Mountaineering to save Tibet

A School on the Roof of the World: In the "Tibet Autonomous Region", Tibetans are often left behind in the spectacular economic boom underway. Whereas in the past they could envisage becoming farmers, shepherds or yak drivers, today's young people have no other future than being unemployed.
In this context, around twenty young Tibetans from economically disadvantaged villages in the Tingri region are joining, under the initiative of Nima Tsering, also a Tibetan, the first high mountain guide school created in Lhasa. The objective: to teach them a profession, that of guide, in harmony with their way of life and their culture.
Will this visionary and unique project (the only initiative of its kind to date) allow these “privileged” people to escape their precarious situation? By returning to practice their profession in their region, will they help revive a local economy that could save their civilization, currently in danger?
