That's the GI Joe laser rifle from the cartoons. The original figures from back in the day came with the toy versions of actual weapons. My general hawk came literally with a desert eagle my Roadblock came with an AK m249
I definitely feel you with liking O-Ring better than 5POA, but I grew up with 6 inch and fully articulated 3.75 like Walmart Retro Joes, so I like those and classified a lot better
Don’t get me wrong, I really like those types of figures also. I just think o-ring lends itself better to playability straight out of the box. I never heard of an o-ring style breaking on people because they handled it rough. Even some of those Retro Walmart Joes broke out of the box.
Fantastic review! Unfortunately, you confirmed many of my concerns about these figures. I kind of hate 5 POA and I grew up on Star Wars figures. Maybe it was the fact that I got a Micronauts Space Glider before I got any SW figures that made me appreciate the higher articulation. Don't get me wrong, I loved my Star Wars figs, but very much preferred the articulation on the Micronauts, Metal Men, Buck Rogers and Black Hole figures. A little later, when the first of the small scale GI Joes came out, I was blown away. While O-rings don't grab me by the nostalgia very hard these days, 5 POA does so even less and I am sad to see so much of it in this scale.
It’s baffling that we used to have amazing g.i. Joe figures in the 25th anniversary and movie lines… just for future releases to be downsized to this? 5 PoA only with hideous slit necks?
Snow Job came with a version of Cover Girl's rifle and in the 80s animated series that was effectively the standard issue rifle. Super 7 needs to do a lot better if they want this line to be successful at a 20.00 price point.
Yes that's right. That was the only laser rifle gijoe used in the cartoons. That's why she has that rifle. Go back and watch the cartoons and you will see why super7 does what it does.
My favorites are the Classifieds version. Great detail , lots of accessories and their movements are excellent. Pricey but not too horrible unless you getting a vehicle. Those boys do get expensive.
The Cobra Commander gun that you compared to the original was not meant to be a copy; it is an homage to a weapon that was originally planned for inclusion with the 1982 Cobra Commander figure but was never released. Thanks for the review.
I’m pretty forgiving of the super seven figures as far as the oversimplified designs because they’re supposed to be either from the cartoon or the comic.
The cartoon aspect is something I did not consider in regard to the design. That would explain why CC doesn’t have a spot for his gun on his back. Appreciate the comment.
This is how ReAction figures should have been made from the beginning. The possibility on the original Super 7 figures is less than what 1980's figures had. I do like the detail in the clothing from the 80's figures but I'm alright with that difference. The possibility makes a huge difference and makes me want to buy these now. Will Super 7 make vehicles?
I agree about reissue of the originals. Hasbro is almost doing that with the Transformer Joes. Those are some great figures. I would also like a hooded version sometime.
There's most likely a couple of reasons for the smoothness. 1. Based on the cartoon = simpler designs 2. Computer designed sculpts vs wood/wax carvings done by hand I still love em because they give o-ring characters that never would've been made otherwise if for nothing else.

I can't believe that this Cover Girl is 100 times prettier than the 6" version! The 6" was so ugly that I headswapped a Black Widow in the Grey outfit and put the Cover Girl head on her and made my 10th Evil Black Widow! I was headswapping other Black Widows to make an Evil Black Widow team like in the movie. I even made Asian and Native American ones with MCU Sersi and Dani Moonstar. Unfortunately, I couldn't do a Black one. I had the heads, but the necks and hands didn't work. I have managed to make several Black Female SHIELD Agents though. I bought 10 of the SHIELD and Hydra Agent packs and a couple extra Daisy/Quakes. I've also Fudged Agents Melinda May and Agent Yo Yo. I've also figured out how to Fudge Fitz and Simmons I just need to get the right parts. I've also made Mack.
I own all of the real versions of these figures, so I will definitely not be buying. I don’t care if these are “collectibles” to look at more than toys for playing, these should be a whole lot better. Super7 makes crap and tells you it’s gold. Now if they made more Joe/Cobra pint glasses, I’d buy those.
I'm with You all the way about the O Ring Figures being the Best. In fact, Fortnite, Star Wars, Marvel, Dc & Other 3 3/4 Scale figures should be in O ring format. I can get past the AI looking faces, the weapon swapping & even the o ring belly sink, back out issue. Super 7 has done a Fantastic job. They always make Good Quality Figures. I hope they will do size comparison figures, like Gung Ho/Roadblock/Destro & Dreadnoks with more muscular, wider chest/arms. And Randar, Serpentor & Nemesis Enforcer taller (just short of 4.5 inches). I hope Super 7 will continue the Reaction Plus Format with Their other Licenses and even New ones moving forward.👍🏾
I’ll never understand the desire to buy new figures that look like old figures. I thought the whole point of collecting vintage toys was, the rarity, the difficulty of finding them in good condition, the historical significance and nostalgia. The only thing you get with new versions is a faux nostalgia.
They only look old to some people. I don’t know much about everyone else, but when I buy “old” stuff, I use it. Some of the designs from a couple decades ago still hold up for better for play.

