Hey man great video. I have a leaking drivers side rear diff axle leak. I guess this procedure would pretty much be what I needed to do in addition to replacing the seal? Thanks!
I think you will find it is extremely difficult to remove the seal. It is nearly impossible to get any tool in there. If you do get the seal out installation should be a breeze.
I saw a guy here on youtube do one on a 2010 camaro and he had a pry type tool that popped it out but there didn't look to be much room. He looked to have more trouble getting it seated in place then getting it out. I've seen on corvette forum where some people have replaced the gear oil with redline and it stopped leaking. I couldn't imagine why that would help however. @@RideWNC
So what about your axle seal did you replace it and did you use a new factory axle or a rebuilt axle that has axle to seal contact area machined down. Thanks for the video
My axle seals never leaked. It is a complete PITA to remove the seal. Almost impossible with the differential still in the car. I bought new axles from my Chevy dealer. It was cheap enough. I did not find a place who sold used. Also, my local dealership sells me parts just above cost. Usually cheaper than internet prices.
I'll be doing this project on my c5 corvette rear passenger side started making scrapping sound think cv axle is gone. I'll be replacing both axle shaft and hub.
@@One-way first check make sure no road debris is caught between wheels or caliper. If not replace axle, I replaced both at same time that fixed my issue but be sure to replace axle seals at same time to prevent leaking
@@american16 I broke a wheel stud and can hear the bearing has gone bad. So am trying to resolve the hub. Thanks for the replies !!! I’m gonna have to find out about axles and seals since I’m in there...
Thanks for the video !!! That bottom is quite the pain in the ass on my 01.... I’m glad the engineers gave more room in the C6 .
This is gonna make my life easier in a few days. Thanks!
Fantastic video great job
Great information! Thanks for sharing! I have a 2007 Vette too.
Thanks so much

@@One-way sorry also replaced hubs too but noticed play in axle so that’s why I did those as well
@@american16 that bottom ball joint is a bear... no access for the 6mm with the axle in the way.
