Alyssa: this place is immaculately clean
Gotta take in your environment before ya go ya know
It's never a bad time to admire good housekeeping. Even the ghost would be thankful that their house making skills finally paid off
Cleanliness is next to Godliness!!!! Be safe; stay clean!
Reminds me of one of those perfectly timed photos of the first Silent Hill, where you're investigating the dog house and wondering where the dog is, just as one of the doggos is lunging in the background
LMAO XD
I can’t wait till I have a kickass grand daughter that I can teach to slay ghosts and inevitably sacrifice her to become an evil all powerful entity.

@@RegenWasTaken got rejected by crush or smtg.
Lol, when Scissorman left, I thought you'd still shoot and miss, just to point out the timing on the shots.
Oh damn that would've been a good idea
It would have felt a little bit disjointed at that juncture.
Which one is more ridiculous?
Jontron defeating the Scissorman witha piece of ham from his holster or James being naked with a bow?
Kris Kreme - Jontron. Just all the smack noises sell the scene.
Jontron is more likely killed by the skeleton with guns.
"Ham! The harbinger of gout!
And a scissorman's worst fear!"
Yes
Honestly, the latter option.
Fun fact: the Corroder enemy is based on John George Haigh, the Acid Bath Murderer, that was convicted of six murders- Corroder even shares his name sans the 'George', which is kind of interesting. None of the other stalkers are really direct references to actual killers- except maybe the Chopper's name, as a shoutout to the Aussie Chopper.
spooky umbra cool
Yeah i noticed that way back when too, I remember thinking it was in bad taste to be honest.
Chopper... good film ~___^
Robert Morris aka sledgehammer I believe might have been a real life killer
If you've ever watched any Japanese drama, you'd understand the overacting thing.
The yakisoba slap or the sledding down the stairs one?
@the brother of some guy without a moustache Not really. "J-drama" and anime are not really the same when it comes to acting. Not even those silly super sentai shows.
Not kabuki theater, right?
Then, what's an example of a japanese drama with overacting?
@@TheAlison1456 At least a lot of the TV-drama I've seen from Japan is pretty cheesy.
A lot of cultures have dramas where everyone overacts (US soap operas, Indian soap operas, Latin American telenovelas), but Japan is probably the only one I've seen that has it bleed over into their video games.

I'd be up for Haunting Ground and NightCry next year for sure!
Absolutely! These games should make for great review material, for completely different reasons. Plus, NightCry is currently on sale on Steam.
I’d like a haunting ground review right now please.
Haunting ground is definitely a better game than....
Nightcry.
Rais Ryhas oh yeah I honestly don’t even think there’s enough there to do a lengthy review on NightCry
Oh, please not NightCry. It's basically Clock Tower Ghost Head level of bad.
I was literally thinking about whether are you going to release a video today just now haha.
Man, I wish every episode is a Halloween Special.
At least this is Nitro Rad, where halloween apparently starts in mid-September
@@hrgrhrhhr Yeah, I really hope that he could cover Haunting Ground next year! Looking forward to it
Same!
Its dumb how he only does horror on halloween. He should do it all year. There are so many great horor games that he could do.
Clock Tower: Magical Girl edition is genuinely my favorite in the franchise. I'd love to see you cover Haunting Ground and NightCry next year.
Soooo happy I was waiting for this :-) you are one of my favorite youtuber, Ive watched all of your videos! I hope you can do Fatal Frame too one day :)
Hopefully next year.
Fatel Frame would be awesome on this channel :o
Yeeees Fatal Frame!
God bless you man
Absolutely agree Fatal Frame was one of the few horror games that actually terrified me while playing the game. I would love to see that game on this channel!
The reason the protagonists of both Ghost Head and 3 are named Alyssa is because even in Japan, 3’s protagonist was named Alyssa. Since Ghost Head came out years earlier, its translation team just chose a random name to use instead of Yu (her original Japanese name). The dev team of 3 didn’t pay any attention to the translated name of Ghost Head’s protagonist and just chose their own. It was one insanely unfortunate coincidence.
He explicitly explained that in the video

Honestly, this game is a guilty pleasure of mine! All the over the top animations, weird story, the magical girl stuff, everything is just... Uh.. amazing, to say the least. I remember first playing this game when I was, like, around 10. It blew my fucking mind! Even back then I couldn't take it seriously, but it sure gave me a good laugh! I feel like if they polished the gameplay a bit more, and gave it a different name (so that it doesn't relate to CT in any way), the game would have been successful!
Though the publisher (and partially, developer), at the time, was responsible for single handedly ruining one of it's IPs with just a single game (Megaman X7), sooo~
Speaking of the PS2, I'm surprised that you haven't talked about the Fatal Frame/Project Zero franchise yet. I know, I know, you said you're gonna do it next year and all that, but it's still surprising you haven't played it up to that point given that you're such a big survival horror fan
The fact that a couple hours into the game I turned into a magical girl is probably the thing that made this game memorable to me over [GENERIC PLAYSTATION HORROR GAME] and I kind of love it
Clock Tower 3. It's a bat-shit insane game...

Would the mother be Resident Evil 4?

