day..literally the only person waiting outside to get into HMV on a rainy Tuesday before college

I was simply awestruck by the sheer power and majesty of this remix, a classic Black Metal album now elevated to a musical masterpiece, rather than a flawed one. Who would have thought this would sound as good as it does now? It would have been so easy to mess with it and play the old 'sound wars' game and overblow the mix, it doesn't get better than this.
Cant remember when this was released..I was young...It left its mark...Im 38 now ...Still listening...the mark is deeper with more age..like a fine wine!!!
These guys were on a whole other level by this point... What musicianship, creativity and execution. 1998 was the peak of their form for me. They owned the european scene at this point.
@Alexandru Munteanu it's a totally different band when the only guy remaining is the one who didn't compose any music. And I'm not underestimating Dani's work. His lyrics are among the most beautiful ever written in metal history.
such a romantically beutifull piece. I hope every one listening, has the courage to always do the right thing no matter how difficult it may be at the moment, and remember guys giving up is the only thing that anihilates the possibility for things to improve to 0%. Hails to cradle of filth from Greece
I always wondered what this album would sound like with a sound that would do justice to such a good job and here it is, congratulations, good job, I've listened to it since I was 17, I'm already 40 and it still doesn't bore me.
Crazy, it's been 10 years since I've heard this song but the second Dani starts singing I started singing along too like I was 18 again and was using this song as a warm up before band practice.
This takes me back to days, when as a young, deeply depressed, stressed, tramatic kid, i would listen to this and midian album on my headphones, while going to sleep. As scary as it sounds, it was taking me to some different world that felt better. I know i sound like that dude from the IT crowd now, but thats how it was ;)

6:19 has anyone noticed how haunted, bleak, deep, duskish is this part? This song is not a mere Symphonic Black Metal sample: it is actually one of the most rich textured dark song ever produced and conceived. Please pay attention to a mournful violin-like sound in low notes, being played at background of this part. It's really dissonant, though gorgeously organic. Disturbed, confusing, but beautiful. His guturals and guitar riffs take the whole thing to be like a gate to the unknown...
Absolutely! This whole slower section starting around 4:53 I've always found really moving on a really primally dark level. It conjures images of a great beast waking and slowly spreading it's domineering wings. Where musically it kicks back in after the section you mentioned at around 6:27, notice how there's a call and response going on between guitar left (playing the first part of the melody and pausing on the held chord), followed then by the keyboards (central) playing the second part of the melody. Guitar right and the bass (central) hold it all together with the chord sequence. If you're ever in a studio with great monitoring or a really good set of headphones it's well worth taking a listen, it's a really well thought out musical score I think🤘
This was my first cof album. A friend bought it and we left the record store i immediately put the disk in my portable cd player. And was hooked. It was the atmospheric sound i was searching for.... he dident get his brand new disk for a week. Then i bought everything cof released to that date. Vempire and dusk being my 2 favorites

I'm 39 now, married with 3 kids. Now my twenty-year marriage is falling apart, and divorce is so close. I've just immigrated to another country, I can't work according to my qualifications now, there're no relatives or friends who can give me any support, and many other troubles are in my life. So I fill confused and disappointed like I was being a rebellious teenager with a plenty of problems. And now like then this music helps me to coop with all difficulties, fill me with energy and a desire to live on.
this song means alot to me as it is my favorite and was my best friends favorite song, since his passing this song brings back all the memories of the good times we had together but alas it also makes me think of the times we will never have, and that i wasn't there for him when he needed me the most rip Cody, man i miss you
You may or may not know that the Actress Ingrid Pitt who played Countess Bathory in the old Hammer Horror Movie 'Countess Dracula' narrated the spoken word parts as the Countess on the album.
This is just one of the most incredible musical pieces ever writen. Goosebumps from the very first until the very last note. Nothing in their (huge and amazing) discography compares to this album. And this song is it's pinnacle
One of my top 3 favourite albums of all time. This album change my life 21 years ago, and thouhg I love the old production, this sounds amazing. Thanks COF for making such a great album
Cruelty And The Beast was my first ever online purchase. Bought it right then and there with my Spiderman Visa card which I'm still not certain how I had, then not long after IT FUCKING ARRIVED IN THE MAIL FROM ANOTHER CONTINENT man, I'm not even kidding!! I've got so many great memories from this album..
"A whirlwind of fire that swept through the briers Of sweet rose Her thickets of black thorn had graaaaaaaaaaasped..." FUUUUCK that part allways gives me goosebumps!
This remix is simply amazing, no longer do we have the thin production and the shitty drum sound, or a bloated 'sound war' production, oh no, this has been remastered to perfection. An example of a masterpiece sounding better than I thought possible.
@@blastwave_ I listened to the album again, and for me The Bathory Aria for example- holy fuck man, it sounds amazing. I've always loved this album, but for me, I was soooo disappointed by the shitty sound I must confess I never played it as much as other Cradle releases, which is a damned shame considering the sheer number of fantastic songs on it. All that shits changed now! I'm gonna play the cunt to death now.
The drums sound way better now and the treble between the guitar and vocals feels more distinguishable. The bass is less upfront and instead melds with the guitar in this version (not a good or bad thing, just preference.) Overall this is a great remaster but I’ve noticed some changes. Listen to the original version at 1:30 and there’s this cool sample of thunder that really makes the transition more impactful in my opinion. Also on the following vocals when Danny is saying “Benighted,” the accompanying female vocals are way more apparent in the original. Just a bunch of tiny changes, but yeah as a whole this remaster is fucking great.

𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗜. 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗟𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗨𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗿. 0:00
Snuffed tapers sighed
As Death left impressing
His crest of cold tears on the Countess
Benighted like ill-fated Usher
The House of Bathory shrouded
'Neath grief's dark facade
If only I could have wept
In mourning by Her side
I would have clasped Her so tight
Like storm-beached Aphrodite
Drowned on Kytherean tides
And Kissed Her
For from Her alone
My lips would have known
Enigmas of shadowy vistas
Where pleasures took flesh
And pain, remorseless
Came freezing the breath
Of raucous life hushed unto whispers
Benighted
Inhaling the pale waning moonlight that crept
Through the crypt of Her Lord who so lucidly slept
Benighted
Exhaling the wail of black widowhood's toll
Waxing eternal night entered Her soul.
𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗜𝗜. 𝗔 𝗠𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗙𝘂𝗴𝘂𝗲 2:00
Now haranguing grey skies
With revenge upon life
Gnathic and Sapphic
Needs begged gendercide
Delusions of Grandier denounced the revolt
Of descrying cursed glass, disenchanted in vaults
Encircled by glyphs midst Her sin-sistered cult
With hangman's abandon She plied spiritworlds
To Archangels in bondage
From light to night hurled
Cast down to the earth where torment would unfurl.......
But soon
Her tarot proved
Hybrid rumours spread like tumours
Would accrue
And blight Her stars
However scarred
To better bitter truths
Of cold bloodbaths
As bodies rose
In rigid droves
To haunt Her from their
Shallow burials imposed
When wolves exhumed
Their carthen wombs
Where heavy frosts had laboured long
To bare their wounds
To the depths of Her soul they pursued
Wielding their poison they flew
Like a murder of ravens in fugue
And knowing their raptures
Would shatter Her dreams
She clawed blackened books for damnation's reprieve
Baneful cawed canons on amassed enemies
So Hallow's Eve
As She received
Like Bellona to the ball
Those enemies
Fell-sisters heaved
Her torturies
Cross stained flagstones
To Her carriage reined to flee
But She knew She must brave the night through
Though fear crept a deathshead o'er the moon
Like a murder of ravens in Fugue
For each masked, jewelled gaze held dread purpose
Horror froze painted eyes to cold stares
And even Her dance
In the vast mirrors cast
Looked the ill of Her future
If fate feasted there....
𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗜𝗜𝗜. 𝗘𝘆𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 5:38
In an age crucified by the nails of faith
When rank scarecrows of christ blighted lands
An aloof Countess born an obsidian wraith
Dared the abyss knowing well She was damned
Her life whispered grief like a funeral march
Twisted and yearning, obsessed an entranced
With those succumbing to cruelty
Crushed 'neath the gait of Her dance
A whirlwind of fire that swept through the briers
Of sweet rose Her thickets of black thorn had grasped...
She demanded the Heavens and forever to glean
The elixir of Youth from the pure
Whilst Her lesbian fantasies
Reamed to extremes
O'er decades unleashed
Came for blood's silken cure
But Her reign ended swiftly
For Dark Gods dreamt too deep
To heed Her pleas
When Her gaolers were assailed
With condemnations from a priest
Who'd stammered rites
In the dead of night
For maidens staining winding sheets
And She postured proud
When Her crimes were trowelled
And jezebelled to peasant lips
Though She smelt the fires
That licked limbs higher
To the tortured cunts of accomplices
So ends this twisted fable's worth
And though spared the pyre's bite
By dint of nobled bloodlined birth
Her sins (crimes) garnered Her no respite
Forever severed from the thrill of coming night
Where slow Death alone could grant Her flight
"The Spirits have all but fled judgement
I rot, alone, insane
Where the forest whispers puce laments for me
From amidst the pine and wreathed wolfsbane
Beyond these walls, wherein condemned
To the gloom of an austere tomb
I pace with feral madness sent
Through the pale beams of a guiltless moon
Who, bereft of necrologies, thus
Commands creation over the earth
Whilst I resign my lips to death
A slow cold kiss that chides rebirth
Though one last wish is bequathed by fate
My beauty shalt wilt, unseen
Save for twin black eyes that shalt come to take
My soul to peace or Hell for company"
(To peace or hell for company)
My soul to Hell for company.

