Hello Vaajchang, no the dye is harmless and made specifically to be mixed with coolant. However, doing a coolant drain would probably be a good idea since you already let most of it drain after changing out the defective part. Great question and thanks for watching! 🤟
My worries too, since I have disappearing coolant with no visible leaks, and dont want to cause more damage. I'm thinking put dye in coolant, drive vehicle as usual. Look for leaks, also remove spark plugs, flash blscklight into spark plug holes and have even ordered a $20 boroscope/Amazon, to check for head gasket leak. Maybe after all repairs, pay mechanic to also change the coolant.
Can i pour this before i go on a road trip cause my leak is small and im driving 4 hours away but i can just do what you did drive for a week but you think 4 hours of driving counts as a week?
@@TrickShiftGarage I didnt end up doing it cause I didnt see your reply on time your so helpful though thanks for the help I will just do what you did and wait for a few days or a week. Thanks.
That's correct. You need something like this in GM Vehicles: ACDelco 1149328 GM Original Equipment 10-5046 Dex-Cool Leak Detection Tracer Dye - 1 oz amzn.to/48YVXLK

Do the dye cause any damage if not drain out after diagnosis

Very true Ruth. Doing a coolant flush is generally pretty cheap anyways. So might as well get some new fluid in there.

I believe it should be fine.

What flashlight do you recommend?
Any that's a UV light. Even the cheap ones are worth it.