Was I the only one who really was thinking of Bayonetta during that ending? I mean a clock moving around at high speed with you on top, over-the-top action, angelic and gold symbols.

Can we say ridiculousness is a Cpacom's trademark? Come on: Resident Evil and its voiceacting, Devil May Cry and its way over the top cutscenes, Asura's Wrath, more of the same, etc. They are good games, but the Japanese vein is way too present there. :D

For Bates
Why do all horror stories always start simple but as the series goes on it gets more and more insane?
Escalation. Each sequel feels the need to make things bigger and better with higher stakes, and as they avoid retreading old ground they inevitably end up slowly spiraling into madness. See Jason X
Well this isn't a fair case for comparison, as it's an entirely different company and team.
@@Lucifronzregardless, it's a strangely common trend among horror games. Whether development goes to another team or not, they tend to get more action oriented and leave subtlety to the wayside. Even among some indie games, this can be seen.
@@329link generally i think the trend is more noticeable with horror games because they start with very high stakes from the very beginning. resident evil is a story about a mansion full of zombies because of an evil secret lab that infects people with a super virus to create the ultimate lifeform- the only reason it seems more subtle now is because it only took until re4 for it to suddenly be about doing backflips in the spanish countryside!

Late to the party, but I always did have an odd and mild fear of Corroder when I was younger. Something about him ruthlessly murdering a man and his blind mother with one of the worst ways to kill someone just really stuck with me.
Oh dang nice use of the final boss theme from Xenoblade Chronicles. Honestly Rad, the music in this episode really was on point, nice job dude.
Your skit toward the end with the bow &, Scissorman really nailed how different the 3rd game is.
You should check out Dreaming Mary!

I really love the crazy and frenetic mocapped cutscenes in this game. Is so theatrical and funny
Love your icon so much
I like the motion capture and everything this game did that made it so apart from others. It's literally like a B-movie japanese horror movie and the plot went so far from the original murder suspense thriller. I really love it and honestly think it's probably my favorite in the series.
“And he also directed a movie called Battle Royale”

Hello There I think you mean bus...
With the exception that battle royal is a Japanese film from the year 2000
But hey, it's a fortnite joke
@@AkashiyaKimiko wouldn't be surprised if the entire battle royale game genre developed from that old movie
Kevin McGuin could be, the film had quiet a following when it came out back them. Maybe some developers were fans of it.
So what is the 1st worst game you've ever beaten?
R.I.P Brady the cool black dude.
@LonelyLoser thanks
Where can I find this...
I really dont get how people cant wrap their around tank controls. Its not that difficult to get used to them. I used to dislike them, but then I tried it out in REmake, took me 20 minutes and I was used to them. They ARE the superioir control scheme for games like this. Okay, I can understand for games like Haunting ground, you have to dodge quickly and such, tank controls would feel a bit clumsy for that game. But SH4 and Rule of Rose NEEDS tank controls.
I love this game for the cutscenes. The motion capture is just amazing.
I'm gonna second all the people recommending Blue Stinger and Illbleed. I'd really love to see your take on them. If you thought the story to this was silly...
Never finished Illbleed when I had my Dreamcast but I enjoyed it, awful voice acting n' all!
@@theblocksays Oh yeah, the stories for those two are the best parts of the games. I'll stay quiet about why though. I hope Nitro Rad finds out for himself.

Fantasic Marathon, enjoyed it completely & I'm excited to see what you've come up with for the end of the year content.
I would say this is an excelent way to get someone into horror games just like some RPG Maker games. I've been getting into the horror genre a bit more these past couple of days after watching Hereditary (which I highly recommend to anyone that wants to get into the horror genre of movies), so I really agree with all of that.
Now to find a copy of Clocktower 3 & try it out when I can.
Very good video, I've already seen it whole and I approve it
Your a magic man
Know what kind of game would be an amazing remake with today's growing interest in psychological horror? I have no Mouth and I must Scream. Get on that juicy piece of retro goodness, my Rad boy.
Speaking of psychological horror, American Mcgee's Alice and its sequel are pretty good games for that genre
OBSCURED needs to be revived
I have no mouth and I must scream would be beyond creepy with the "yellow" level or that cut out content where you eat a baby whole somehow.
Honestly, I don't see why. Only a re-release would be more than enough.
the way you touched on the voice acting and motion capture just made me think of koldeka, a ps1 game that had INCREDIBLE voice acting and motion capture cutscenes.
Kodelka- The best game nobody played.

