Dave back on the drums is one of the greatest things I'll ever see in life
You know he was the drummer on the first Queens of the Stone Age album right?
@@ryanw6074 dave is everywhere
Amen!
@@ryanw6074 no way I never know that.
Agreed. I’ve always liked better as a drummer than a guitarist or even singer. He is just an amazing drummer.
I love that Krist mentioned how Joan was not inducted, and then the following year she finally was!
Indeed!
Joan Suckksss
It should have happened a LONG time ago. But quite frankly the RRHoF is a complete fucking joke.
Joan kicks ass!!!
flyinglittleducks lo mejor de los 90 gracis hermano por tantorecuerdo yo 43 hoy alos 16 te escuche por pimera ves me soplate los sexos
So glad they had Pat in for this. Always felt like he was a real member of Nirvana.
Yes!! I'm just so happy that Pat is finally getting inducted too as part of the Foo Fighters. Such a solid talent and was just as much a part of the band (and a friend to Kurt) as Dave and Krist.
I heard that they were planning on making him a permanent member.
He was. People say he was "just" a touring guitarist but 99% of being in a band is touring. Pat was 100% a full member of the band and would have played on a record if the band had survived long enough to record another one.
He was
...he IS a real member of Nirvana? What does that mean??
Krist’s bass sends chills down my spine... he’s such an underrated member of the band
Agreed
He was an integral part of Nirvana. I don't think he's underrated.
He’s underrated as a bassist
He is killing it feel 21 again
Everyone remembers Kurt and Dave, but few recognise Krist.
Teen spirit may be the most overplayed Nirvana song but goddamn it stands the test of time.
I hate that song - they should have played Aerozeppelin: much more fitting
Lol such a hipster thing to say, “I HATE teen spirit!! They should’ve played an obscure track from Incesticide!!” Teen spirit is a killer song, it just got played into the fucking ground. All their albums were amazing front to back.
@@Kaylersstareye They played smells like teen spirit due to it being Nirvana's most popular song. Aero zeppelin is a good song but, the majority of people that know Nirvana have never listened to Incesticide so they wouldn't have heard the song.
Yeah but they had to play it... obv
@@Temprah tough shit they wouldn't have heard it. In that regard, they should have played it
I’m glad that they brought out someone like Joan Jett to stand in for Kurt, especially since she’s a woman and Kurt would’ve loved that
Underrated comment.
At least it's not that POS low life Courtney Love
Definitely.
Akseli Svanlöv well he respects women like a lot
Not to mention that Joan Jett is also widely considered the “Godmother of Punk”
I love how whenever Dave gets on the drum kit he just goes crazy. Hair in his face head down arms flying everywhere. Magnificent
I love John Bonham, but Dave can also pound and swing. And louder! Nirvana were so special and rare.
Holy fuck, this performance was absolutely electrifying. Joan's voice is perfect for this song, she has this raucous rough edge and strong energy and she really makes it her own. I think Kurt would have loved this. She definitely does him justice here.
Yes!!!! A Rock Goddess!!
So good to see Dave on those drums!
yes :(
hell yeahhhh
Yea man Dave is still an epic drummer
whos dave? I only see the singer from foo fighters, havent seen dave since Kurt died :/
Dave is drumming he is the singer for Foo Fighters are you joking did I dall for a joke Grohl lead band member is playing guitar up there also from Foo fighter Mr. Smear.
can still feel the fuckin power of daves drumming after all these years. love it!

Why so serious? That poor hi-hat, I feel for it

“Our little group has always been and always will until the end” the line hits me so much harder now that he’s gone
It’s Nothing But Facts!! 🗣️🔥
*MORE THAAAAN A FEEEEEEELING*
Lunachicks covered 'More than a feeling' and sang some lines of 'Smells like' at the end. Give it a listen. (:

