Many years ago in San Diego I was homeless while working full time and I had a Coleman tent that I lived in for over a year. Set it up in the evening, took it back down the next morning so I could go to work. Probably gave it 5 or 6 years worth of use using it every night. Ended up giving it to my son when my situation improved so he could use it for camping. He used it for 2 or 3 years himself. The tent never gave either of us any problem, never leaked, stood up to storms and snow and high winds.
As a female, I always really enjoy your solo trips Susie! I especially liked that it was a solo tent campin, plus a gear review. You are lots of fun to watch.

I think of Coleman products as a safe bet. Decent quality, decent prices, decent ruggedness/durability. If you're looking at 10 brands of the same product, and you don't recognize any of the others, Coleman is probably not going to let you down. Might not impress you, but isn't crap (in my past experiences with limited number of products)
Suzie , maybe next time you can use a one man tent with light weight materials with all products including the backpack thank you much.
I’ve had Coleman back their full warranty a couple times and was really impressed they backed it.
Yeah, we have one of their big Weathermaster tents, and it's the very definition of "good enough."

My dad taught me almost everything I know about hiking and camping. He loved the Coleman brand. He’s passed on now but I have almost all of his old Coleman gear. Tents, stoves, lanterns, etc. all of it is over 40 years old and still works perfectly.
I think "old" Coleman is much different than the products they put out now, but I second your dad Coleman gear relationship. My dad section hiked the AT with a Coleman tent, bag and butane stove.

Thank you for the review! My wife and I have a cheapie $90 Sundome 4 person tent for over 8 years now with countless trips under our belt. I have to say that we are super impressed with it! It has withstood driving rain, crazy winds and very cold temps and keeps on plugging along. Aside from some wear and tear from the fabric rubbing on the tent pole connectors, we have not had any issues with it. It's tough to find fault with it regardless of price. It's fairly small and sets up easily. The carrying case could use quite a bit more space since it's crazy trying to get everything back into it when you're trying to pack up and head to your next spot or back home.
I have had to use our Coleman warranty on a new chair that broke in it's first outing though. I emailed customer support and provided pics and they sent out a new chair free of charge. Nice!!!

I had a pup tent when I was a kid. Heavy canvas. Had a really musty smell but I loved it. My dad would tell my brother to ‘get out of there, you know that’s your sister’s tent’. When I was about 16 I started to really notice the smell. The family tent was also canvas and smelled just as bad. I gave up and started sleeping in the bed of the pick-up. Ah, those were the days. I’m 78 now and can barely get in the camper, let alone crawl into a tent. Love your channel. 🌸😊

I remember the first tent we got from Coleman. It was canvas. This is going back to the early 70s 71,72. And my family had a eight person, Coleman tent. The one thing you never did was touch the walls of the tent. Because, as my mother said the tent, will leak if you touch it. So we never touched the walls of the tent. all my memories of that tent were good. I was seven at the time, so I do not think worrying about it. Leaking was on my mind. But we use that tent for three seasons before we stopped using it I don’t know why we stopped using it. But we moved up to a pop-up camper which was a Coleman.
My memories of that camper were always good. There was five of us and two German shepherds, in the camper slept six. So getting up to use the bathroom at three in the morning was very interesting. We kept that camper for five years. I remember my mother telling me that the fabric had to be cared for which was no trouble just to make sure it never molded or broke down. Because the tent, part of the camper was canvas. We did sell that camper, the year we opened it and found carpenter ants had taken over the interior. They had pulled the water drain plug and filled every open spot in the whole camper. I don’t know if they made any money selling it, but they did have to tell them why we were selling it. At least that’s what my 14-year-old mind remembers.
So to say the least yes I have grown up using Coleman products and always loved camping. If I didn’t live in a condo, I would buy a pop-up camper again, but alas, it would cost more to store it then it would cost to rent a cabin in state parks.

I love my Coleman Dark room skydome 4-person! 5 Minute setup is accurate with experience, also I never guy it out. Mine has never leaked and is awesome. It has great airflow, so I only use it for 3 season camping though. It really is great for a solo camper too. I have a blowup twin mattress, a camping chair and misc. gear stored in it when I go out.
I have a 5-person Coleman tent I bought back in 2014, paid $110 for it and it's never let me down. Haven't gone camping the last 4 years as I was going through cancer treatments. Plan to go next summer since I'm in remission and feel better.

