Been playing off and on for 20 years and am a low marker but could never hit draw pitches. Recently focused on the better short swing position and hit the most consistently accurate short shots ever. This is spot on teaching...again!
Spent about six months ruining my golf came trying to fix crossing the line, and I finally got a lesson and the coach said I was on the arc, just that I had a lot of rotation, felt like such an idiot
Great vid and answered a question I had on the backswing , so perfect timing! It’s taken me around 18/24 months to change my swing solely based on your videos and my game has improved dramatically, gone from mid 90s to low 80s and still improving/embedding. Biggest compliment I can give you is I was about to give up golf as it just wasn’t fun anymore as I was playing awful, I’ve now got the love for the game back as I feel so much more comfortable/confident with my swing. Still not perfect but getting there and I remember one of your replies to my messages - if it was easy changing your swing, we would all be playing on the PGA! So true, glad I stuck with it, thank you 👍🍻
THIS IS HUGE! Thank you! I naturally have a very shallow swing with a bowed wrist (pulling shots low and left) and I'm working on getting it more on plane and this is just what I needed!
Great stuff as always. I’m in the second category, works great with the irons, but it’s tough with driver. There isn’t enough time to get the club back to the ball. Some friends have the “1 a” problem and are good with driver, but struggle with their approach play.
@AthleticMotionGolf I've always had this problem in the swing. I can play pretty well with it because yalls videos have honestly been the staple of me hitting the ball great. Yall guys are better than any teacher I've ever worked with. I've learned about the golf swing through guys than anybody else on the internet. But I just can't seem to stop laying off the club
Can you do the video about how the arm and the body work. I have a swing like Fred couple where I start my arm first but the body isn’t coming with it and my arm is too far across my body. thank you!
Thanks for the great workout lads! Solves two problems of feel, how to find the right weight of the club going back around behind me (not pushing or dragging off balance) But also landing in "the slot" at the top! Recenlt I came across the idea of the "right elbow plane" (from dtl instead of going flying elbow or too steep, and I realized my right shoulder socket isn't packed enough, upper arm, not externally rotated enough to get my right elbow crease more facing out, to really get all this to work so, just wondered if you have any thoughts on right elbow plane or any of that? Pete Cowen teaches in his pyramid video about right shoulder packed and elbow crease and I just plain forgot to focus on that enough! Compensation drift a bit... and I do have history of dislocations and a forward posture (that I recently got serious physio to help with! So food for thought for everyone I hope! Thanks for the amazing video!
@@AthleticMotionGolf Thanks brothers! Man ever since I got the right elbow plane, I am less concerned I will need tommy john. I read Hank haney's book 7 essential... bros... how the forearms turn over at a steady pace...? But without the right elbow plane? Some surgeon would be copy and pasting some tendons lol... Love every second of you jokers!
I suffer from a laid off back swing. Hardest thing to ever change. Been a 3 handicap though for about a year. Wonder what I could be if I neutralized it.
Hey guys I’ve been looking through all your old videos and watched just about everything and I’m new and have a really hard time putting it all together especially when I don’t exactly understand some of the terms. It would be awesome if you guys could make a basics golf swing video just focusing on form for back swing and down swing and some good pointers to help with contact. There’s a lot of new golfers it seems and it’s really tempting to click on the click bait title ( HOW TO HIT IT PURE EVERY TIME WITHOUT PRACTICING) and I only watch your guys videos since you guys got the tech!!
@@AthleticMotionGolf I didn't think they were necessarily at odds, but in looking at Shaun's demonstration, as he was positioning himself in this video, it seemed that maybe it might look a little different if it were less than 90? ...Thanks! You guys have definitely increased my effective knowledge of the swing.
@@orthoagnostic3364 gotcha - thanks for the context 👊 It shouldn't have any bearing on this movement. Using Shaun as an example, in real swing, his right arm is low to mid 80's. We probably see 2x to 3x more laid-off swings with overly bend trail arms. Good trail arm width will help with this because it helps with turn. Does that help with your question?
Feel vs. real. I have been flat at the top forever. In attempting to get to neutral, it FEELS like I am crossing the target line by quite a bit. But the video shows I am only a little past neutral, to the target line side.
Yep, making a real change will often FEEL quite dramatic. Those feels will lessen as you get more and more used to the new (which isn't new anymore) movement 🙂
I saw a video of Sean Foley giving a good golfer a lesson, and it all boiled down to a proper position at the top of the backswing (position, width, angle of lead wrist). He said I used to focus on multiple issues with students, but I have learned, even with pros, it's best to focus on one thing. For the student in question, Sean told him, "Even if you were a pro, this might be the only thing we work on for two years."
So if you get in the right spot halfway back, then you're 80% of the way there? Seems half swings are a good way to go for learning a lot of proper mechanics
Im definitely over the line. And my "fix" has been to do a shorter backswing. That seemed to work, which makes sense if I see this. But it's a hack of course, not a fix.
