Just got done watching the video. First time watching Bob Ross paint. And *_wow_*, this is the most calming, relaxed person I've ever known about! We *_need_* more people like this.
God made Bob on the same day he made love he let him live on the earth until god felt sad and he got bob back to feel the joy of life we miss you bob and god bless you.
This was the first painting I ever saw Bob make when I was a kid. I always like to come back to this one because it feels like I'm watching him for the first time again 😁
Can you imagine trying to talk for 29 mins straight, to no one in particular really, while looking at a cameraman wearing a raincoat and trying not to make any stupid comments? Good luck.
I don't need to go to therapy or see a shrink I just need to watch Bob Ross! He is sooo relaxing. I use to watching him since I was a kid! It was one of my favorite shows!
jennieisacookie he served in the military for many years. He was most likely yelled at during basic training, but became the guy that did the yelling later in his career. After he retired from the military, he vowed to never raise his voice ever again, as he hated being the jerk.
I'm a Disney artist. The way he generally does waves is STILL how I paint mine. It's so crazy how simple he broke it down, and yet you can compound infinite complexities on it.
This is the first time in years that I'm watching a episode. It's not a good thing. This is what I watch so that I can try to calm myself when I'm not doing okay, and these last 2 months have been the hardest in my life so far. I lost my Dad to a car accident, then just today I lost the girl I love and wanted to spend my life with to us falling apart due to depression and stress from both of us. I'm scared I'm going to lose her forever to depression and I can't go to another funeral. Bob you help me feel sane when I'm losing everything. You helped me not hurt or hate myself before, I need you to help me again. This show has done so much for me
I like to watch this show after a stressful day at work. Bob Ross's voice is so calm and soothing. I remember watching this show after school sometimes when I was in high school.
He makes it look so easy to do I’m always having problems with clouds but I’m going to watch this over and over until I get it right. Beautiful painting. Now your in heaven above the clouds thanks for being the best teacher 💞
I grew up watching Bob Ross every week back in the early 70s. He is so relaxing to watch, and I love listening him talk and explain what he is doing. Sadly, Bob passed away in July of 1995 of Lymphoma. He was 53 years of age.
I saw this episode when it first aired like all of them on PBS channel 13 in NY, and i always remember what i was eating at the time, it was a ham, cheese and egg sandwich from the Bodega (local corner store called in Spanish) in my neighborhood with an orange juice. Nostalgia kicking in.
I always wondered how such as cute caaalm and positive person could spend their life in the military without going crazy. But then I read that he wasn't like that all his life; he was just so annoyed by the way people in the military shouted at each other that he decided never to raise his voice and yell at anyone ever again should he ever leave the military.
Bob was never a medic in the military. He started out as a medical records technician, and eventually became a Master Sergeant in charge of medical records and logistics at two different US Air Force bases before leaving the military.
"people think you spend so long on these paintings" For someone to create something like this in 30 minutes is absolutely amazing. Bob was one of a kind.
Wasn't he great? My medium is oil painting. I was pretty young when I first caught his shows on PBS. I meticulously painted details etc.. on my paintings. Well, that's good. But Rossi could turn out a nice picture in no time with big brushes, in no time. There's a place for the slower approach, AND this quicker technique. I love his shows. I liked the way he paints evergreen trees, but everything he does has value. I learned new techniques from him.
Did anyone else notice, that he lost a bit his calm, friendly mood, after he spoke about the producer team at 23:10? He suddenly painted differently and just finished the painting in a rush; they didn't even show, how he painted the bushes on the right side. And I wonder, how anyone could yell at Bob Ross!
I'm sure he meant no ill, he mentions a 'clock on the wall' either being an actual timepiece, or a member of staff keeping time, (producer or otherwise). He would have noticed that his sky, clouds, and wave, took 20+ minutes. he still had the beach, plateau, trees and bushes to go, to not only show, but explain technique for, in under 10 minutes. I'd call it maybe the closest I've ever seen Ross to stress, but not bitter or resentful to the team. I'm sure he knew the work and pressure everybody was under, and, being a military man, understands the 'powers that be' must be satisfied.
Because he was running out of time. They’d have to edit something out since the only get so many minutes of air time on TV. All TV sows have to stay within limits, so there’s time for the next show. Bob often had to suddenly rush his painting. They kept a countdown clock within his view, just off camera, so he could pace his paintings. Sometimes he’d get carried away in the joy of painting, and have to rush his endings. We’d all love to watch him paint longer, he’d have finished the trees, done some shrubbery, and probably made sure they all had a little friend:) Bob is (was/is) the world’s teddy bear that everyone wants to hang on to...
This is a lil late but, Bob Ross always painted 3 works of art. 1 before, 1 during, 1 after. The reason is because all were different. He used to select different people to give them to. Watch this ua-cam.com/video/rDs3o1uLEdU/v-deo.html
I have this theory that the reason why Bob always says stuff like "Happy accidents" and "In our little world" and all those super sweet, innocent things is because the stuff he saw in the Air Force was so bad that he had made these little landscapes in his head to get away from it and they would give him joy, and when he would come home he would paint them. Just a thought.
Alex M _____ He worked in hospital admin. Never saw action. Desk jockey. I don't know where people get the idea that he was some sort of snarling Rambo type figure. In Alaska he also worked a second job in a bar. Pretty relaxed posting if they let you work a second job in the military.
