Use a different highlighter colour per fluid type so you know what your leak is in future because that shit is never coming out of your systems once you put it in them.
I followed the same steps as presented in the video. The liquid would not mix with the steering fluid. It made tiny particals in the steering fluid. Also, steering fluid is dark colored and covers up the Fluorescent Properties of the yellow Liquid Extracted from the markers. Your method may work for some people but it failed to work in my Chevy Impala. My Chevy dealer charged me over $700 to replace the pump.
Why not cut the cartridge into small pieces, put them in the bottle and let them soak overnight. This way, I think, you will get way more concentrated liquid.
would it work with water? My friend has a mysterious slow coolant leak in his 120i and we dont want to waster money on filling up with coolant and waste all of the coolant. as he has already spend tons on the vehicle.
So for engine oil leak should these be put into small bit of oil or power steering fluid will do the job(altho don't think it's good idea to mix PS fluid with oil in engine lol)
I already bought some dye but I will try this and see how it works. I have tried many "tips" you guys give on here and many of them have worked GREAT! Thanks for the video have a leak I am going to be looking for hope it shows up as well as it did for you.
what if the radiator and the coolant reservoir are completely empty? once I parked the vehicle (a few days ago) there was spillage on the ground. I pulled it home but now trying to find out why its leaking? Can I start the car although it has no coolant in the components? thank you in advance for your help.
Depending on how watered down your antifreeze is, yes you can add fluorescent dye to the antifreeze. Manufactures already include fluorescent dye in the antifreeze so you're able to track down a leak easier.
I tried this and found out that it was not very bright in color? Tried it next to test sample of clean oil and not a lot of difference in brightness. Both appeared to be green yellow color. I heard there is phosphorus in new oil?
Thanks for replying 👍 I just thought that the transmission/engine dyes had been specially formulated so not to damage any seals etc and using the wrong type of dye with certain chemicals in it may damage a lot of things . I live in New Zealand and it's so expensive for transmission dye ,like 160 plus for a tiny tiny bottle .I was so disappointed:( I thought it was going to be a cheap visit to the auto store and I'd be away laughing but ah no ...It's way to expensive. I'm willing to try this on my power steering if there's no damage using this clever and cheap method 👍
Thank you. Would it work better to leave the highlighter 'innards' soak for a longer period such as overnight? Would that lessen the amount of leak detector liquid required? Thank you again. -just sayin'...
atf power steering fluid wet break hydraulic oil all works find n units...bay has concentrated stuff cheap here a search term for suff UV Reactive Water Dye Glow
Yes, you're right. It was on the fly. I have other lights that are much bigger. Didn't have them on me because I was using them hunting Sapphires in NC the week before! :D
Great..👌 Can i use this sketch pen color as a dye for my cpu water cooling system..? Is it good to mix that color with distilled water..? Please reply..☺️
So my girlfriend wanted me to drink a bottle of the yellow stuff to see what my pee looked like under the blacklight. Dude, I was a glowing mo-fo!!! And the pee wasn't all that glowed, either!!!

Thank you Roger for letting me know. All fixed.

instead of buying those why not buy the actual dye? which cost like under 8bucks...
Yikes... kill the background music !!

Should have bought bottle of Lucas power steering leak fix and followed instructions, but maybe next time.
I bought the Leak Detection Coolant at O'Rielly's on Jan 2018 for about 7 bucks..Don't know where he shops at
You cant put coolant in your engine oil... :/
He buys at walmart, at least that's what he said
I bought the Leak detection fluid for 7 bucks at the local auto store
Which one I check a few of them and Amazon was the only one that even had it.

3:35 is when I forgot I was watching a How To car video and just started dancing like a mofo.
🙄💨😂🤣🤣😭😭😭😭😭💀☠☠
I was going to do this...but, I decided to take to the repair shop and have them fix it also. I like the video.

Whichever leak you're trying to detect use the same fluid/oil that's in the system.
@@Nthefastlane good man thanks... I am from Ireland and can't find this liquid anywhere..so have to get the markers and do it myself. Thanks a lot
Will this hurt hydraulic internals if not flushed out?
Great Romans quote brother. I needed that, may The Father bless you

Would I use more dye ? For a 5 qrt size engine oil capacity? Maybe 2 markers, with 1 liter oil?
Good question.
I would say yes.
can i use any color dye in the antifreeze thank u
Yes you can.
@@Nthefastlane thank u so much
As long as it's fluorescent. The brightest fluorescent is the yellow dye.
Thanks for the resourceful tip/video and the bible verse. I suggest getting rid of the annoying music, or at least turning it down a bit.