That's right baby

honestly, I almost cried when she said it
just hit a little too hard this time.
Our little *tribe* ….
Damn...Dave hits those drums with the same passion from over twenty years ago. The man has to be the best drummer of his generation.
Stoneblazer Jimmy Chamberlin.
Definitely the most underrated
Chad Smith is much better
I would go with Jimmy Chamberlin too and Chad Smith... Alt/grunge rock speaking
@@ramirocaceres5084 2 different types of drummers. If you compare those 2, you know shit about drumming.
25 years later, Kurt you are loved and missed. Your legacy will always live on. Miss you brother.
One of the greatest musicians to have ever graced this planet
It is not possible to miss someone you never met, and knowing the nature of this platform, probably died years before you were even born.
Dave, Krist and Pat all killed it. They played like it was 1991. Those 3 and Kurt have my everlasting respect. Joan Jett was an amazing choice for the lead vocals that night. Kurt would definitely have approved of her version of Smells Like Teen Spirit.
Cobain's ghost added his vocals to this performance in the moments where Joan had to raise her vocals up in the song. @Jeff Machem
I just wish they raised they key or something. The key was clearly way too low for Joan Jett she sounded very underwhelming vocally singing it in Kurt's original key.
@@alonzotanner1226Yes,!!
@@alonzotanner1226yeah just the sound in general it was I mean I can see why producers are so important right on records? ! I mean as much as we all love Dave on drums the sound of the symbols was just kind of overwhelming everything else 😔
Cymbals,
Dave looks so happy to be playing this song again.
Tyler Okun I actually cried to see him on the drums. He is just amazing
Paul Gooney they were tired of it at one point. Not the same as hating it.
They didn't hate the song. They hated the fame of it.
This must be so emotional for everyone I couldn't even imagine
You could tell that dave while drumming seemed to get emotional
It is very emotional for everybody. The people who are on stage were all connected to Kurt somehow. Krist and Kurt had been friends since they were teenagers. Krist seems to be the most affected by Kurt's death because he and Kurt were as close as close could be.
Karissa M I'm emotional and I didn't even know him
yeah they were like blood brothers to the end of time it's self you know what i mean
Ha....Pat played the f###ing guitar solo!! Don't think I've ever seen him do that. I love that guy!
Dave was really meant behind that kit he's a great drummer
We can't imagine how hard it was for Krist and Dave for performing this song without Kurt. Nirvana will live forever !!
Indeed they were thinking abt kurt, i'm sure they believe that kurt was with them
Yes they will. They changed everything.
Seeing Dave behind the drumset again got me like :0
+petrusabelardus55 Chad Channing?
+Andy Nemeth I was going to comment the same thing...
+petrusabelardus55 on bleach it's Chad Channing on Nevermind & In Utero it's Dave Grohl
I got to see him play drums for Cage the Elephant. Their drummer was sick when they opened for Foo Fighters. It was pretty cool to see.
Ikr
Pat Smear is such a good guitarist! Glad to see him there. I know the Hall has a tendency of snubbing “part time” players, but shouldn’t he have been inducted? I’m sure he’ll get his due when the Foos are inducted some day. He’s been around a long time and has played with a lot of great artists.
Pat just got indicated with the Foo Fighters a few days ago! I love Pat but he was only in Nirvana for literally half a year before Kurt died and he didn't appear on any of their studio albums.
Towards the end, I am confident he was one of the reasons 'Nirvana' as a group was able to perform. I think he was one of the big reasons at least. Kurt was in no condition, in some cases, to even be on stage.
@@sje197819781978 According to Dave, having Pat in Nirvana made the last year of the band more fun to be in. You can see it in the interview the band did with Kurt Loder, everybody was relaxed and joking around and laughing with Pat.
I'm glad to see Pat finally getting his due with the HOF and he more than deserves it, but he also never needed it. The man was a punk legend even before Nirvana, and the real ones knew it.
Pat was part of the "InUtero" tour
I really appreciate nthe fact they brought Pat Smear in for this considering that he was their touring guitarist, would have been so easy to get someone else but Krist and Dave clearly have their loyalties and pay if forward, Nirvana forever
Much respect to Dave Grohl. Damn the guy is not only musicly talented but respects those that have gone before, seems like a nice guy too.
Seth Thomas well now you can feel the same to linkin park like we see nirvana now
He's not nicknamed "Good Guy Grohl" for nothing
Dave Grohl is probably one of the top 3 nicest musicians you'll ever know. He's an amazing guy and the nicest guy
I don't think of "a very nice guy" he throwed shit to Metallica and Guns N' Roses
The Gift of Jericho He's buddies with Metallica what are you talking about?? lmao
Axel Rose acted like a prick at one of their gigs they were all playing at so he can fuck off
The bottom line is that Joan Jett has the soul for this. She has so much rock in her veins it's not even funny. And she tours constantly. I've never seen an artist stay on the road for as long as Joan Jett has. She must have played billions of dates. She lives to do this. And even though she is universally respected, she still manages to live a quiet lifestyle. Not a tabloid celebrity at all. I can't help but admire her humility.
Totally. Humble like kurt .. and not only amazing regardless of sex.. but she blows it out of the water..what an inspiration to women.
She use to live by me in Long Beach Ny nice lady
never heard of dylans never-ending-tour? started in 87 and is still going, 32 years later
Joan Jett as an extraordinary talent and person. Very few people I admire but she is one of them. Used to see her play sweaty rock clubs all over the Northeast in the 90's. So fucking intense with her awesome vocals overwhelming your senses you knew you were in the presence of greatness.
Most eloquently stated.
man this is so great, knowing how Joan loved Nirvana and vice versa with Dave, Krist and Kurt and their punk rock roots. Also seeing Jett rocking with Novoselic and Dave absolutely destroying the drum set... And Pat Smear playing live with Joan Jett after her producing the Germs´ GI record... Couldnt possibly pick a better person to do this with. Sure Kurt would be proud ❤🔥🤘
This is probably the one time nirvana enjoyed playing Smells Like Teen Spirit
Never Lied! You Can Tell There Honestly Enjoying Themselves🔥
Pat Smear covering Kurt’s solo for him. 😢
Pat’s a legend
