Used to play iPhone ring tones on marimba randomly to see who would grab their phone, the people that did have their phones with them (even if they were on silent) usually got in trouble, lol. Also used to sneak behind the concert bass and play thumb-rolls to encourage that impending sense of dread in unsuspecting flautists. I got so good at thumb rolls I became my school's principle tambourine player. Winning. Also would randomly bow various metallics. Impending sense of dread, so on so forth.
i find a lot of memes you can play on tenors are very funny because nobody expects it at least not in my band. crab rave and we are number one are 2 of my favorites to play
My college line instructor/writer had a great time confusing us by throwing in random bars of the 5/4 Mars lick into nearly every piece of music we played, as well as an entire sideline drum jig that was just Mars repeated.
Our pit meme was very of the time. We would play “I write sins not tragedies” from Panic at the disco. Sound kind of cool when you have like 4 marimbas pounding the power chords.
Hey real talk though. You might be onto something with the snare under the marimba. It’s an interesting sound if you could get it just in the bass notes. Could write a whole piece around that.
My Sharona was a meme and a college near me had a song that included random measures of 5/4 , 9/8, etc. which always occurred after enough simple 4/4 measures to get the cheerleaders clapping along.
thanks I went back to play my drumset for a bit for the first time in a while after seeing this and it was honestly the most fun I've had on an instrument in a long time
Here’s a fun one. For this, you need to have access to Timpani that have a fine tuner knob. These are common on Timpani that utilize a clutch on the Tuner Pedal that is designed to help hold a specific pitch and eliminate the chances of the pitch increasing or decreasing at random. All you do is either turn the tuner all the way to the right, or all the way to the left. The next person will hop on and be surprised to learn that the pedal positions for their notes had changed. I did this completely on accident to a colleague in my Studio, and although he wasn’t too happy, the simple fix is to turn the Fine Tuner until the pitches match what they were before.
One of our snare drummers and the tenor sax scored the Naruto theme song on muse score and tried to get the band to learn it. Also, the saxophones played veggie tales during the third quarter and the football coach complained to the band director.
11:11 nah... we're fine... we all learned how to cycle breathe years ago... that's the only way we could keep from going bored while you were off playing 8 on a hand for the 5000th time....
When I marched SCV, whenever someone did anything extra stupid, the center snare would tap off the Poison lick and everyone within earshot would play the last note as loud as they could or tap it somewhere on their body. The few times he did it to the box were the best.
Brilliant, excellent, amazing, sassafrasling, ergonomicon, illasaurus recks, infinity and beyondicide, metal gear sorid, and tricks are for kids. Very good.
When I was in band our band director would often give us songs with NO PERCUSSION(❗️❗️❗️) so we would goof off back there. When we were juniors and seniors the freshman band had rehearsal right after we did, so we loosened the straps on the crash cymbals, so they would fall off. We were evil. Additionally we would mess the timpani up for them. We got detention once for doing the “tuba knight” thing with a sousaphone bell.
You should dona video of all your instruments and how much they cost. As a former oboist, I thought 5k for a loree was pretty standard in the pro level series minus the strad level heritage series. I can't imagine that the marimba is cheap
This is always the surprising thing with indoor percussion. At some point someone had to say, "You know what... let's take a bunch of teens and give them access to $50k+ worth of instruments. You know what's an even better idea? Have said teens run with the instruments because we've minimized set up and tear down time to maximize show time. Surprisingly enough... very little actually goes wrong.
idk if this is consider a drummer meme, but whenever my school play zombie nation at football stand, the tenor would do paradiddles down the drums at the 4th measure of the famous chorus. Also, tenor can definitely play Mario and Tetris theme song
0:00 I love you Eric, but f*ck you, f*ck you, f*ck you, hahahaha. I always played that when I was on the vibes and made my friends get in trouble once lmaooo
I had to play Wipeout for a concert, when I got the part I thought it was really hard, but then I went through the piece and it wasn’t that hard, I then played Wipeout (because it the beat was just a small part of a larger piece) and I loved how simple it was 😂😂😂
I feel bad for those trumpets and trombones. Because they're STILL NOT DONE. Edit: I forgot to include Mellophones, Baritones, maybe Cornets/Flugelhorns, and Tubas.
I like how your marimba sounds Ours a extremely resonant, and its a bit off putting sometimes It sounds cool in slower music But when it comes to faster melodic stuff, playing different notes quickly kind of muddles the tone in my opinion because you can hear the previous notes still on top of the notes you're currently playing It's like when you play the bass, and you don't mute the previous note, yknow Everything just gets in the way
What it the thing hanging on the wall behind Steven every time he tries to hit the hi-mom shot? It looks like a quad pad but has mallets hanging on it so it could be it’s own instrument. Idk. if any knows what it is pls tell me
What memes, trolls, and pranks do you want to see next?

hi

Good morning! This is video number 53 of me asking Eric to make a set of tenors out of differently sized or tuned snare drums.
great idea
He said he would do it once he can afford it
Yes please
He kinda did that in the Ottomotone spiritual
Didn’t he do that in the otamatone spiritual???

When the teacher is thinking or pausing the band, I like to play the Jeopardy! theme.

Hey I love your new Mr Krabs temple blocks! 2:22
"Bb please"
My brother in christ, thats an A.
Any of the ringtones involving marimba make for a good prank
man work sucks but #8 totally brought me back to life. love you eric
Says tune to Bb, proceeds to tune to A
LOLLL
interesting detail about the moon theme, the first few measures are in 15/16. (They're essentially missing a 16th note)
4:02 How modern music is made.
Funny thing is that Collin McNutt was actually the percussion judge for one of my mb comps this year.
One of our snare drummers and the tenor sax scored the Naruto theme song on muse score and tried to get the band to learn it. Also, the saxophones played veggie tales during the third quarter and the football coach complained to the band director.
WHICH Naruto theme song? There’s like 20! Fighting Dreamers?
@@ferretyluv Naruto Main Theme
Missed my all time favorite: shifting the accidentals on the marimbas. When it works, the confusion of the marimba player is priceless.
Omg thats evil

Colin McNutt also writes percussion for my old band, so we get our fair share of McNutt specials...
#11 Was really funny cause I’m actually playing Yellow After The Rain for a recital 😭 💚

A person in my school band played the PH intro during our area concert
