I love it!! Don't forget there's people out there who like to have more white space. I love your work. And the tutorial videos!! Keep it up. And have a beautiful and blessed day!
Thank you! You're right - white space isn't bad. I'm so glad you're enjoying the videos - thank you for watching, and I hope you have a blessed day too! 🙂
Darn rubber bands always flick dye everywhere! lol Liking that purple, love alll the purples! That looks a lot like one I've done with steel gray and grape powder under ice. I like the black and will do that after next time :)
I love tie dye and learning different techniques to switch up from what I’ve done in the past, your videos are so informative, love them so much, thanks for sharing! 💜
I use several brands of 100% cotton shirts (Bella Canvas, American Apparel, Port and Company, and Gildan). This shirt is a Port and Company brand. Gildan Ultra Cotton and Port and Company are my favorite though. They are a thicker shirt, but because of that I think they hold the folds better on more intricate designs like mandalas than the softer ring spun cotton shirts do. I'm also not a huge fan of shirts that have side seams. Most of the time ring spun are the ones that have a side seam and I've had trouble with the seams twisting. That makes it kind of difficult to center a design on the front of the shirt. I'm always trying new brands though in search of the "perfect" shirt.
Hi Angie! I love how this design turned out - dark tie dyes are my favorite! I was wondering if there is a specific reason why you begin most of your dyes with the shirt inside out? Thanks :)
Hi Emily! I do that to avoid any speckling from undissolved dye. Some dye colors are harder than others to get fully dissolved and so they can sometimes speckle little bits of dye onto the shirt. If the shirt is inside out some of the smaller dye speckles will stay on the inside and not show through to the front side of the shirt.
I kind of like that there is a bit of break in the colors like that. Gives the shirt a bit of uniqueness. Some shirts can look somewhat a bit like crayon coloring if totally and completely color saturated, the fact that there are random patterned breaks in the color shows it's done by hand and makes it special in it's own way.
I love this shirt. My son was walking through the room while I was watching and said he wanted me to make him this shirt but he said with a little more white:). So everyone is different on how much color they like and how much white. Every shirt is a mystery in the end.
Thank you - I'm so glad he thought it was cool! I agree that white does add to a design sometimes. A little more white on this shirt would brighten it up a bit. I agree though - every shirt turns out so unique. That's what I love about tie dye!

I know - right?! It's really frustrating when that happens. I'm sure steel blue gray and grape looked beautiful together. I'm a big fan of purple too!
I love this !
Thank you so much! 😊
I really like the location of the spiral.