Hi Susie, my friend recently had igniter failure on his ten year old Jetboil. He contacted Jetboil by phone and the nice lady on the phone told him how to fix it and it worked! It involved pulling the igniter probe out and bending it at a certain angle. He was very happy with the Jetboil customer service.
Hi Susie, great review! My wife and I purchased a Coleman Sundome 4person tent and we love it! Last year we got caught in the rain for 8-10hrs straight and no leaks! For the money and budget it’s worth it! And this year we brought our dog that we adopted from the Humane Society and she was quite comfy ! Thanks again for your great review!😊😊😊

I have three Coleman instant ups- 4, 6, and 8 person- the 6 person has withheld Moab winds, torrential downpours, and freezing temperatures. It’s a beast!! The 4 person is my “alone time” tent, the 6 person is our couples tent, and the 8 person is for family. Love ours!

I bought the 4-person Coleman Skydome, with the "Full-Fly Weather Vestibule", and I'm extremely happy with it. The vestibule isn't as large as I thought it would be, but it is big enough for one or two people to sit out of the rain and stay dry. But what I'm most happy with is how dry it stayed. I was out in a couple of heavy storms with it and not a drop of rain made it inside. Very impressive.

As for your jetboil stove, always wanted one, but could not justify the price. That’s because I am still using the $11.97 one I got from Amazon OVER EIGHT Years ago. I do like the cool factor though, after all, I camp in a teardrop year-round. Not a fan of the rain, but cold weather and snow make my heart sing. At 73 my Camping in a tent days have been over for a while. Yes indeed a teardrop is the way to go for me. Keep those videos coming.

My family been using Coleman tents since the 70's sometime early 80s. I used those tents camping out in the backyard with friends in dry and raining days not one of those tents ever leaked or failed and never once did those tents ever been retreated with water proofing. They need to make tents like they did back then and less mesh junk. I want a tent not mesh if I wanted a mesh tent I would put up a mesh screen awning for cook outs. Besides the mesh Coleman still makes good tents. But I got away from the fiberglass pole junk because of winds and snow. So I went and tried out a new tent by gear guide teepee tent and love it. It's roomy with 18' x 18' size. And I bought another one 14' x 14' this one is tan color and the other is dark green I back pack both tents plus I love them both because you can put a stove jack in them for a wood stove in them. I'm sold on them. I still love Coleman but found something little more to what I need as off grid and survival training. Now my friends went and got the guide gear teepee tents lol. Love your videos please keep them coming thank you.

My scouting has a couple of colemans and they have never let me down so far! Easy to set up, quite heavy but rainproof and decent mesh🎉
The tent is pretty cool. But I love that rucksack. And it's the color.
I have a 6 person tent. Which means it has enough room for me, my queen sized double air mattress, and my gear. It’s a Coleman and it’s been a great tent for almost 20 years (and still going strong).
I never hesitate to recommend Coleman products. I've been in a variety of challenging high wind and rain situations with one and it never let me down. I used it so many times it eventually developed holes which is a great thing... used it until it wore out.

My experience with Coleman tents over the last 30 years camping at race tracks, their dome tents are the go to tent. We have experienced micro burst storms, heavy rain, lots of wind, cold, hot, our group will not use anything else.

Think of it like this, that is 1960's/70's hippie camouflage tent fabric, totally far out. Speaking of Coleman and stoves, I used a 1946 Coleman model 530 GI pocket stove last time I went out camping. It's very heavy by modern standards, but it was fun to use. We also lit camp with a Coleman 222A backpacking white gas lantern.
I have 3 Coleman tents which I have used in the UK, our weather is not the most reliable and rain is typically expected even during the summer months. My tents have never leaked and I have every confidence in the quality of the products.
Another fun Suzie adventure. Your channel got me interested in mountain house meals awhile ago. I stocked up on them for an emergency.
Awesome video. Glad your Coleman didn't let you down. Coleman sent me a 4 person cabin tent with a screened in room as a replacement for a recalled (non_tent product). It was big and roomy and the front screen room was awesome. Alas, mine leaked the first time I used it. However, I thought I'd resolved the issue by following Luke's advice on seam sealing it and that indeed did fix the leaking completely. However, on my third trip on an essentially windless week-long trip, one of the poles broke catastrophically. Long story short, I replaced it with a North Face Wawona 6 tent with the large front room and I've never looked back. New rule for Jeff -- no more tents with carbon fibre poles! Aluminum only!

My 20 year old Coleman tent (smaller and simpler than yours) has been through heavy prolonged rain, super strong winds, a few inches of snow and has always kept me dry. It has stayed up while friends’ big name brand tents have crashed. It’s still my favorite car camping tent.

