Just moved to Portugal. I haven't learned how to use my washing machine yet. LOL
I love this "boots on the ground" commentary about everyday activities. Been looking for a channel like this covering Portugal for a long time. I think I have found a new favorite channel. ❤
I'm glad you found me. Trying to capture the fun, but all the routine and mundane of day to day in Portugal too.
Thanks, this was helpful. I’ve used washing machines in Europe a few times, and they usually take a long time for washing, and especially drying. I’ve paid for the washing service a couple of times, which was great. Is this sort of service common in Portugal?
Services like this are available in Lisbon, but not that common in the rest of Portugal.
please give me invesment detail. how much total invesment for this project .
Thanks for this. Helpful for future stays without a machine.
2 questions I hope you can help answer:
a)For the Washing Machine, do you supply your own Laundry Liquid and Fabric Conditioner? (Had to use one in the Algarve, where the Detergent and Conditioner were connected to the machine and auto doused per wash?
b) do the Dryers have temperature control? (ie. Air Dry) Or are they pre-set to High? (ie. Cremate and Shrink)
I should have explained that in the vid. You can bring your own, or buy detergent in the laundromat. Nothing is automatically placed in the wash. For drying, the dryers in the places I have gone have 4 settings, from air dry to hot.
We used a laundromat in Matosinhos (just north of Porto) last month, and I was surprised to learn that the washing machine automatically dispensed their detergent into the wash. And by the way, their detergent was VERY fragrant/floral, too scented for our liking.
@@louisrios5546 Interesting, I have used 3 laundromats here in Lisbon and none did that, thankfully!!!

How much need investment this business
We stayed in a resort down in Lagos and they had one of those combo units. When the dry cycle kicked off at like 2am, it woke us up and scared the living hell out of us. Sounded like a jet engine about to come apart. I unplugged that sucker and used the drying rack going forward. I think I’ll buy a heated rack instead
Good idea on the heated rack. We have stayed in a few places with the combo machine, and the clothes never seem to dry.
Another helpful video. Thank you for sharing this type of information. I am still learning how to do things in Portugal. Great video!
Thanks so much for taking the time to watch.
Another practical and useful video. 👍🏻 We’re hoping not to need a dryer on our trip next month-but you never know. Thanks, as always, for these practical videos. 🙏🏻
You are welcome. Trying to capture more of day to day life in Lisbon this year, along with a few other things I am working on.
One of my 'requirements' when first moving to Europe was having both a washer and dryer!! I hang dry most of the the time, but in the winter it's impossible! When I lived in Lisbon I only had a washer so I'd take my wet clothes to the laundromat even just to partially dry them! Really happy to havd my dryer and the electrity bill has been ok so far!!
Glad you have a dryer and happy to hear the bills have not been too high.
I will definitely check out the laundry locations in entrecampos Since my apartment just has a washer. Thanks so much for the information
You are welcome.
Joric, I Enjoy your videos as you’re very informative and to the point. Last November, we stayed in Cascais, Faro, and Porto, and the washers stated they automatically add detergent, disinfectant and softener. The first time we used one, we had our own detergent that we always bring with us, and the clothes still came out completely rinsed, even with the extra soap! We found that the moisture in dryers do not get vented to the outside like in the U.S., but is collected in a tray that is emptied regularly (or routed to a drain in the laundromats). That may be the reason that the clothes do not dry with the initial cycle. When we relocate to Porto later this year, we do plan to purchase our own dryer. One of the good things about using a laundromat, is that you can usually find a great restaurant to eat while you wait for your clothes to be done.
Great comment. I'm going to be in Cascais today and I want to find a laundromat that does the automatic dispensing. Thank you!
