so happy I found this channel ... I just Invested in a synthesizer but I also love old school hip hop boom bap type beats as well and will most likely end up investing an an MPC soon . SO MANY GENRES TO EXPLORE !
@@RYANMAKESBEATS My friend never gave it back to me after I had him store it. My ex-wife complained about the equipment piled in our apartment living room at the time. I have an AKAI MPC LIVE II, like yours.
I’d just call it part of the gain staging process. A lotta these cats got that signal coming in way too hot. Feel me? Taking advantage of bit rate’s is 💯 part of that process. Always been confused as to why nobody talks about that. Great video man. That beat is dumb hard. Some Guilty Simpson ish circa 08’. ✌️
The compression brought up the room reverb and background noise which is not really good in my opinion. We can also hear the turntable rumble….and finally you can reduce the sample rate just by adding many different plugins that does exactly that.
Nice! I wanted to ask you . What's a good method for getting static out of Records when you sample into the MPC! Does MPC Beats have a plug in! Or can you use a stock plug
Yo brother great content!Im very greatful for sharing your knowledge!!!Much appriciated!!! Could you please explain how to find the tempo of a drumbreak and how to loop it so it matches the sample tempo even when sample is at different Speed...And one more question regarding druha processing how to eq a drumbreak without adding one shots just using a drumbreak but to bring that heavy low end without getting muddy with filtered bass.Thank You kindly! Mad Props Respect from Poland!
Wow, what a dope beat and a sick tutorial. Loving your channel bro. I have two questions if you’d be so kind: 1. Do you know if it is possible to resample on the 2000XL? 2. When you chop up your samples like that, are you just recording 4 bars of the song and then splitting them equally into the 16 pads? I would love to see a detailed video on this. As you have the MPC One where things can be more automated and you have a smoother workflow I sometimes miss some steps of what you do. I am trying to apply your teachings to my XL
I'm not sure of the workflow regarding chops, but to resample any sampler, just have the out L and R into the input L and R. There of course maybe a internal digital workflow to do it, this is just an analoge way
@@MattDiamondMDE I was just about to say that’s a good idea, (in theory it still is), but then I realised that as soon as I go to the record screen on my XL I won’t be able to play the sample. I will have to use my laptop to sample back in (after tracking out). It’s going to be a fairly long workflow but it’s the only way I can think of for the XL.
i tried this a couple times on my mpc 2500 and mpc 1000 but it sounds trash... i sampled from youtube with my iphone does someone know why? maybe because of the low quality on youtube?
Is this not the same as using Air LoFi and adjusting the sample rate and bit size? Or is one way more advantageous? Not being a dick I’m asking because I don’t know. Bless (new sub)
Ryan. I need help with understanding bass. Sometimes when I get done with a beat I find it being the hardest task to add. Sometimes I don't use it & just rely on loud kicks to make the beat hit harder. So My question is what did you use as a bass to put on this beat? Is the bass from the sample? Hopefully this question makes sense.
One shot live bass samples, some saturation/overdrive, and maybe sidechain the bass to the kick. For boom bap you really don't have to do anything super complex, just find the root and play when the kick hits, and then add some fills here and there to keep it interesting.
Just for my understanding, there is no 'sample rate' function in the MPC ONE? I had that in my 1998 Akai S20 sampler, and currently the Polyend Tracker has a bit rate menu, that tels you lower the bitrate for crunchier sound.
Great question! There is no way to adjust the sample rate at which the MPC One records. There are built in plugins that you can use to lower the sample rate after the sample has been recorded, but I find there is a much better result when either recording the sample at a higher speed, or resampling the sample locally. It would be nice if this was added similar to some of the older MPCs. Thank you for watching!!
If i was Barry White's drummer, I'd be suing you right now. Why not sample your own performances and not steal other people's talent? That's the mainstream now though so I kinda get it. I miss the old days. Real music talent is obsolete these days. I love my MPC One but use it as a drum machine and song arranger. I admit I'll probably modernize and do some sample based music too. I'm infected.
Hey Ryan, man this video is packed full of gems. Thank you so much for taking your time and posting this. This is Gold
Man, psyched to hear you were into this. I love what you're doing over on your channel as well. Appreciate you!
You learned from the OGs. I used to have to speed up albums because the sample time was like 12 seconds on the MPC 60 and S950. Well done Kiddo 💯🔥
5:45 man that's a really good method. Thanks for this
great video, definitely will try this
Bro you’ve helped my workflow the most. And I watch everyone
Yes sir, I must say, I like it. Straight forward getting those perfect bars. What a tasty recipe. Thank you for sharing!
I’ve been looking for something like this for years. Great video!!!!!
as a fellow beast i must say u taught me something new with dirtying up the drums..good ish..

Thanks man, appreciate you for tuning in! I just got into synths a couple years ago and it’s super addicting!
Good morning, Ryan. Thank you for the tip. Love your channel. I have learned so much. Blessings!
Thanks David, appreciate you watching!
That was brilliant. I appreciate how you explained everything 💯
Thank you, I glad you enjoyed the video!
I was so right there with you in the moment you found that sample, I was like "YES!" 🤣
Awesome tip! I was just reading about this the other day too
Thanks man, appreciate you!
God damn... The beat slaps. Solid info to. Subbed.
Bro you have the most soothing voice I've ever heard!!
Really appreciate that, thank you for watching!
Can you show how you apply compression please
That's a really nice mashup😮😮😮😊
Very informative. Thanks for the upload.
Dope video bro and the beat at the end is fireee
Thanks man, appreciate you!
love this! I think resampling over and over gets cool results from all angles. The audio tells more of a story the more its been through..............
Yo!!!! dope video fam!!! keep em comming!
Thanks man, appreciate the support!
You put me on man!! Thank you. This video here inspired me.
Thanks bro, glad you liked this one!! Appreciate you!
This went super hard…thanks for sharing!

Cool idea, thanks for sharing!
That beat is 🔥
that is a great method, very cool. funny thing, i have the exact same setup, same turntable and everything lol
I discovered your channel this week and I’m loving all your tricks and tips many thanks 👍🏽🙏🏽🇬🇧
Cool video.
Did the same method on my EMU SP-12 drum machine in the early 90's. But you're appreciated for sharing.
That’s awesome! That was an amazing piece of gear, are you still using it? Appreciate you!

@@defmaster88 eek, shit friend. I've still got mine, nothing sounds as good. Even the new Rossum SP1200
1. sample rate of MPC One is 44.1 khz
2. there are effects and plugins that let you change the sample rates which is much faster!
can you change the sample rate per individual pad?
When ya 1st added the slowed down vocals,…that authentic “stank face”….the body rock….u knew u had it right then
Haha thank you, as soon as I heard the sample I knew I had to add it to the beat! Thanks for watching and supporting!

Onother nice one!

Good job bruh👏🏾👏🏾
what compressor did you add on the break ??😮
me encanto! muy buena data , te ganaste un sub
You are a funky white boy I love it 🔥🔥🔥

Dope technique! 👌

4:43 You're adjusting semi of 'New Sample 2' (45 rpm), not 'New Sample 1' (33 rpm=og). Is that what you really intended?

U give Private online one on one?
When comparing A vs B, you have to make the face when B plays
"I knew you before you had 2k subs"