I noticed that too. I fucking love Pat
Pat got hate because Cobain “needed” him on MTV Unplugged. But Kurt was a fan of his from when he played in Germs and he’s proven to be quite a capable guitarist in Foo Fighters so much respect to Pat.
He did it well
Loved the germs but Nirvana was very bland, never understood why he joined up with them.
Joan Jett: so influential, yet so underrated
I was the 100th like!!!!
Who says she’s underrated
@@claudiaortiz5869 shes not exactly underrated but I do think she deserves more recognition
She ROCKED THE HELL OUT OF THIS!!!!
LOVE Joan Jett
Who would dislike this video?? This was heart wrenching and wonderful to watch at the same time. 💔💔💔
Shannon Fields I don’t know who would either, but look on the bright side there is 24,000 likes on this video. Love always overrules hate.
You can really see Dave Grohl put all his passion into this. It's like he's letting out all his pent up anger over Kurt's death on those drums. Overall great guy.
There is a video where he explains that if he was playing a show and there wasn't a PA he would beat the living shit out of those drums so that people would be like holy shit did you see that drummer. You know that when you see a live concert they open with a big song then bring it down so the ending is a 150% full force. With foo fighters play it is 900% from start to finish and that's what I love
He always plays hard. Love him
Definitely you should see when he played ace of spades with Slash and Lemmy
Have you ever seen Dave not give 100%?
Well put. I think Kurt would have loved this.
How am I able to feel such a strong nostalgia if I weren't even alive when Nirvana existed?
cormack_89 me too
cormack_89 I just watched their rock and roll hall of fame induction and then came here... I can't stop crying. I probably wasn't even a sperm in the early 90's.
cormack_89 you’re feeling the collective unconscious of the era. It’s Jungian psychology. Look into it if you’re extremely open minded...
Adam it makes sense. Collective unconscious isn't that far fetched.
Me too. I was born in 1996 but I feel so connected to Nirvana and Kurt, Krist and Dave. It's really weird. I cried the whole time while watching Nirvana being induced to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and I cry from time to time when I come across some of their interviews.
If you were born in the 1970s, then you were a teenager or in your early 20s during the Seattle Grunge Movement and the rise of alternative rock in the 90s. It was a great time to be young an alive. Music spoke for our young-troubles and rebellious ways. Grunge in the early 90s impacted our lives forever and the loss of Kurt Cobain and the fall of the genre hurt us all and this performance reminds us of what was...
When the time came to induct Nirvana into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, there was absolutely no better choice to stand in for Kurt Cobain than Joan Jett. The result was a bit of rock magic.
Damn. That was awesome. Dave on drums again, Krist killin it on bass, Pat Smear having the time of his life, then, ladies and gents Joan Fuckin Jett.
Tassy McCormick total respect to Joan. Agreat choice here
Krist not crist
Perfect choice for Teen Spirit, IMO. Thankfully Joan & The Blackhearts were inducted into the RRHOF the following year (Class of 2015).
Dude, Pat’s always having the time of his life
nirvana AND joan jett? holy SHIT yes
Kurt would have loved this.
The way that guy is smiling the whole time brings me joy. He is so beyond needing to play it cool and so clearly blissed out. That's the place I want music to take me, too.
Even when I watch foo fighters with my mum she always says how he’s so happy, if Dave Grohl is the happiest guy in rock and roll then Pat Smear is the happiest
Imagines of Kurt in the background can really make you tear up a bit. I will always love and be a fan of what was once called grunge.
I wish kurt was still here, imagine him singing this. When she sang " our little group will always be TILL the end" IT MADE ME so sad
I never thought of it like this till now........that lyric was kind of saying "our group will have existed" even after I'm gone. I think there is a lot of evidence that he planned on offing himself years before he ever did. I don't know if he was murdered.........if he was set-up...it just made it look like ......"well he went thru with it like he always preluded too"
xxmelodyxx I don't mean to change the subject..but did you see that shot of Courtney Love in the crowd.. Christ she looks like she died two years before they recorded this
Brisn Doty LOL OMG! She has not aged well. I think it's all the surgery she's done. Can we trade Courtney for Kurt???
Brisn Doty When did they show Courtney?
xxmelxx i mean he hated teen spirit, he'd probably refuse to play it, and play a different song
I ran into Nirvana in 1993............ I was a 14 years old freshmen in Highschool in Denver. Nirvana made me believe I could be anyone & do anything I wanted.. I never cared what I wore, I learn to be to free and I talked & walked free. I became fearless BECAUSE of Nirvana !!
Oh so u just "ran into " them? Where? McDonalds? The fuck?
lol
Sameeee
Kevin doss , same!! So much a part of what made me who I am today. Kurt's death was truly the death of that movement.
Hey I’m from Denver
Simply seeing Krist Novoselic, Pat Smear and Dave Grohl perform on stage together again is amazing.
Aside from Kurt playing this song, she’s the only person to pull it off in my opinion. The hair on my arm stood up!
Joan Jett looks like the singer from Joan Jett
Interesting observation
HAHAH
Both singers look like one of the guitarrists from the Runaways too.
and the other guitar looks like the guy from the Germs..
Oh Don't start again :)
Good to see Pat Smear there too!
John Toscano Exactly what I was thinking! Pat seems to be enjoying himself just like he used to.
John Toscano Pat Smear: The Unsung Nirvana and Foo Fighter member.
He’s everywhere
Smiling, Smiling, smiling as ever
where's Darby?
I still feel that kurt is singing, this is how much powerful the music of nirvana is
I was in college in 1991 when this song came out.
And I was there that night in Brooklyn in 2014.
Chills
RIP Kurt
My god, Joan Jett was the PERFECT choice for this. So damn amazing to see this.
Perfect!
She doesn't sing in the same key, but man it works, especially in the choruses.
That. Strut. Incredible!
She was awesome, and I love that Nirvana chose all women to do the vocals, it made a real statement given how underrepresented in the HOF. Kurt would have loved it, I’m sure.
Joan was (finally) inducted recently.
@@mattm56 Dave and Krist were actually talking about doing a Nirvana tour awhile ago with P.J. Harvey stepping in for Kurt. I am disappointed we never got to see that, P.J. would be a perfect fit

