    I had the same issue on my 08 - installed the M2W only to find out out my solenoid was busted so instead of getting a louder car, I got a quieter car after fixing. Oh well, nothing a set of longtubes can't fix! Love the channel man, my favorite new find and the first one I have binged in a while. The content is great but the editing and creativity (love the jack in the box) are top notch as well! I'll be hoping you get another project after this one is "finished"

      Hey thanks dude, I appreciate the kind words! I'm still laughing over the irony of installing the M2W in order to achieve the opposite result I was looking for. And there's an added bonus - my battery now drains even faster when I'm not driving the car! 😀😅🥲

    Little tip on flying spindles and anything locked onto a taper. Back the nut off but leave it on the stud with at least half the threads into the nut, then use the separator. It'll pop loose without flying anywhere. :)
    You're right, there are all kinds of little 'tricks of the trade' and the 1st time is always the most painful. Nice thing though... the next time is oh so much easier and that's why, for me, it's really to part with any of the cars I've built, because I've been through every nut and bolt on them. The learning curve is painful and sometimes... even expensive, but well worth it in the end. 🤜

    This is a great video Josh and a perfect example of the love-hate relationship many of us have with doing our own amateur auto mechanics. Whenever I'm about to start a project on a car that I've never done before I usually have to get past the idea that I may run into a problem. At the end, even though I've definitely had my share of mishaps (and lots of wasted time and money), deep down I still prefer doing my own work when possible since it's hugely satisfying when it comes out great. Goldie will be awesome once the job is complete!

    The joys or working on the race car! I replaced wheel bearings last year and cut the lower ball joint boot. That led to me replacing ball joints on both sides just to keep things even. This winter I am in the process of installing Delrin suspension bushings. So far it's been smooth since it's not the first time I've taken everything apart. Can't wait to see how it preforms on track. Our builds are very similar, but I'm running a 315 square setup, adjustable sway bars and now the Delrin bushing kit.

    • @Zach_Horvath
      @Zach_Horvath Рік тому

      @@JoshVanVeld I went with Strano Performance because they offered adjustment for both front and rear bars. I have the Borg bushing kit as well. If you don't have access to a hydraulic press and don't care about destroying the old rubber bushing drill holes in the lower bushings and cut the lip off the uppers. It makes them much easier to get out of the control arms.

    As a general contractor who started getting my hands dirty on cars, I'd never work on cars in any serious capacity any more. BTW next time just put some tension on the separator and then hit it with a hammer. The ball joints will pop out from the concussion force of the hammer

    • @JoshVanVeld
      @JoshVanVeld  Рік тому

      QuickJack BL-5000SLX. I got it on sale at Costco over 3 years ago, it looks like that model has been discontinued since then. I believe I heard that the replacement gets the car higher off the ground.
      I went with the extended studs because my buddy told me they could be handy if I ever wanted to run spacers. It seems unlikely now that I will and it means I have to run open-ended lug nuts, but that's not a huge deal.

    • @JoshVanVeld
      @JoshVanVeld  Рік тому

      You're probably fine with low miles like that. Honestly I'm not 100% sure mine had an issue - now that I have them off the car I don't hear or feel anything in any of them when I turn them by hand.
      A couple videos back there's a segment where you can hear a sound that's a bit like a moaning/groaning sound . It happens on high-speed sweeping right-hand turns, which would load up the rear driver's side wheel bearing so that's what I thought I was hearing.
      Could be tire noise but I didn't hear it when turning left and it sounded the same with the old pilot super sport tires as it did with the new sport 4S tires.
      Bottom line though, unless you're doing a lot of track days I wouldn't worry about it until the mileage gets a lot higher.

    • @JoshVanVeld
      @JoshVanVeld  Рік тому

      @@JRG_11 I don't know if it would be very common. When you start running extreme camber you can push the wheels out further, and more overall width can be better.
      Honestly when I was purchasing parts my buddy Trent who's a lot more of an expert than I am suggested going with the longer studs so I took his advice. 😁
      A downside is you need open-ended lug nuts because the factory nuts won't go on all the way.

      Maybe my point didn't come across in the video.
      For those of us who didn't grow up working on cars, some of these jobs can be really intimidating.
      It actually took me several days to shoot this one because anxiety over not knowing what I was doing was killing my motivation to work on it.
      And then, as always, once you've done it once, it doesn't seem so bad and you can't even related to being so stressed about it in the first place.
      The next time I take the suspension apart I'll be able to do it with confidence and hopefully I won't be so intimidated by a more challenging task.
      Right now this channel is about the path I'm taking with this project, which includes me learning as a mechanic and as a driver. It's not meant to be a series of how-to videos, and if that's what you're here for I can see why you'd be disappointed.