To be fair, the sculpting for Low-light was more detailed then the original 82 figures. Comparing the o-ring BAT would have been better. Original BAT was 86 as was original Low-light.
That is true, but Brian Flynn said these figure would be like ‘85 and ‘86 Joe designs so that’s why I grabbed a random figure from that time. I don’t have an original BAT otherwise I would have used that. Even the original BAT is a bit more detailed than this new one.

I didn't grow up in the 80's and while I was a fan of the cartoony aesthetic of ReAction figures and the 1/18 scale (Macdowin Jazwares Fortnite reviews were what got me into it), the 5POA put me off when they were more expensive than Jazware's and Hasbro's similar offerings. However, these figures were really interesting to me as they had articulation and I never really had any O ring figures before. I just got in my Snake Eyes and Cobra Commander from Target. Some things I noticed right away were the hands, as they are the same material as the rest of the figure I feel afraid they may break if I put the weapons in their hands incorrectly. I also never realized until now how much I took ankle joints for granted. Furthermore, I'm not sure if I like the O Rings themselves. The hip and torso articulation feels kind of gummy and sometimes the parts seem to want to "rubber band" into a different position when I move them. Overall I think they're pretty great, though the Circle Week discount definitely helped my judgement. Though, considering how much actual vintage GI Joe figures can go for nowadays this might not be that bad. I hope they make Vipers and Steel Brigades this way eventually!
Appreciate you checking out the video. I don’t think these are horrible figures, I think they are pretty good. Many of my comparisons were to the original Hasbro figures because of how they have talked about. The o-ring system isn’t bad. The original Hasbro figures o-rings generally work much better than these. These ones might be first wave jitters. As for the hands, I wouldn’t worry too much about much. They should be sturdy as long as not stressed in a way they shouldn’t be. Just don’t try to shove something bigger than should be in them. Ankles, right there with you. There is an art to posing a non ankle rocker figure in action poses.
@@MacDowin I think these figures would have really benefited from stands, they have the holes in the feet for them, though I can probably wrangle up something for that. I really do hope they make more of these, I just hope they improve over time as well.

There are definitely more coming. BBTS has the exclusive Crimson Twins in suits set. There have also been some leaked listings for a Duke and Ramar.
I was excited when was announced then saw product with the cobra Mothership launched and noped out they looked cheap. for new product will just stick with classified. The Figures are almost the same in cost no way going to spend $20 on A reaction+ When I can get Classified For $25 Action Force and other military lines 6 Inch scale for slightly more
@@MacDowin I have all of the complete 82’-86’ figures plus a dozen or so from later years and I am honestly scared to use any figure stands on them due to fear of blowing their heels out. I’ve seen it happen several times with the ARAH figures due to the aging plastic getting brittle. Same goes for putting weapons in their hands for fear of losing a thumb.

It's actually not cool they put her in the first wave. Before any one knew what the first wave was, I publicly stated in several groups that I would buy all the ReAction+ figures that Super7 made if Cover Girl was in wave 1. I actually didn't think that would happen.... now.... I might be broke.
Solid review. It feels like Super7 might have rushed these out, but when you look at the timeline it seems like they had a lot time to get these to market. Did you notice the May2024 date printed on the back of the card? The loose joints, paint chipping, backpack holes, swivel neck, tight o-ring, stiff hands all seem disappointing especially when you have newcomer line like Delta-17 who really did a wonderful job. Hopefully these sell well for the holidays and Super7 learns from their mistakes and improves with future waves. I'm still happy we got them and looking forward to the vehicles and next wave in the Spring. For a character called Cover Girl, who is supposed to be a former model, why does she constantly have one of the ugliest faces of all the G.I. Joe females. Going back to the original figure all the way to classified she looks awful. Yes, she's one of my favorite female characters too. oh, I'd like to think I'm a superstar ;)

The only really good looking figure was from a comic 3-pack that also had Spirit and Hannibal (I think). I did not noticed the May date. I really don’t know about the rushing idea. It could just be first wave jitters. Knowing Super7, not much in the construction will be changed. Other superficial things might. As much as I prefer the ball joint (kung fu neck), the Super7 neck really doesn’t make or break for me. Delta-17 is, well…. You will just have to wait for an upcoming video. Soonish I hope.

