The ugly ass knee length puffer skirt kills me because there is prototype images floating around where Violet is wearing pants in the same material, and it looks infinitely better! It’s like MGA saw her actually look decent for once and had to put a stop to it immediately, they have it out for her

I really liked Violet in this line until they took the pants away. MGA really seems to have some kind of vendetta against her.
@@DefyReality-ll2cg VIolet is simultaneously an author favorite and the one the the staff seem to hate. Her personality is an acquired taste, making her insufferable to many. Yet she is given so much screen time in the show than most of the other characters. She is given underwhelming outfits, while simultaneously getting more dolls than any other character. Its absolutely baffling.
A lot of doll UA-camrs tend to be over the top and very energetic. It definitely feels more geared towards children or a Mr beast style of yt. I'm 30 and I just want someone who is going to sit down and chill and chat with me. I love your presentation for these topics.

@helloill672 it is wild how different lol omg is treated from the other MGA lines. Lol omg could have textured hair and real chains and interesting fabrics, RH got a taste of that but barely, but no other mga lines get treated so well. Not exactly complaining but I do think it's super weird
@@qryptid I suppose since LOL OMGs were the ones who got Fashion Dolls out of the dark ages, they were allowed a bigger budget. Or whoever was in charge of them simply had more say and power then RH and the new Yumi Land dolls.
Between the lip gloss of YummiLand and slime of Rainbow High why does MGA think goo based activities are profitable???

The ball gown + hoodie jacket combo reminds me so much of the 2011 disney-channel-movie fashion. Like the main girl is allowed to be a little feminine but only if she's still very "cool and not like other girls" about it.
I'm not a Monster High gal but I agree, it's great that they collaborated with a drag queen. I think the doll execution came out really well.
PRAYING we get to see more of Barbie lines like dream besties.I think the quality is there but the faces aren't my favourite.I want the glamorous barbie face back.

Exactly my thoughts on the skulltimate secrets :( I know they can be good storage for kids but if you get multiple dolls and don’t want to use them it’s kinda a pain
wish they just had versions that came in cardboard small boxes like Chinese gacha dolls, it's basically the same concept, buy a box get a random doll, the additional plastic is to add to the cost im sure
My goodwill and thf goodwill bins are inundated with those empty containers. They just take up space and kids dont even like it.

@@bluesira the collectors started a hashtag "justice for Alan" campaign on Instagram, and several collectors pointed out that Mattel walked right into the joke of treating Ken as an accessory and not a doll in his own right. Mattel rushed to get a Ryan Gosling sculpt out after collectors howled at the basic Ken sculpt they used. And we're still clamoring for a Dua Lipa mermaid, Michael Cera as Alan, Issa Rae President Barbie, and a Kate McKinnon Weird Barbie. Mattel was not prepared. 😁
Not the surprise toy crap coming back 😭 I really thought we were past that. Also, I wish the energy going into Bratz Babyz repros would be put back into repros of actual Bratz. The only good thing about the Babyz to me is that their earrings can also be used for regular Bratz, and I'm always up for that. Speaking of which, weren't we supposed to get repros of old accessory packs?? I was really looking forward to those but haven't heard anything about them in a while.
Oooo if MGA is reviving Yummiland, might they bring back Novi Stars??? 🤔

19:30 OMG That’s exactly what I thought when I first saw these! It’s like “random little sisters of main characters who were never mentioned to exist till this line” trope is like the ultimate harbinger of a top their play-line doll going into a dark age.
LOL Tweens up to series 5 felt like little art pieces dedicated to different fashion trends and sub cultures. To this day they're the only doll line I ever felt like I wanted to collect to completion (so I guess in a way I'm relieved that they're shifting gears, for the sake of my wallet and shelf space).
When the head swapping dolls came out I decided they definitely weren't for me but didn't see it as a big deal, I still thought they were well designed just that the gimmick meant the outfit had to match with two different heads meant they design had less room to be so specific. But series 6 was an immediate no, and everything after just hasn't been what I personally liked about the line.
Before they felt incredibly complete, the designs were so thought out and executed felt they were best enjoyed as they were made. Other lines I have fun re-styling or making clothes for, but tweens were always so perfect, maybe the clothes were even too specific to mix and match. I think the pivot makes sense for a line aimed at kids, more room to redress and play and make your own worlds with, but I'm still sad about losing what they were.
Still have some dolls from the first few series I'm missing, so I've still got some fun left scoping second hand sites for those guys. I'm personally more of a customiser than a collector, so it was really magical to experience that just absolute love and excitement over a line as they were.
The yummyland revival is one of the biggest doll dissapointments of the year for me. As for the dream besties I'll buy them when/if they give them clothes that are actually interesting to look at.

