    This video is so awesome, I learned a lot from it and am trying to get into this type of stuff so me and my grandpa can restore his 1971 Chevrolet pick up.

    I had a 72 C10 long bed my Dad got as my 1st vehicle when I was 16. This brings back great memories. Have been looking for another ever since my brother wrecked it.😢 Ya’ll did an amazing job, love that blue color.

    That’s the most beautiful truck I’ve seen. The colors are outstanding. I really enjoyed the video. They don’t make them like that anymore.

    I decided a few days ago it might be a good idea to do my 1st restoration, but after watching this video and having never done anything more extensive than changing a radiator and starter, it's obvious that I'm ill equipped 😂
    How much would something like this cost me?

      I asked some guys who are car guys and one knew a lot of paint guys. A job like this truck would be between $30,000 and $40,000.

    I'm currently in the welding stage...I can't wait to lay down my pearl white, then medium olive metallic, then at least 3 coats of clear over that...one day...

    How much did that job cost, from it coming to shop to goin back to the customer

    • @onthefritzfarm
      @onthefritzfarm 3 місяці тому

      I found out today, if you have to ask, you can’t afford it. That job likely cost the customer, between $30,000 and $40,000.

    Can't wait for chrome wheels to come back in style - so sick of black. I have an '83 that needs similar work and was curious as to price range of this type of work? It would help me decide whether to have it done or simply buy a truck already restored.

    How did you pull the dents out on the trail light portion of the bed? Did you just cut replace and reweld? I have a 72 that has some dents on the right tail light area causing me to not be able to install the tail light correctly.

    With how expensive and unreliable new trucks are getting it's gonna soon be more financially wise to buy something like this that'll actually last 20 years.

      Better get your project now before they go up any more...people want an arm & leg for a buildable pile of rust with a vin plate & a title...

      I was on a new duramax. Sold it and bought a 2001 2500 HD. And now I'm building a 1982 c30 c&c flatbed. No more new, overpriced, complicated trucks for me!

    As others have asked.....what blue is that? If you don’t want to say, that's cool. Just say that. But ignoring comments isn't cool.

    Please take my comment as knowledge sharing rather than shit talking. Love the video but please please please stop putting filler on bare metal. The best way is to put down a quick layer of epoxy primer on the bare metal and then put your filler on top of the epoxy. The reason why is that the filler will hold moisture in from the air. The epoxy will keep the moisture in the filler from touching the metal. The epoxy will also latch onto the metal and the filler better so you will have a long lasting paint job that will stand the test of time. If you apply your filler during the curing window of about 5 to 7 days, the pores of the epoxy are still open and will add a chemical bond to the next layer (filler or paint).
    I used to do fille rthe same way that you did it until I was educated by a 40 year master of the autobody craft. I am just sharing the knowledge. He said that in the dry southwest, it would not be a problem but up here in the rust belt, epoxy over metal always is the way to go.