Midian, Cruelty and the Beast, Nymphetamine, Thornography, Lovecraft and Witch Hearts, then the rest would get thrown in in a random order, as there are songs from each of them worth listening to, but they are scattered. These albums though were amazing from beginning to end.....
@@gavindarkglider8547 I was born in the 90's so yeuh.......

Это эпичная музыка не для всех,это для нас, детей ночи,она даёт нам силы и энергию. ;-)
I remember the first time I heard Cradle of Filth. I was 16yo,the song was from the album Midian. Instant love. I was trembling. I felt ecstasy and divine power from the song. I have met my God.
Midian is my absolute favorite
I have listened to tones of music of all kinds and I strongly believe Cradle of Filth have the best lyrics ever, especially this album and Dusk and Her Embrace. Epic!!
What's your most favourite song ? Suggest some of your favourites 🥰
@@hpsagor8336 the track ‘Dusk and her Embrace’, ‘Cruelty Brought Thee Orchids’, ‘The twisted nails of faith’ from those two albums are my favourite (and this track). ‘Summer dying fast’ from Principle as well.
@@draconianTL aww thanks brother...is there any more give me list ...i love to listen different types of musics...pls 🥺♥️🙏 and thanks really for your kind response 🥺🙏
I recommend Sabbat. CoF is well inspired by them.
I hadn't bought an actual CD and sat down listening to an album from beginning to end in a very long time.I did it today with Cruelty re-mistressed and I almost had tears in my eyes. The effort payed off! Justice has been made to this amazing album.
bought the cd when came out.and i was angry about the production, specially the drum sound,i just couldnt believe what they have done in such un amazing album
@@thodoris3790 the drums are improved?? I just feel some of the atmospheric keys have been buried a bit. The choice of lustmord and wargasm 1 instead of II was poor...
@@metalsmithnick8714 definetaly the drum sound is improved.i am listenig with earphones right now.i havent heard it in speakers yet.yes i think you are right about the keyboards
Is it out already and is the whole album remastered or just a few songs??
this album is a work of art
Through the decades and centuries - masterpiece. Gave me a lot of nostalgia. Still listening and will be until the final blinks of my eyes.
Same here my final days I will be listening to cradle ❤
Dani Filth makes our dark hearts beat 🖤
Cant remember when this was released..I was young...It left its mark...Im 38 now ...Still listening...the mark is deeper with more age..like a fine wine!!!
Dam when i was 16 i listened this band all the time ,ow sweet memories :)
@Alexandru Munteanu asa e!
;)
Same, though I was still a preteen. Not flexing was just younger 😂🤣
This popped on my Pandora and I can remember slamming this pulling into the school parking lot
14 at the time, but damn
That intro always touched my soul...
These guys were on a whole other level by this point... What musicianship, creativity and execution. 1998 was the peak of their form for me. They owned the european scene at this point.
and they know it,that's why they remastered it and started the 20 years tour...
@Alexandru Munteanu it's a totally different band when the only guy remaining is the one who didn't compose any music. And I'm not underestimating Dani's work. His lyrics are among the most beautiful ever written in metal history.
1996 dusk and her embrace, for me the best album ever.
But this remixe, wow!!! Love it 🖤

such a romantically beutifull piece. I hope every one listening, has the courage to always do the right thing no matter how difficult it may be at the moment, and remember guys giving up is the only thing that anihilates the possibility for things to improve to 0%. Hails to cradle of filth from Greece
This song and Funeral in Carpathia have always been my favorite Cradle tracks - so glad to hear this remastered! Sounds amazing!
Exactly -This song and Funeral in Carpathia !
that female vocal intro...... sticks to my soul forever

This and old Dimmu, man the Grandmasters!