Im glad you did good 'ol Coleman. I had literally just asked about Coleman on one of the recent videos. I've used them my whole life. I don't take them that seriously. But at the same time I have a ton of nostalgia for their products and I still use the heck out of their stoves and a few other things. The main, and kind of more expensive purchase I've made from Coleman recently is some of their cold-weather, old-school style sleeping bags for our RV. I love that we can zip them together and the kids stay warm. I am also using one of the bags in my single-person overland trailer. There is just something about the heft and feel of cotton. If you're not backpacking or sleeping in a tent, I don't know why you would use anything other than cotton.

I’ve been using Coleman products for over 50 years and have never been disappointed. I have a Coleman sleeping bag that is over 40 years old, it has cotton outer layer and flannel inner liner, and NOTHING is as comfortable!! It’s only good to about 35 degrees so I have a 0 degree nylon bag to use as an outer, but that Coleman is always the inner bag. For the price, Coleman is tough to beat!
My husband and I had a four person Coleman tent. It served us well for many many camps and finally wore out. We didn't feel right asking for a replacement. By then we had several big dogs, anyway, and two were elderly so we switched to a travel trailer for their sakes.

Love Solo Susie Adventures! Agree with favorable Coleman product review. VB flowers seemed to reappear at dusk and from angled views. My camping overniters began with my dad’s WWII pup tent. Wooden poles, thin canvas, tie closures and an old shower curtain for a ground cover ok as a kid. Next tent was a Coleman and stuck with them since. Seam sealed and decent ventilation. thanks

Great content. As far as Jetboil I love them. I noticed that your little igniter wire is bent down against the burner. You will never get a spark like that, and most likely the spark is grounding out along the body of the stove under the burner. The quick and easy fix; gently bent the wire up. There is meant to be a gap between the wire and the top of the burner where the fuel is coming out of the burner ports. Kinda like a spark plug. There needs to be a gap. An easy way to ensure you are getting a spark is without the gas canister attached go into a dimly lit room press the igniter and see where the spark is going being careful not to make contact with the wire with bare hands because it will give you a little jolt ⚡️. Electricity alway travels through the path of least resistance. If the insulation on the wire under the burner is exposed from being bent it will spark under the burner and not ignite the fuel. Coleman products have always been quality items. My dad's Coleman sleeping bag from the 70's and my Coleman tent from the 90's during boy scouts are still in good condition. That includes the stoves as well. I respect 🙏 Coleman because like a Zippo lighter. They give you quality at a good price and it's American
But the best part is they don't charge you for quality
Give Colman credit 😤 they at least attempt to fix mistakes and service everybody's needs
I think it has to do with size and price point when it comes to Coleman. For example my first tent was / is (I still have it for emergencies should I need it) the 3 person Sundome. Took it to the White Mountains and it did pretty well in an early fall rain storm. That said. I would suggest a tarp awning for a rain fly if expecting a heavy storm.
mressed wit your coleman tent. i didnot know Coleman had a warranty. We have had Coleman gas lanterns the past, back in the 60’s. the kind with the mantles and the coleman fuel. We have a Coleman stove that uses bottled gas cylinders, it is in a nice little metal suitcase. Still use it for cooking during power outages..it is so old but it still seems new to me. I have had a Coleman Battery lantenr for over 20 yrs, takes D batteries, has a remote switch and a night light. I still works perfectly during power outages.. We. bought a really nic queen size air mattress from Coleman 20 yrs ago, still in good condition, yes Coleman is a great product. Susie, you. should have a heater for your little tent! iI do not like that stove, it looks like it would be too easy to tip over. I lke those little square 1 and 2 burner stoves that Luke has. i really enjoyed your Girl Alone adventure. I hope ou will do more Thank you. !

I am currently on my 3rd season with a Coleman 6 person Instant Cabin tent. So far, so good. Plenty of room for 3 people with cots and gear inside. We stayed dry during an overnight downpour this Spring. Coleman for the most part seems fairly priced and pretty good quality.
I set up a 4-person, green/white Cileman dome tent in my backyard and left it there for three years beside a tarp set up. It was my diversion as I provided home care to my wife (cancer). The tent withstood Virginia's rain, snow, an ice storm and hot summer sun. It finally succumbed and I bought a new version. I love Coleman products. Hmmm! Paisley? At a recent party I sat next to a guy wearing a Paisley shirt. When he talked all I could look at was his shirt and the paisley patterns seem to enlarge through the evening. 😂
Congratulations! You did it! It must hsve felt lit it was 25°F with that rain. Good thing you were well equipped for this! Nothing worse than that bone cold chill that gets harder to shake. The coldest i camped lately was 34°F with a brisk wind, but with no rain. Was able to have a fire. Even that was a 50% warm situation. The fireside warms up but the otherside freezes. I now pack a foam insulated , and covered with warm cloth, sit upon for my chair. It folds up inside my camp chair cover. That really makes a difference to avoid losing core heat. Next time see what you can do to set up a tarp for even more room. It can cut the wind and rain enough to change camera angles without having to get wet every change of angle.
Nothin worse than bad or broken gear in the woods. I’m cold natured as well. Fire maple makes a good stove. You did a great job.
Coleman serves their market well. They are for the casual family car camping occasions