The o ring is super tiny. So it’s not right and it seems the back part should have been made a touch deeper then the front part to accommodate the o ring better

The snake eyes should have been make all in black cause it’s the shade of grey or something that just doesn’t look right and the blue boots. lol 😂 once you get one you will see. Super disappointed with the snake eyes and snake eyes is one of my favourites.
Why? It's supposed to be from the Marvel comics and he had that colour scheme in those comics. There's a few panels that have that breakdown _specifically_ with the black hands, too.
I always thought why the toys look so different from the cartoons I felt in love with then went to the store and the figures looked so bad. Have you taken a look at 1982 cobra commander? How can someone get it so wrong?? It doesn't even have the white stripe and no gloves! And that red stripe on the side of the pant? Why? Super7 finally got everything right
Because they were always designed as toys first, the cartoon was the commercial for the toys. Hasbro/Sunbow didn't even get a full season of animation up til 1985.
Change out your o rings Amazon has the right ones. Look up GI Joe o rings 100 in Canada they cost $16 with taxes so might be $10 in the USA the o rings are too tiny. So change them out.
After the video I did change out the o-ring for an older, loose, one. It still acted the same way. Pretty sure it’s the design of the figure. I put the Super7 o-ring in a vintage figure and it was just fine.
Thanks for the video and being a brave soul to admit that you didn't like the original Star Wars action figures. Super 7 does not make quality figures. Playmobil makes a better quality figure than Super 7. You're better off buying the Temu knockoff!
Those Super7 look like disposable figures you'd put on a birthday cake or something, so cheap looking and so little detail. $20? Maybe if they came with the cake. I've seen better detail on LEGO minifigs.

One thing you need to taken in account is that Cobra Commander and Cover Girl are based off the cartoon version. So there going to be alittle generic.

I think they're fantastic because you can repaint them do whatever you want to them.
The Super7 Reaction+ BAT (comic book version) is AMAZING. I agree, that maybe they don't feel quite like ARAH Joes, but they are pretty great!

The o ring is super tiny. So it’s not right and it seems the back part should have been made a touch deeper then the front part to accommodate the o ring better

Why? It's supposed to be from the Marvel comics and he had that colour scheme in those comics. There's a few panels that have that breakdown _specifically_ with the black hands, too.
Cobra commander blends in a lot better in a vintage display than covergirl, still not great though :/
I really like super 7 figures. But why does Cover Girl have blonde hair? It doesn't look like Cover Girl at all to me.
Because this figure is based on the very first 80s G.I. Joe mini series where she had blond hair.

I always thought why the toys look so different from the cartoons I felt in love with then went to the store and the figures looked so bad. Have you taken a look at 1982 cobra commander? How can someone get it so wrong?? It doesn't even have the white stripe and no gloves! And that red stripe on the side of the pant? Why? Super7 finally got everything right
Because they were always designed as toys first, the cartoon was the commercial for the toys. Hasbro/Sunbow didn't even get a full season of animation up til 1985.
Change out your o rings Amazon has the right ones. Look up GI Joe o rings 100 in Canada they cost $16 with taxes so might be $10 in the USA the o rings are too tiny. So change them out.

ReAction+ are about as basic as they come for O-Ring with swivel arms. Delta-17 and Hasbro (1985 and later) are better imo.
He makes for a great hooded cobra commander figure. And you need to change out the o ring in the figures since it is way too small
After the video I did change out the o-ring for an older, loose, one. It still acted the same way. Pretty sure it’s the design of the figure. I put the Super7 o-ring in a vintage figure and it was just fine.
These look like the cheap figures that Tonka and Ertl use to make! Pure expensive garbage.

Thanks for the video and being a brave soul to admit that you didn't like the original Star Wars action figures. Super 7 does not make quality figures. Playmobil makes a better quality figure than Super 7. You're better off buying the Temu knockoff!

Those Super7 look like disposable figures you'd put on a birthday cake or something, so cheap looking and so little detail. $20? Maybe if they came with the cake. I've seen better detail on LEGO minifigs.