Just close your eyes and drift with this masterpiece.
0:33 ever since I was a kid never ceases to nearly make me break down in tears. So beautiful even 25 years later.
I still think the old versions are my favourite simply because of the raw filthy sound. But this is great too, all the remasters are well done.
It's cool being able to hear new layers in the music. I've heard elements I never knew existed and it felt new again.
I too agree you can hear little ticks and Pops like it's an old vinyl
And of course there could be nothing more original than an original made by the original which would be a trifecta
I'm in love with the intro 🖤
I lost count of how may times i have listened to this record, this is a timeless record that i can listen over and over without getting bored \m/
I know i sound like that dude from the IT crowd now, but thats how it was ;)
Im speechless...this song couldnt get better... THANK YOU CRADLE OF FILTH!
HAIL FRIENDS! HAIL COF! THANK U
This is a great song to listen to if you're struggling with a loved one's death, past or present.
What a fantastic CD this is.
From beginning to end.
Vempire and dusk being my 2 favorites

bought it in cd when came out.and now remastered!!! masterpiece
I love Dani's screeching and vampiric voice going high to lycanthrope growling
I used to do a lot of writing as a younger man, and this album and Midian were used constantly as inspiration. Genius songwriting.
Really, is there any group that compares to Cradle of Filth? Absolutely beautiful.
The drums actually sound like...DRUMS. Dear gawd, what an improvement! I hated the production on the original version, much as I love the album itself, and it finally has received a production that gives it justice for the first time. Definitely must score this one ASAP!
AGREE 1000000%
It's the most beautiful song I've ever heard!
Dani filth truly has an amazing voice. So as a singer he is an idol to me.
Go and make life a game bro ..play it well
this song means alot to me as it is my favorite and was my best friends favorite song, since his passing this song brings back all the memories of the good times we had together but alas it also makes me think of the times we will never have, and that i wasn't there for him when he needed me the most rip Cody, man i miss you

Cradle of Filth's best song.
Amazing song, amazing album. And best intro ever!!!
One of my favourites of all time
You may or may not know that the Actress Ingrid Pitt who played Countess Bathory in the old Hammer Horror Movie 'Countess Dracula' narrated the spoken word parts as the Countess on the album.
Yep, and they dubbed her voice in the film lol, which I never understood, she sounds perfect narrating the spoken word parts on this album. 🤘
Awesome
My fav song of the album
This song took me to heaven forever....☠
But heaven is never forever
It will take me to heaven forever when I go

A modern masterpiece
Cruelty And The Beast was my first ever online purchase. Got online through America Online dialup with the beeping modem and everything, then had my mind blown by a 20 second clip from Cruelty Brought Thee Orchids I found on embryonic Amazon that took 16 minutes to download but CAME THROUGH THE FUCKING PHONE LINES YOU UNDERSTAND. Bought it right then and there with my Spiderman Visa card which I'm still not certain how I had, then not long after IT FUCKING ARRIVED IN THE MAIL FROM ANOTHER CONTINENT man, I'm not even kidding!! I've got so many great memories from this album..
"A whirlwind of fire that swept through the briers
Of sweet rose Her thickets of black thorn had graaaaaaaaaaasped..." FUUUUCK that part allways gives me goosebumps!
He's always been one to write a good metaphor
This remix is simply amazing, no longer do we have the thin production and the shitty drum sound, or a bloated 'sound war' production, oh no, this has been remastered to perfection. An example of a masterpiece sounding better than I thought possible.
The original drums are full of shit. And it was clear back in 1998. Finally, this cool album can be heard with good sound!
@@stephenbleach4668 the drums were sounding horrible. I'm glad they've finally fixed this. mourn for those who never got to hear it
The drums sound way better now and the treble between the guitar and vocals feels more distinguishable.
@@user-ie7lj5cq3f it's possible they might have used some alternate takes as well
God, I could play 7:40 - 11:00 over and over and over again! My absolute favorite part of this song!