I feel like everytime I watch a darling doll video I have "did I used to own one of those?????" Moments. This time it was the yummi land dolls
MGA...they're spending too much $ on gimmicks!. Do kids really want this ? I guess if they do & little kids are their target ,fine. But even as a little kid, I would've preferred more detail clothes & rooted hair, instead of slime, lip gloss or inflatable plastic creepy eyed animal 😳. That's just me. I'm bitter & depressed about the loss of great Rainbow High dolls. And I'm going to keep complaining on the videos I watch, so MGA listens. There was a report the other day that said adults surpassed the sales of dolls more than pre schoolers. So....🤷♀️ give us our dolls back ! 🤣 You can make the Littles for little kids. Just give adults/teens the big dolls.
I really like the Barbie Dream Besties. Brooklyn and Malibu are my faves I think. I love Malibu's shirt and gloves with the roses, too bad the bottom half of the outfit doesn't live up to the top. love Renee's face and hair but her outfit is the most boring, I wish she had at least a bracelet or something like that. Overall though I'm really glad to see a Barbie line that feels more akin to lines like Monster High/Bratz/Rainbow High in terms of having various characters with defined personalities/styles and those kinds of proportions.

OOOOOOHHHHH that new Magic Mixies Pixlings Supreme doll is GORGEOUS, I actually gasped so loud when I saw her.
For me, it's not that any other UA-camr I watch is necessarily too energetic--it's that I'm easily overstimulated, and some days just trying to watch content I enjoy any other time is enough to send me into an instant anxiety attack. You're the only person I watch who doesn't hit that panic button for me, so I appreciate you and knowing if I want to watch something, I have a safe space to fall back to
Normally i agree with you on the unnecessary pixling packaging gimmick, but idk i kinda like this one, it looks a little like a door??
Like you could keep it as background/set dressing on your doll shelf, or maybe even put the doll back in it to protect her from dust??
Especially if each is different, with colours and charms to match the doll.

Since i discovered your channel last year youve kinda become a bit of a reference for me on doll stuff, so seeing you liking something i also like makes me feel like maybe in starting to develop a bit of good taste too :)
Hnggh the pixling supreme looks so nice but same with the pixlings, I'd really like to get one of them but I just can't make my peace with the big plastic unboxing thingies that I could neither keep nor throw away without feeling bad. Second hand market it is I suppose

I really like the Barbie Dream Besties. I want to pick up at least one of them, because they're so similar-looking to Ever After High, and might make good bases for adding characters that didn't get dolls or for OCs. Monster High, I like the collaboration with RuPaul, and I like that it's still available, but it was not for me. And having seen the SDCC doll, I'm glad I chose to save money there. The Dragon Queen doll is gorgeous, and I might pick her up if she goes on sale. My wife is freaking out over the new Pixlings - they are her doll, and she got super-excited when we found the bottle that had the deer girl at the local Walmart. RH - I agree, Sunny is the best of that bunch of winter dolls - she actually looks ready for winter. If I pick her up, I will also not be putting the "snow" into the dress. I just bought the slime Amaya, and promptly tossed all the slime making stuff away and de-tinseled her hair. So much prettier. I'm probably weird at this, but I like the Littles. I've seen an unboxing video on YT, and they're cuter there than in the stock photos - they aren't nearly as dead-eyed. Indigo and Magenta are probably the best from the line, and Indigo is on my "will buy if I see her in stores" list.

It kinda seems like Mattel’s steadily increasing in quality while MGA’s tapering off. We’ll have to see what the future has in store, tho
just got my first pixlings doll (faye) last week after hearing you rave about them and shes honestly even cuter in person….her face her style…no notes. i was hesitant bc the unboxing gimmick is really not for me but she’s so cute i’m going to have to get some of the others

I thrift most of my dolls, and let me tell you, the amount of those awful unboxing gimmick capsules/boxes/cases in the toy section... Nobody wants them. Put the little magic shows into some QR code scanning app so we all have less trash to deal with.

Pixlings really should come in two variants, one with an unboxing contraption and one without.
With the pixling bottles... at least the bottles were cute, and you could use them as display pieces or cute storage. But the... thing the big ones come with is just plastic waste

I’m so happy to see silkstones making a return! I’ve always loved them since I was a little girl and recently inherited my mums collection (15 dolls and a wardrobe) and they’re just so beautiful. I’m glad the new release is so reasonably priced so that everyone can get to enjoy them~

I love the Pixlings too and I think it would be great to have a version with simple packaging too, same doll, same everything but just a simple box, maybe a little lower priced.

