    So awesome man!! Just one thing coming from a drummer, a paradiddle is a pattern which is played RLRRLRLL. What you're referring to is ghost notes i believe. Love your work mate. Respect from Australia

      AHHHH, See, I do keep mentioning that i'm not a trained musician lol. I will totally take your words for it. I should have fact checked better. Its just what I have always called em. I have heard conflicting explanations on ghost notes. Marley Marl seems to describe them as the bu bums. i.e 16th note accent kicks and snares. I am trying to refer to the little light roll things that are used to riff things up. Sorry Im probably not explaining myself very well.

    • @padlockbeats151

      @@Sispex Yep, gotcha. I think that's just called a roll or a drag. I'm only just getting back into drumming myself. A diddle is played RRLLRRLL, but can also be just played RR or LL, so that's what you're describing. I know exactly what you mean but not 100% on what it's called lol. Anyways, once again I love your work man, videos are always top notch. The bitcrushing to soften the hats was a dope tip, totally makes sense.

    Super cool video. I think bit reduction works because it evokes the feelings of those vintage vinyl breaks being sampled with those old sampling machines, that pioneer producers used back in the day.

    • @Sispex
      @Sispex  4 роки тому +1

      I also think that we are familiar with so many breaks through the ultimate breaks and beats series and they always had this really great 12 bit sound to them. I just think the main objective with bit crushing is to add some distortion and take away from the high levels of detail that can be inherent in virtual drums. Even the vintage ones.

      Addictive drums is newer and although I think that XO appears gimmicky to me (someone who is obsessive about organizing their sample library to maximize efficiency) I own RC20 and think it's the best retro colour/character/texture vst on the market. Addictive trigger is calling my name, and Addictive drums has been calling my name for awhile.
      Also thanksgiving/black Friday is only about a month from now and between then and the new year almost every audio production software developer gives the veterans their rewards for being patient all year, and also the vets get their chance to use the Simpsons nelson reference to point and laugh at the weak willed people who paid full price for what in many cases the vets are paying half that.

    This was a Masterclass! Thanks man! Quick question, when you are using Addictive Drums, do you a stereo version or multi output?

    • @Sispex
      @Sispex  4 роки тому

      To be honest i just use em in stereo. I guess It could be interesting to split out different drum channels, especially if doing more hip hop stuff. Thing is so far I haven't really felt the need as you can process the drums so much inside addictive drums. I suppose if there is one thing that could be a bit better inside ADD2 is the EQ. Might be nice to EQ the drums separately. I just worry that if you start messing about too much with individual elements the drums might not sit together so nicely.

    • @SoundSignals
      @SoundSignals 4 роки тому +1

      @@Sispex I've found that when you use the multi output you do sometimes do lose the vibe a bit, but not sure exactly why, something to do with the routing and the internal fx. I would also like to see better eq inside, it would be great if you could add 3rd party plugins to their channels. I use Acustica Audio plug-ins that use convolution to emulate vintage eqs and desks, they sound amazing!

    Yo Barry. If you had to choose between the Abbey Road Decades collection or a 3 kit starter pack from Addictive Drums2… which set would you choose?
    I’m making breaks too, been eyeing both… which do you think is better (knowing both seem awesome).

    • @Sispex
      @Sispex  3 роки тому

      Huuuummmm, I would probably have to say AD 2 purely because it is so more editable. I would def suggest the jazz set as one of your kits. The thing is you would also have the power to upgrade to more kits one you have made the initial investment. Abbey roads are great but they are harder to totally change the sound of them. And you probably wouldn’t get that much from the 80s one lol. Don’t forget the joy of programming fake breaks like these is you can easily copy the midi and layer other drums, reverbs,textures etc to also switch em up.

    • @TangleWireTube
      @TangleWireTube 3 роки тому

      @@Sispex Yo. Thanks for the reply/advice. I've been leaning in the AD2 direction. Loving it so far (playing with the demo which comes with a limited Fairfax). Thinking about going with the R&B Soul, The Black Oyster (sounds very Motown), and the Modern Jazz Sticks to start.
      * Sidenote: Picked up Molodyne 5 Editor while it was on sale to do some harmony extraction (I'm on FL & Reaper so not able to do it through Ableton). Whooooo hooo hooo it's nice! Pretty accurate.
      **Side, side note... Izotope's RX 8 has a Music Rebalance feature that splits out the Drums, Vocals (legit accapellas!), Bass, and other Instruments with the click of a button. Doing that before harmony extraction is super dope & it would work well for extracting any drum breaks you want too (that way you don't have to find an open break). Ahhh yea!
