You can tell Kris genuinely misses his friend because he always brings up Kurt as soon as the interview starts. Like he wants you to never forget that he (Kurt) is still part of band even if he's no longer with us!
When Krist explained how he met Kurt in highschool and how their friendship began, it reminds me exactly of how my bestfriend and I met... And we discovered Nirvana together and we are both huge fans !!!
Novoselic once said to someone, "How many Nirvana concerts have you been to? Because I've been to all of them." It's true. He and Cobain were the only two humans to've been to every Nirvana concert. He was in possession of Cobain's fecal matter demo for about a year before he got around to listening to it, but when he did, he loved the song "Spank Thru" and decided he had to form a band with Cobain. When Nirvana decided to start letting themselves get wined and dined by major label representatives, Cobain did very little talking, leading most representatives to assume that Novoselic was the band leader. Anywho great interview, love love love this band! Great to see them back together after such such a long time. RIP KC
I've really come to think a lot of Krist. He is really thoughtful and cool and contributed mightily to Nirvana's sound. You start looking at the band's parts and you start to see it was a grouping of individual genius much like the Beatles and Zep.
"We thought the world was weird" is just depression in disguise. Krist really lost a part of him in Kurt's passing. It's a shame that things ended up going the way it did for Kurt
martythetickler I personally think he's ugly as hell (that face m8), but dayum... he's "handsome ugly". It's a strange, indefinite, kind of attraction I feel towards him. As a straight male, I think I fangirl over Dave because of the sheer badassery, not the looks.

@@thedude4672 Even if it was Krist and Dave's first interview since then, it still wouldn't be a Nirvana interview because Kurt couldn't possibly be there. It's just an interview of 2/3 of the remaining members.

Could not stop thinking that this whole interview. You have two of an iconic band in front of you and you’re making stupid jokes about how your lame high school band played one of Nirvana’s songs... and of course it’s a cover from their unplugged. Wow.
I agree, I do think he was especially flustered because he's talking about a band he's obviously loved his whole life. He's kind of fan girling here lol.
***** Dude u are only as old as you feel. And that is the truth. And most people including me would do anything to see nirvana live. so that said, I am glad for you that you got to see them play live.
I felt the exact same way about Jim Morrison when I was your age. He died 2 years before I was born. Having been around a while, I definitely see that Kurt's status in society today is like Morrison's 20-25 years ago. I fear that in the future young people won't have a Jim or Kurt in their immediate past to relate to.
MTV's Unplugged had great moments: Eric Clapton's 'Tears in Heaven" about his son passing that'll make you tear up, Mariah Carey's "I'll Be There" and my personal favorite Jay-Z's Unplugged. I grew up a hip-hop/R&B head, and during the grunge era. It was odd to me at first. I mean Teen Spirit played over and over again on MTV and could barely make out any words to the song. But when Nirvana did Unplugged, it was hands down the best Unplugged session MTV ever did. I love my hip-hop and Jay-Z's session, but Nirvana set the standard. They didn't play any of their hits, except 'Come As You Are'. They were so raw, yet performed w/ perfection. If you closed your eyes, you couldn't tell if they were singing live or you were listening to their CD. Kurt had some serious pipes and very unique voice. Nirvana was labeled Grunge, but Kurt had a voice that could be country, blues, folk, bluegrass, or soul. Lake of Fire still gives me chills
Why would they lose their front man AND their beards? You think their beards had a lot of royalty money for Love and Frances? So she hired a hit barber to secretly get rid of their beards for royalty and life insurance? Dude... Be real... That shit don't make no sense!!! Their beards already had it rough enough and we're planning on getting the snip at some point... You know how many times Krist fantasized about getting rid of that thing??? Cmon dude, take the tinfoil hat off and come back to reality... It's not Krist's fault his and Dave's beard sneak out to meet the heroin dealer daily, okay? Ggeeezzzz.... What's next? You have a book to sell about how beards going to psyche wards, doing smack, blowing off Billy Corgan aren't as suicidal as the media makes it out to be??? Dude... Get real!!!
Krist was so bright, goofy and charming during those nirvana days and when Kurt died I think that part of him died to. Breaks my heart I can tell he loved him like family. And Dave truly blossomed and is such an amazing man❤Still love these guys.. and “Kurt should be here” he most definitely should.