It's been 20 years since Clock Tower 3 released. Come on, Capcom.
Would love to see you run through the Fatal Frame series! ...would also like your buddy to get an opening it a relaxing hammock and a nice drink after this.
Wait, is that Kyle Hyde?
Japanese acting is way too cheesy, I usually don't watch a Japanese show unless it's been proved to be really really good.
I gotta thank ya for looking at this series NitroRad, this really is a forgotten series of games despite most of the games being successful. I remember learning about the first game thanks to JonTron’s old Halloween vid on this, and I’m really happy you took a look at these, I was really curious about them but had no way to play them, so I’m glad you talked about them. Bates is the ultimate badass, even when he's not in a clock tower game
13:11 - wait, wait, wait... So Clock Tower 3 is a Magical Girl game...? What the...?
Oh yeah, I remember watching some walkthroughs of this game. From what I've seen, I think it's alright, definitely not as atmospheric as the previous entries though. Not really into the cinematics and overall cinematography. I think it's way too goofy to be taken even remotely seriously and that's just kind of a shame, but perhaps that was their point - to be over the top. But thanks to it, it has its own identity and that's something I don't really see that often nowdays in most horror games, and, despite the game's rather odd nature, that's something I can appreciate.
Every now and then, as a Clock Tower fan, I replay Ghost Head and think to myself "Good God, Bates is awesome, but this game sucks...."
Especially since Nitro Rad downplayed just how many plotholes Ghost Head has
Then I start debating if Ghost Head or 3 is worse... then I play 3 again and it becomes NO CONTEST! 3 is unquestionably worse... then months later, I play Ghost Head again and have this debate with myself
Haunting Ground and Nightcry I hear are pretty good you also got Remothered which a lot of people are saying is a good successor to Clock Tower so you could try that out as well.
Damn it the fact the series didn't continue is a damn shame.
It would be awesome to have more magical girl horror games that are over the top and fun
When horror games go full anime xD wow

Jesus that acting at the beginning was disturbing. The choking and struggling was really realistic. You guys should really make a movie. You're good at directing and cinematography and Brady's good at acting.
Oh yes, the one we've all been waiting for.
By comparison, it makes everyone else's quincañeras sound super boring. They didn't become chosen heroes to find God and stop the evil shopkeep, or use magic archery to kill the Dark God and his Subordinates, or stuff. They just had cake and went to a party.

Wait, Clock tower(2) takes place in Norway?? That makes absolutely no sense, everyone has english names! Nothing from it gave me the impression that it takes place in Norway. It doesn't make sense that her name is Alyssa either, Alyssa isn't a typical norwegian name. If her name was Anniken, Andrea or Anita THAT would be sensible localization, at least those names make sense in a norwegian setting. They literally set it in America and called it Norway, i'm actually mad.

You might not see this, but I've been a fan of yours for a couple of years now. I always come and just chill out and watch your videos when I've had a hard day or just want to wind down with a meal. Even if I'm not necessarily interested in the game you're covering, I just find your style, your format and your voice relaxing-- even comforting. About 2 years ago (around when you uploaded this), I was going through a bit of a rough period, and I discovered your channel through your Mario series reviews. After that, I'd watch a couple of your videos a day, and I dunno. Just thank you, man. You brought me comfort during a bit of a difficult time and even now, I still gravitate toward this channel when I need to cheer myself up. Thanks again for doing what you do. We appreciate it!
There's no fear in this game? Try playing it on the highest difficulty level once you beat the game and we'll see if you don't feel the tension and the fear tied to the panic meter. It was a really good game for me, the story was well written even though the end went a little crazy but I was hooked for a good part of it. Great game.
Almost any game can be "scary" if you play it on a punishing difficulty level. That has little to do with the horror genre.
@@VisserZer0 Stressful is the word I'd use.
It's not scary at all, just more challenging. Particularly , enemies are faster, Alyssa panics easier, boss attacks in battles are stronger and so and so , however the item set is the exact same as the normal game and so is the item amount , unlike Haunting Ground that has less healing items on hard mode. Doesn't help either that all the preset encounters and ''triggers'' for an enemy to appear are ALWAYS the same (Sledgehammer in appearing in the stairs room in the Music Hall, Corroder in the blind spot when you are gonna go upstairs in the Rand Houser, SccissorWoman behind the book shelf after you read that one note from Alyssa's Grandfather in the library, ALL the appearences of the Chopper in the Elevator during the sewer part ... and so and so and yes i have played the game waaay too many times) So yeah, since everything is essentially always the same you dont get a surprise factor after the very first playthrough, not even in hard mode , unlike once again HG, that has a select ''preset'' stalker appearences but they appear more randomly than in CT3.
Wow, early episode.
If Clocktower: Ghost head is the 2nd worst game you've beaten, that's the 1st?
You should check out haunting grounds. I believe it started out as a clock tower sequel or spinoff and they made it its own thing. I remember liking it as a kid, would like to see if its nostalgia or if it was a decent game.
22:07-I dunno why, but my mind for some reason thought that was that MHA song that usually plays when setting things up. Obviously nowhere close, but I have no idea what prompted that from me.
Really hope you do Remothered, which started out as a Clock Tower: The First Fear remake.
As a side note, the Rooder powers reach their peak at 15, then start dwindling, before they disappear completely when the girl turns 20. The powers themselves usually start surfacing in their early teens.
And the reason Alyssa's grandfather wanted to do the ritual, was because it would allow them to become one and stay together for all eternity. He had already lost his beloved daughter Nancy when she got older and wanted to marry, so he refused to lose Alyssa the same way, especially as he was getting older.
I thought Remothered was just inspired by Clock Tower?
Nope. : D
Regarding chase themes... Who here remembers Nosk's theme? How cool would it be for the music to stay quiet when sneaking around, then get to the pulse pounding stuff when the guy spots you?
