This was awesome, thanks Matt! Can I ask how you came up with the beat in the first place? Did you convert some existing breaks to MIDI and analysed them, or do you have a drumming background? This is something I struggle with most when programming beats

I got into finger-drumming many years ago, and that certainly helped, but a lot of my understanding of rhythms in electronic music and music in general has come from critical listening and analysis, which I think is something that's super important when trying to figure out common rhythms for different genres! Maybe in the future I'll do a video on different types of common beats in electronic music. :)