AJ GREENGRO no coolant= don't start the engine
If u do run it anyway, run for only a minute or 2. Temp. gauge won't work w/o coolant/fluid.
Just fill it up with water/coolant and pressure test the system, you don't even have to run it
Saved me $40. Thanks bro!👍
This is a good tip!
Do you have to flush out the engine after using this?
If I'm checking the motor oil I would use motor oil right?? Not water?? Sorry just making sure 😅
Yes, motor oil
hahahaha
I think I did hear him say water at one point, but in fact saw him put power steering fluid in and then the yellow marker. Am I wrong?
i have a leak on my b18c4 right side near botom mout not sure if its power srear or brake oil
TIP:: HOLD THE YELLOW reveal glasses over the camera lense ~~ ;>)
Leak test dye is $5 at AutoZone
So you can do the same exact thing for radiator Except with antifreeze but isn’t antifreeze already neon green?
Depending on how watered down your antifreeze is, yes you can add fluorescent dye to the antifreeze. Manufactures already include fluorescent dye in the antifreeze so you're able to track down a leak easier.
@@Nthefastlane Now why didn't they just pray the leak away?
I tried this and found out that it was not very bright in color? Tried it next to test sample of clean oil and not a lot of difference in brightness. Both appeared to be green yellow color. I heard there is phosphorus in new oil?
How many florescent markers should be use to detect an antifreeze leak?
I would say just one per 16oz application. So if you're mixing up a bottle like I did one marker should be fine.
Interesting tip.Would this work or damage putting it in a power steering fluid resivour?
That's where I put it in the video, it won't hurt it at all.
Thanks for replying 👍

Wow, did Micheal Bay direct that intro?
would help a lot better having a bigger light

@@JesseEdwards-b4cYa could spit on it 😂😂
Thank you so much! I did it on my Renault megane and find the leak on the hose pipe to the heater matrix .thank s to you and UA-cam. 😀
You are very welcome Overmars.
Very nice trick man !
New subscriber do ordered from Amazon. U i. Present i know where the oil leak is but this will definitely help and can use on other projects ! Thanks
Thanks for the sub JON! It definitely comes in handy. Anytime!

Yes it will work fine.
will this work with water ?
What about transmission?
great tip right there!
Thanks John!
need a brighter pen. Thanks for the video.
very very helpful
Living in a cold climate, I would be afraid to put 'water' (with or without dye) in my steering system as it might freeze and make matters worse. js
He didn't. He put the steering fluid in a clean dry water bottle. Soaked thd cartridges in the fluid then added it to the resivoir.
Works great thx
So if your doing radiator just use distilled water.
UV dye for 1 time use is like $8 on Amazon.
black light?
Love the scripture verse
I'd be more concerned with the noise coming from the bottom end of the engine. It's oil islow worn or bearings are showing wear.
Good
Love the Scripture reference on your video!
Has a $15,000 car lift. Can only afford 5 tablespoons of power steering fluid, 4 markers and a $12 black light.
So my girlfriend wanted me to drink a bottle of the yellow stuff to see what my pee looked like under the blacklight. Dude, I was a glowing mo-fo!!! And the pee wasn't all that glowed, either!!!
O'Reilly
Tracer Products Oil Based Dye - LF2001CS
$10.99
Easy fast cheap
Imagine that he is detecting an oil leak from a northstar engine
UV leak detecting guy is only $10 where I live. The flashlight is 250 bucks.
I would have gotten an actual dye or even a food colour dye
SEEMS LIKE FOOD COLORING WOULD BE EASIER JUST CHECK FOR THE COLOR LEAK FROM EACH COLOR THAT WAS ADDED TO EACH RESERVOIR!!!
Idk what's worse, the intro or the background music.
Can I use this method to find a leak in my pants? 😁
Keep spreading the word ... FYI I only watch the videos for the Bible message
I plan on it. :)
Unwatchable with the music, bro.
The music made me leave before 2 minutes
Can't find the leak
I enjoy the scripture.
really enjoyed the Bible verse. I think the video would be better with less music.
Not clear , it’s more clearer on ac system than engine
Still has to fix the leaks, which will be more than his $3.00 brainiac.
Music is very irritating
Piss the music noise off
Boofer inventions damn tweakers are living off the grid 😂
Get rid of the damn techno music!!!
The off the stupid music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
👍👍👍👍👍
Horrible back ground music ...

Yes with a fluorescent light.
This music is intolerable.
Helpful video, could've done without the gay ass music in the background though.
