Had some good times at Binbrook Crash Gate 3. Watching the Lightnings in the last couple of years in RAF service. Then going to the Lightning Assoviation Rally`s later on
Detached to Binbrook from 60 M.U great time in the 60s , hard work , curing the fuel leaks , I discovered a broken fuel pipe bracket which had worn into a live pressurised feel line , causing all the Lightings to be grounded for fleet checks . Transpired about one third of the RAF’s fleet had damaged lines, popular or not 😂fond memories, could not understand why MOD closed the base. Ideally placed for interception.