The new Silkstone BFMC doll was pretty nice. Her quality based on the photos looks on par with the line and the price is surprisingly reasonable. If I liked jewel tone colors, I'd have bought her. I'm anxiously waiting for the next pink or pastel BFMC doll to release.
OMG, yes! I totally agree with you about the fur sleeves. I was surprised they did that again. The other outfits aren't bad for the Dream Besties, but they could have done this quality and style for regular playline Barbies??? I don't know why, but for some reason there's been no investment in playline Barbie AT ALL. They're making Barbie look like a knockoff of herself. The cheap ugly doll a person buys cause they can't afford the nicer MGA or Monster High dolls. Mattel needs to hire someone who's actually passionate about fashion for the playline dolls. They've been pretty bad fashion-wise for several years now.
So true on the pixlings, I got the bottle and it went right in the recycling bin 😭. I don't have space for it, and I'm not creative enough to find any use for it either. can't imagine trying to collect these and ending up with a bunch of bottles you have no use for
I am breaking up with MGA. Rainbow High was the gateway for me and what is currently happening with the line is not the reason I started collecting them. I am also done with Tweens sadly due to the "new" line. I was never a Bratz person but would buy recreations of Bratzillas. Unless a Barbie is from the 80's 90's or early 00's I'm not sure I care anymore. The silkstone is great but I'm saving my money for .... Monster High!

Barbie Sapphire Anniversary--- This doll is so gorgeous, that deep blue color is one of my favorites and I love a monochrome look! I'm so glad the Silkstone Barbies are back, I've always wanted some in my collection, this might be my first if I can afford her!
Barbie Collector Playset--- It's really cute but I don't collect playsets
Barbie Dream Besties--- I really love the face sculpt of these, they remind me of Ever After High! Their fashions could be better but that's true of basically all the playline barbies at this point. Teresa is really pretty though, I like her outfit the most. Barbie is also really cute, I like the highlights in her hair
Yummi Land--- These freak me out, I dunno why but their eyes are so scary. Also not a fan of baby proportion dolls. I feel like little kids will like them though?
LOL Tweens--- Really not a fan of gimmicky dolls, also the outfits look kinda cheap
Bratz Babies--- Controversial I know, but I don't like these, I've never been a fan of babyish dolls and that's the whole point of these
Magic Mixies Pixies Supremes--- HOLY SHIT ARE YOU SEEING THIS???? I'M SCREAMING- I LOVE THE FASHION DOLL PROPORTIONS AND WITH THE FANTASY THEME??? If I don't get one of these for my birthday I WILL throw a fit. She's so cute and glittery and I love her butterfly/stained glass dress SO MUCH. I already know I'm going to have a really hard time opening this tho
Monster High Potions--- ??? Okay speaking of magic mixies *cough* I wouldn't mind getting one as a gift but I'd never seek these out. They're cute but eh
Monster High RuPaul--- I NEEEEEED THIS- this doll has been on my wish list since the first leak of the face sculpt! I love the outfit and THOSE WINGS AND HORNS all of it is so good
Rainbow High Winter Wonderland--- These are actually so ugly. I hate how the outfits are all that puff coat material. These are just so ugly. Please make it stop. Bella isn't as offensive but dear god. Sunny is also okay
Rainbow High Littles- Burn it. Kill it. No stop I don't need a repeat of Monster High G2, I'm traumatized enough from Sandy de Nile i don't need more random little gremlin kids. I'm gonna cry.

I can confirm that all upcoming RH releases will have collector-unfriendly gimmicks to aim towards the 5-8 year crowd (and their moms). MGA didn't use the term gimmick, they said something like 'element of play' but they definitely laid it on the table that they aged them down and think gimmicks is what draws kids to dolls. And it seems they're doing the same to their other lines - tweens and yummiland. My thoughts with the later is they didn't think the original was successful enough to warrent nostalgia reboots there, and are appealing to kids who have no idea (though I think savvier kids will recognize the direct nods to already usd RH designs in them.). The horses mouth also explicitly said 'Bratz (and miniverse, weirdly) are for the adults'. Source: was in a meeting with them at my job, who is a licensed partner.
Oh! The new Pixling doll looks adorable! I do agree though; the huge, bulky plastic packaging has got to go. I’m also really looking forward to the Dream Besties and I have plans for restyles and reroots already 😊