joan jett still rocking. a legend.
At first I wasn't sure about her singing this but by the end she sounded a perfect sub

Dave Grohl is the definition of a drummer who pours his soul into his craft, and enjoys performing it, as much as we enjoy listening to it! God bless Dave Grohl!
Terry Campbell Je once said in an interview that eveytime he plays the drums he plays like it's his last day on earth
Wow this was REALLY cool!
Joan Jett has always been a true fan of rock and roll (if there's such a thing as rock and roll heroes then she's one of them), and here it's also Pat Smear playing live with the woman who produced the Germs album, GI! I love it.
Love the shot of Kurt’s mom rocking out at 2:51!
Although Kirst and Dave have already said they hate this song, they look like they loved playing it here.
Stephanie Rodriguez probably haven’t played it in yeard

@@crtcarroll6523 or because they were playing it in tribute to Kurt.
Musicians like Krist and Dave have a love-hate relationship with songs like Teen Spirit. On one hand, they hate it because its kinda overplayed and in some peoples opinion, overrated, but on the other hand, they hold it dear since its a massive piece of Nirvana and Kurt. Plus its a badass song regardless.
And then there's Pat who never looks unhappy, ever
I can imagine 47 year old Kurt standing there laughing playing the song.
Rainbow Bridge guess we gotta imagine now
Hi Im Seyf it's easy if you try
He would probably laugh...because this is the song the choose to play..
I mean he wrote this song while he was drunk, this song is almost completely nonsense.
There are so much better songs from Nirvana, why this
Lumatrian First of all, he didn't write it while he was drunk. Second, he didn't hate it. He just got sick of everyone leaving concerts if they didn't play Teen Spirit.
Third, it wouldn't make any sense if they DIDN'T play this song. It's their most popular and influential hit, whether your hipster ass likes it or not.
Omar It might make sense because Zep played When the Levee Breaks which is their underrated song…
Wow Joan with Nirvana is amazing. My fav vocals on this next to Kurt
I love the Dave and Joan combination, whenever she's played with Foo Fighters it's been amazing, and Dave playing at her induction was awesome too. She was personally my favourite of the vocalists that performed with Nirvana during this event