Coleman IS legit. I have several of the products and none of them have failed me yet. I have 2-3 of their tents and they may be old but they’re the bomb! Not once has any one of them ever leaked. Love love love the Skydome - it’s my favorite go-to tent.
I have a love/hate relationship with Coleman. Their tents never let me down, but their headlamps have broken right in the middle of being on an emergency call at night, and the one cooler I got from them didn't keep my water cool all day.

Hey there Susie, I too had a jetboil fail. It needed a bit of maintenance I rubbed the ignitor with same sandpaper, corrected the angle of the ingnitor and cleaned all the holes. It was working as it should until recently, but another problem has appeared. Although I had plenty of gas and the temperature was about 50°F the Jetboil struggled to perform with maximum efficiency it didn't reach its optimum burn and boiling some water took twice as long. I was using regular camping gas so I'm not sure what the problem is.
Being that we are in winter I've turned to an MSR kerosene cooker which out performs the jetboil in cold weather.

I have to agree with the gamble with Coleman. I ordered a 4 person sundome tent that has the poles built into the bathtub floors exterior. No problems at all with it minus the provided carrying bag for it ripped. It was down pouring rain all night in Flagstaff, AZ and it never leaked. Zero condensation in it. Since I had a good experience, I bought one for my parents for a quick overnight camping trip. Their tent did not arrive the same way. The tent poles were not built in like my version. I’m sure manufacturers make multiple versions of their same products and all but their tent had a malfunction on the smaller tent poles for the exterior rainfly so it sagged and didn’t fit. The quality seemed to still be sufficient to do the job even with saggy rain fly. Luckily it didn’t rain. Their Quality Assurance could use some improvement, given your broken tent pole experience as well. Love your solo trips! Way to go getting some flowers & microscopic organisms to liven up the campsite. 😂🏕️ there is a jetboil dupe called fire maple, I haven’t tested them out but it is significantly more affordable.
I was raised on Coleman as well. I will have to say "growing up", I loved Coleman products. I have had our old Coleman camp stove for 40 years, it is a white gas model and it still works! I have had to replace one set of seals and I believe that is it. I still have our old white gas lanterns as well. They still work and retain pressure and I haven't done a thing to them, if memory serves me right.

Sorry it took 50 videos before I subscribed. Will join soon. Love the vibe and education offered! To the point, I dig my 8'x10' Col'man Sky Dome! 4.8 Stars. This big tent kicked azz in 20+ MPH sustained winds during last Dec. test run, with 35 MPH gusts. One pole bent some and she returned standing tall, no breaks!
Did a bug-out in early April, wind, rain, snow test. Rained/snowed the first night(Chloride, Az.), not a single issue!! Rain'n'snow sounds and drifting off to sleep, excellent! The next clear morning was warming, the wee bit of condensation on the fly released 2 mini spurts of spray through the mesh?? Cool!! Non issue...
Super Winds the next few days caused some addition (Fail?) points to address(not leaks). Simple guy line and zip tie repairs, this tent stood strong in anything but a true 4 Season beating. Indeed it is DANG COLD mid Winter with the enormous quality mesh Sky Dome configuration. Cant wait for a Summer trip with the fly gone, and sky open ;~) Take care of yourselves and each other.

Great review! I love when you and Luke share stories of past trips. I think your friend was probably even more impressed when you got the Jetboil going with whatever you used to create the spark! Also I don't blame you for ditching that weird breakfast fruit. You were a trooper for sticking it out as long as you did. I hope you, Luke and family have an awesome Christmas and holidays!
I am 66 years old and I’ve had Coleman products all my life, tents, stoves, lanterns, you name it. I have never I say never had a negative issue with any Coleman product.

I'm really glad the tent passed the leak test. I bought a Skydome at Walmart and haven't had a chance to use it yet.
Jetboil. Mine failed in the same way. The supplier sent a replacement sparker which was simple to change. Sometimes the metal rod needs adjusting to get a spark. So I always carry a backup lighting method. Anyway another enjoyable video from TOGW!
