Thanks so much! 🙏 Ive always considered myself a guitarist way more than a singer so I really appreciate you saying that.

Fab -- loving your thoughts on dynamics and being economical with the notes that need to be played, improv etc. Thanks so much for taking the time to do this, super helpful.

Kerel! The tips from 26;45 min on playing the notes in the cord and jusst findding out what fits with it has instantly upgraded my playing. And the fun of it. This is an exerciise that brngss instant cool sounds and teaches you so nicee to control your fingers at the same time. I was looking for something nice to practice. This iss it. Thank you!! Most skill exertcisses are boring. Thiss one sounds like your jamming!

Thanks for sharing fingerstyle playing techniques that we can add to our guitar playing repertoires to add spices and right hand dynamics to the sound.

The first bit of advice was really great. I have a tendency to pound on that base string when picking which is great for some songs but I'm going try and add more subtlety to my picking now, since seeing this. Thanks. 😊

Hi, thanks! Glad it was helpful. Yeah I’d say that first point is one of the most important and something that I think about more and more these days with my own playing.

Hey Don, no probs at all. I hope you’re enjoying the replays! By the way I’m not sure if you’re signed up to my email community? But I’ve just sent out an email with a form to submit questions for me to answer during the next live stream for people that can’t make it when I go Live.

Hi, I’ve just found your channel through the strymon pedal review. Gotta say you have the cleanest, crispest acoustic tone I’ve ever heard. Outstanding. Fantastic voice as well.
Been listening to your albums too, would definitely suggest adding the albums into your playlist, took me a while to find them, but very happy I did!
I took a break from playing for too long, your channel has been an inspiration to get going again. From the UK here too, was great to hear a traditional song. I’m a huge Hamish Imlach fan and traditional folk songs. Was truly refreshing to hear you play.
Do you have any suggestions on fingerpicking patterns to practice? I have a few nailed, just learning to blend them right now. Will hopefully be there for your next live stream. Thank you very much

Hi, thanks for the comment. So glad you’re enjoying the content. Ah okay yeah I need to make my albums easier to find, thanks for the tip 🙏.
I’m always a fan of the alternate thumb patterns, that’s my go to pattern and then I advance it based on the song and the melody. Have you tried many alternate thumb patterns? What are the ones you’ve already learnt?

@@FabianHollandGuitar hey, thanks for the reply!
      Hard to explain without a tab 😂 but things like, a C chord for instance, with 3/1 pinch, 2 D, 0 G, 3, 0 high E, 2 D. Then alternate with like a G chord, skipping the A string.
Some standard travis style patterns like the song ‘wings’ by Josh Ritter if you’ve heard that?
I watched your video about using fingerpicking without chord shapes, never really occurred to me so have been trying that. Never used tunings other than standard, so really want to give DADGAD a go now, sounds incredible! Thanks for your time, really appreciate it and all of your content 👍👍

Fantastic! The sound you’re getting is amazing. Is the guitar plugged in or is everything being picked up on that condenser mic ? Also, the effect on the guitar is that just a reverb? Thanks

    • @FabianHollandGuitar
      @FabianHollandGuitar  2 місяці тому

Hi, thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it. I have the pickup plugged in as well. It’s a K&K pure mini pickup plugged into a bunch of pedals…. Preamp… reverb… delay etc… and then I’m controlling the effects with my volume pedal so I can fade them in and out when I want.
