@NooBiker We did a bit of motorway initially to make distance as we wanted to arrive early at Sos del Ray. We had heard the town was beautiful and it didn't disappoint.
We stayed in that parador in 2021. Fabulous accommodation. And the bar terrace is great! Unfortunately we arrived late-ish and didn't get much of a chance to explore the town. What we did see, we loved!
@theheroblob5036 it's difficult sometimes to get arrival times perfect for hotels, but Carol, being the planner she is opted for faster roads early in the day. This Parador is right up there compared to the ones we stop in later. What a location! Thanks for watching
Years back I stayed in a couple of stunning Paradors in northern Spain, like staying in a luxury museum, arranged the tour through Brittany ferries, fantastic trip.
@IanTed Yep, all the Paradors we stopped in were unusual, often historic. The next one possibility in need of a bit of TLC but again a stunning location.
@@BanditmanukA lot nicer than a modern box hotel but I often use them as well, treating myself to a bit of luxury every few days is very nice on a long trip.
Looks amazing, I dont see how you could better that and its such a good price considering what we pay here in UK. I cant tour at the moment but at least I can enjoy yours so thanks for sharing. Take care both.
@youngeroldie5089 Yep, that money in the UK doesn't get you a hotel or location like that! (They do get more expensive!) Get yourself right, get touring. Take care and best wishes Closing in on the magic 1000K subs, quite an achievement 👌
Hi both, thanks for another great instalment of your adventures. Nice to see that some places are not spoilt with over commercialised greed and you can enjoy it in all its natural setting. Looking forward to the next episode!
@@the_mad_leprechaun Glad you enjoyed watching. It was hard to believe a population was living in that town! Sos del Ray was brilliant to wander around. We're glad we got there early enough to explore.
@ticthedog6095 Appreciate you watching, we're about to throw the bacon under the grill as I type. The roads get more dramatic in the next episode as we push towards central Pyrenees.
Superb one guys what a place to be and those roads not a pothole nor cone in sight beautiful building quieted and I'm not envious in the slightest 🤢👌👍brilliant great watch thanks for sharing these experiences .
@crumblymal8479 In the next episode we discover not all Spanish roads are perfectly surfaced! Glad we could bring you along via the video. We appreciate you watching
Really enjoyed that, stirred up some great memories, lovely old town to explore and the parador looked lovely when all lit up at night. Yes, we too like to enjoy the journey and are more than happy to be like Captain Slow and not whizzing as fast as possible through 5 countries, each to their own I guess! Look forward to your next instalment as family commitments prevent us from touring this year.
@exeterrider We didn't see camper van man again 😆 We loved the empty roads as we got closer to the mountains. Believe me, they just get better and better.
That looks beautiful, and that Parador is incredible Must've been nice to ride with so little traffic. Love your videos, you're both so relaxed and natural on camera. 👌👍
@tojj29 That Parador turned out to be one of our favourites of the trip. Amazing location. Food and service were spot on. The roads get way more dramatic on the next episode that I'm currently still editing. I think after riding together for over a decade, we are relaxed in most situations. I still don't enjoy seeing myself on camera 😕
Surprisingly empty for a tourist place. You had a nice opportunity to enjoy it at max. The whole area and the hotel was nice. Great Episode Richard. Enjoyed. Cheers.
Beautiful Scenery. Laughed when you came out of the bathroom and caught Carol closing the Mini Bar 😂looking forward to seeing the rest of your adventure.
This vid went by so fast. I decided to hold off watching until the next afternoon after my meal so I could watch it safely without running to the fridge and fixing a meal and drink.😄😄
@@markmcdonald470 We would stay again. We probably should have visited the Pyrenees a little later (when you did) in later vids we experienced plenty of closed roads, plenty of rain as well!
Lovely accommodation, nice if you can afford it. The fantastic roads and views are free though. Spanish roads are miles better than ours in the UK but they are not perfect. Even the road Carol was describing as so smooth it actually had cracks in it and looked like it had started to deteriorate. On the whole Spanish roads are far superior to ours in the UK but I have still ridden some bad ones in the Picos and Asturias. French, Swiss and German roads are better still. You certainly realise what a dump the Uk has become in recent years when you return from Spain, France or Switzerland.
@@alexmorgan3435 Yep, the roads were far from perfect but way better than the national disgrace at home. We wouldn't normally spend big on hotels on tour but Carol wanted it to be a bit special for my 60th, so we went with the Parador theme
@@Banditmanuk Agreed. And why not spend a little more if you can? Sadly I can't at the moment. It looked like you and Carol had made some good choices. The second parador with the restaurant with the panoramic view looked awesome and the food exquisite. Those really long straight roads in Spain possibly Roman roads, are so easy to go fast on. I find i really have to watch my speed easy to creep well over 100-120kmh. I had a few cars pass me even when I was riding at 130-135-140kmh on them in the middle of nowhere.
Great start and lovely accomodation 👌

It seems a bit of a distant memory now, but this first stop was amazing. Loved the old town, definitely not spoilt by mass tourism
I’m sure it does. Doesn’t take long to get back into the old routine does it 🙂↔️
