Use a different highlighter colour per fluid type so you know what your leak is in future because that shit is never coming out of your systems once you put it in them.
instead of buying those why not buy the actual dye? which cost like under 8bucks...

Leak detector dye was only $7.50 at Napa. I'm not sure why it is so expensive where you are at.
I'll have to check Napa didn't look there..
I followed the same steps as presented in the video. The liquid would not mix with the steering fluid. It made tiny particals in the steering fluid. Also, steering fluid is dark colored and covers up the Fluorescent Properties of the yellow Liquid Extracted from the markers. Your method may work for some people but it failed to work in my Chevy Impala. My Chevy dealer charged me over $700 to replace the pump.
Should have bought bottle of Lucas power steering leak fix and followed instructions, but maybe next time.
Leak test dye is $5 at AutoZone
Thanks for the resourceful tip/video and the bible verse. I suggest getting rid of the annoying music, or at least turning it down a bit.
I bought the Leak Detection Coolant at O'Rielly's on Jan 2018 for about 7 bucks..Don't know where he shops at

Why not cut the cartridge into small pieces, put them in the bottle and let them soak overnight. This way, I think, you will get way more concentrated liquid.

Which one I check a few of them and Amazon was the only one that even had it.

would it work with water? My friend has a mysterious slow coolant leak in his 120i and we dont want to waster money on filling up with coolant and waste all of the coolant. as he has already spend tons on the vehicle.

I tried this and found out that it was not very bright in color? Tried it next to test sample of clean oil and not a lot of difference in brightness. Both appeared to be green yellow color. I heard there is phosphorus in new oil?

So if your doing radiator just use distilled water.

Depending on how watered down your antifreeze is, yes you can add fluorescent dye to the antifreeze. Manufactures already include fluorescent dye in the antifreeze so you're able to track down a leak easier.

atf power steering fluid wet break hydraulic oil all works find n units...bay has concentrated stuff cheap here a search term for suff UV Reactive Water Dye Glow
So for engine oil leak should these be put into small bit of oil or power steering fluid will do the job(altho don't think it's good idea to mix PS fluid with oil in engine lol)
Whichever leak you're trying to detect use the same fluid/oil that's in the system.

Also this will only work for your engine oil or ATF MAYBE gear oil. DO NOT put PSF in your coolant or fuel PLEASE!
Nor should you put highlighter juice in them. Please just spend the 8$ and get the dye.

what if the radiator and the coolant reservoir are completely empty? once I parked the vehicle (a few days ago) there was spillage on the ground. I pulled it home but now trying to find out why its leaking? Can I start the car although it has no coolant in the components? thank you in advance for your help.
AJ GREENGRO no coolant= don't start the engine
If u do run it anyway, run for only a minute or 2. Temp. gauge won't work w/o coolant/fluid.
Just fill it up with water/coolant and pressure test the system, you don't even have to run it
How many florescent markers should be use to detect an antifreeze leak?
I would say just one per 16oz application. So if you're mixing up a bottle like I did one marker should be fine.
UV leak detecting guy is only $10 where I live. The flashlight is 250 bucks.

He didn't. He put the steering fluid in a clean dry water bottle. Soaked thd cartridges in the fluid then added it to the resivoir.

As long as it's fluorescent. The brightest fluorescent is the yellow dye.

I just thought that the transmission/engine dyes had been specially formulated so not to damage any seals etc and using the wrong type of dye with certain chemicals in it may damage a lot of things .
I live in New Zealand and it's so expensive for transmission dye ,like 160 plus for a tiny tiny bottle .I was so disappointed:(
I thought it was going to be a cheap visit to the auto store and I'd be away laughing but ah no ...It's way to expensive.
I'm willing to try this on my power steering if there's no damage using this clever and cheap method 👍

Yes, you're right. It was on the fly. I have other lights that are much bigger. Didn't have them on me because I was using them hunting Sapphires in NC the week before! :D

I'd be more concerned with the noise coming from the bottom end of the engine. It's oil islow worn or bearings are showing wear.