I really appreciate the fact that the focus of this interview wasn't based on Kurt ' s death and all the conspiracy around it, I mean it's been 20 years already and yes it was a tragic loss and we all wish it didn't happen but cmon dude.
Dave Grohl hasn't aged a day. I swear he looks the same now as he did 10 years ago.
Have you seen the Mtv Unplugged videos ?
He looked so skinny and short.
As someone who's going bald himself, I can sympathize. It does make you look older than you are.
martythetickler I personally think he's ugly as hell (that face m8), but dayum... he's "handsome ugly". It's a strange, indefinite, kind of attraction I feel towards him. As a straight male, I think I fangirl over Dave because of the sheer badassery, not the looks.
***** Yeah... I find him to be handsome, but I also think that by the music industry's standards, he's really ugly.
***** That's exactly what I'm saying. I agree with you, but Dave still seems dang attractive to me (in his current appearance at least). That's what I meant with "handsome ugly".
This is the first Nirvana interview since Kurts death....They both look uncomfortable doing this interview.
No, it isn't.
@@thedude4672 Even if it was Krist and Dave's first interview since then, it still wouldn't be a Nirvana interview because Kurt couldn't possibly be there. It's just an interview of 2/3 of the remaining members.
@@thedude4672 on a television show it is and as them being promoting Nirvana
Legends....
Love how Krist assumes Kurt's gone but gone somewhere else; he's not necessarily dead. Kurt still lives in his head, and I'm so happy for that
he found his friends, they're in his head ;)
Corona Goldenberg yeah, krist even said that he has dreams where he sees Kurt. It's so sad
In every video ever made of these 2, they are always so down to earth and humble. It's not only the music we love but who they are.
jimmy is so bad at expressing himself, its almost remarkable
Victor Bastos I always think it’s cringe
I honestly cannot believe that with all the remarkable talent in the US, this Fallon guy has a prime time talk show. I mean, it is extreme cringe. I only watch these videos sometimes because of the guests.
2:30
'you did SNL, I remember watching you guys on saturday night live just going 'this is amazing' because not only does the record sound great but seeing you guys live is like 'what is going on? Who are these people?''
Lol I see what you mean, what kind of sentence is that
Could not stop thinking that this whole interview.
20 years has gone by so fast.
Yeah, time tends to accelerate as u get older.
Wake me up when September ends ( sorry massive green day fan just had to do that )
Aaron Schmitt my thoughts exactly!
Did you just reference green day in this
Wittlepunkrocker ! no.
Jimmy:so you were in a band-
Krist: oh shit here we go
Krist and Kurt are really people I absolutely love for what they are, look at how Krist is humble!
The empty other seat there breaks my heart
i lost one of my brothers in 2014, and i always feel the same way when good things happen, he should be here.
I was born in 1996, and I literally wish I was older just so I could have shared a time frame with Kurt Cobain.
ScentlessApprentice7 well at least u were alive when kurt was :D
***** Dude u are only as old as you feel. And that is the truth. And most people including me would do anything to see nirvana live. so that said, I am glad for you that you got to see them play live.
Saaaaaame bro...
***** yet here you are trolling nirvana vids, just pathetic
My heart is collapsing
Is anyone tryna imagine krist and dave without the beard?... Lol
Just look at some old Nirvana songs and you are good to go
godson SOANS no ,not really.
I tried and my head hurt so bad trying
Dude... Get real!!!
@@austonsmith536 1:you ok?
2: the barbers called Floyd
RIP Kurt Cobain (February 20, 1967 - April 5, 1994), age 27
You will be remembered as a legend
There is never a dull interview with Dave. Never.
1:07-1:16 Krist wants throw Fisticuffs with Jimmy
hahaha ya he was!
Funny how he puts his hands to rest instantly as he realised Jimmy isn't worth fighting with.
You gotta love Krist. He's so humble and kind
Can’t imagine the goofy drummer of Nirvana now became the leader of Foo Fighters
Congrats to Nirvana, but also R.I.P. to Kurt, and also to Layne Staley from Alice in Chains.
To brilliant artist who changed my life
Layne, kurt and Scott from STP
In live recordings krist is so happy messing around with Kurt and now he’s just sad Kurt’s death hit him hard
20 years the captain is gone.
When MTV actually played real music.
Man I really miss that channel.
Why? You can watch any video any time you want on UA-cam.
@@thedude4672 It's not the same though..
I miss beavis and butthead reviewing music videos 😔
Night flight was better
Krist was so bright, goofy and charming during those nirvana days and when Kurt died I think that part of him died to. Breaks my heart I can tell he loved him like family. And Dave truly blossomed and is such an amazing man❤Still love these guys.. and “Kurt should be here” he most definitely should.
So funny how they both go like "we said yes, duh" at the same time when speaking about Weird Al. Shows that they are good friends.
It's amazing Krist had this brief moment of intense fame in this huge band and it could be 40 years later and you'd still know who he is. So impactive was his presence that he has never had to chase that status of legend. Not many like him anymore. 5 min gobshites instead
