What I learnt to do when visiting a mother with a new born and also has older children, take a gift(s) for the older kid(s) when visiting (snacks, fruits, toys ..whatever) so that they don't feel left out.

I delivered at meridian equator in Nairobi West and paid around 35k. Rooms are private (its just two mothers in one room and its partioned )You get a menu to select meals ,fruits and drinks. You get a massage from a nurse throughout the labour process and you can have your partner the whole time until baby comes. NHIF took care of like 5k. Then I stayed there like two days and left the 3rd day. Make good research for your delivery options.I felt very good about my whole delivery experience. I would still give it a chance if am in Kenya again. That was last year July .

Also, interesting comparison on hospital stay. I was in a general ward with my twins and nope.. would not do that again. Navigating the space for their cribs, my bed and the guest chair was a dance at best. And even though I was in a private Hosi, it would freak me out each time I’d leave them to go to the bathroom- down the hall! That said, there’s no way we would have afforded a private room anyways. The general ward, CS, zero NICU stay, my own gynae and paed plus everything for 5 days cost 500k. I’d like to say we’d do it different second time around but at those prices and how multiple moms are at ‘risk’ for subsequent multiple births.. nah uh.

This has offered so much new knowledge I can't thank you enough. I really wanted twins, but I didn't. Instead, I currently have a 7 week old baby and my older one is 1.3. I have have Intentionally given my older child attention, of course I am having to split but her more. It was also more and still is an instinct and also guilt since i feel I've forced her to grow up fast. I thought I'd raise them as twins but the older one is far much ahead and I know people would think one year is such a short difference but its not. Again the older is a girl and the new one is a boy. I know I have lots of work you do and learning because it will be different. 😂 and i can totally relate to both your experience...though I had a natural birth for both. I think you should do a part 2..What about how difficult breastfeeding is at first! Weh!😂 Thanks Ivy and Shikkie for sharing!

Hi, am a twin, when you are talking about co dependency, looking back in primary school our teachers really worked at separating my twin and I, I was particularly the clingy one,on one hand it was good on the other hand we always felt like people have always wanted to separate us.I think it's important that once the twins get to a certain age where they can comprehend or understand things it's important to tell them why.The most interesting thing is most of the time we would eventually end up together, whether it's in the same class or school, town.

For my labor emergency CS in Dec 2017, cost me 55k: private hospital 3 days, ward. The hospital is Mary Immaculate Hospital along Gitanga Road the doctor was great and so was the nurses and the hospital was secluded only two of us which was also great. All I remember was the pain but the cost was a relief especially because I'm a single parent. And of course all mamas worry about is a healthy and safe delivery for the baby

I had mild morning sickness for 4.5 days...it never happened in the morning as i had expected. Mid afternoon to around 8 at night. It is caused by Increased HCG (Same stuff that measured by pregnancy test) produced by placenta...but decreases as pregnancy for most. A few people, will have high HCG for longer and thus have morning sickness past first trimester.

My delivery at Mp-shah was 154,000 in a duplex room. I had a normal delivery and I stayed for 3 days. Also I should I mention I didn’t labor there. By the time I got to hospital I was fully dilated. But I don’t think it would have made a huge difference. Point is its possible to deliver at a private hospital with less than 250,000.
