Great video! Pt2 should include Thorpie's Most People I Know; the Mental's Berserk Warriors (the best ABBA song ever),; Paul Kelly's To Her Door; Hoodoo Guru's What’s My Scene; Masters Apprentices' Turn Up Your Radio; Rebecca’s Empire's Atomic Electric; The Sports' Strangers On A Train; Rose Tattoo's Bad Boy For Love; AC/DC's Long Way To The Top; and, Richard Clapton's Deep Water. 😀🎸
Great list, Troy and Dave. It must have been tough to whittle your list down to 10. Great job, guys! But you know at some point 'someone' is going to request that you blokes sing The Divinyls... you know... the one about... touching. Cheers, Michael.
I dunno if it belongs in a 'top 10' but I will always stop what i'm doing and pay attention if i hear 'dancing in the storm'. Feel like 'youre the voice' is an obvious choice for something everyone has to know tho.
Cool Change - Little River Band could easily make your list. Not sure it would fit your style of playing but I can say as a fingerstyle guitarist that I like the chord progressions in Air Supply - Lost in Love
That's great feedback Andrew because I changed my mind at the last minute and decided to go with no commentary. Maybe I should have gone with my first instinct. No Paul Kelly I know....It was tough narrowing it down to 10...Maybe a Part 2 comin soon
Man, No Angels? No Acadaca? You should have made it a top 50 Troy! It's probably your stereotypical acoustic list. Personally I like other songs from those bands as they're more fun to play like "INXS: Don't change", "Hunters: Do You See What I See", "Crowded House: Mean To Me and/or Don't Dream It's Over", "Diesel: Any song off the first side of the first album". I suppose you have to have Eagle Rock and Downunder, but "Hi Honey Ho" and "Overkill" are fun to play too. I know a lot of venues won't let you play it anymore, but "Am I Ever Gonna See You Face Again" is a must. We played it a few times to close shows out. I'm likely to shoot anyone playing "Holy Grail" as it was so overplayed when it came out and still pisses me off to this day! My must learn Aussie songs would be: - Any Angels or AC/DC song...No I'm not kidding! If I had to pick only a few it would be: - The Angels: Shadow Boxer or Take A Long Line - AC/DC: Highway To Hell Or Back In Black - Aussie Crawl: Boys Light Up - Jimmy Barnes: Working Class Man - Cold Chisel: You Got Nothing I Want - Choir Boys: Run To Paradise - The Church: Under The Milky Way - Easybeats: She's So Fine, Wedding Ring or Sorry - Goanna: Solid Rock - Hoodoo Gurus: I Want You Back, Like Wow-Wipeout, The Right Time - Mental As Anything: The Nips Are Getting Bigger - Mondo Rock: Cool World - The Radiators: Give Me Head, Summer Holiday, 17 (I Wish I Was) - Radio Birdman: Burn My Eye - Rose Tattoo: Rock'n'Roll Outlaw, Nice Boys, We Can't Be Beaten - Split Enz: I Got You (But they've go so many great songs for guitar) - You Am I: Cathy's Clown (Again, so many great songs to learn) Honorable mentions for Baby Animals, Candy Harlots, 1927, Icehouse, The Sports, The Sunnyboys, Tumbleweed, The Hard-ons & Cosmic Psychos!
@@globalnova Mate there's really only a handful of songs I wish they'd burn the tapes and never be heard from again. But I don't listen to much radio anymore. That's why they invented large SSD drives to put all the good stuff on!
I'd add Richard Clapton : Deep Water / Girls on the Avenue LRB : Help is on it's way / Lonesome Loser Masters Apprentices : Because I love you / Turn up you radio Billy Thorpe : Most people I know Easybeats - Friday on my Mind
@@peterhughes8699 Love this! I only do Horses if it's requested, or I do a medley of "Holy Grail" and just do the 'Horses" chorus (As it's the same 4 chords) at the end of Holy Grail. April Sun is a great track for a covers gig though aye, always gets a good response from Aussie crowds.
@@grungie42 ok hehehe so you don't like those 2 songs either and will only do em on request. Fair enough :) I'm a hard bastard and won't do either anytime :)
Really a pretty crappy list mate, prob 4 or 5 should be there, but so much missed! Crikey, you gunna throw in a Hunters song, well Throw is a hint! Flame trees, April Sun, Eagle Rock, yep, Down under yeah ok, but where is Khe Sahn, Most People, gotta cater to us yobbos!

Recreate Pearl Jam unplugged for the people!!
Great job on what is an impossible task!
Thanks Mark
Can't believe there's no Mutton Birds. Shocking.
Great selection, I'm probably over horses all Aussie classics. Next top 10 electrified?
Possibly yes
I'd be interested in some commentary of why you picked the songs you did. I know picking just 10 must be almost impossible, but no Paul Kelly?
That's great feedback Andrew because I changed my mind at the last minute and decided to go with no commentary. Maybe I should have gone with my first instinct. No Paul Kelly I know....It was tough narrowing it down to 10...Maybe a Part 2 comin soon
No DD Smash/Dudes? There's a reason Dave Dobbyn has been knighted, he's NZ royalty.
Dave Dobbyn almost made the cut....It was tough to narrow down 10
Awesome
Cats in the cradle.
Tuned a half step down....

Hey Peter, thanks for your input, and yes, I think I'll turn this into some sort of series. Stay tuned
as an Aussie living overseas, i would love to hear Holy Grail . over here so sick of other stuff so i get where you're coming from

Richard Clapton : Deep Water / Girls on the Avenue

Masters Apprentices : Because I love you / Turn up you radio
Billy Thorpe : Most people I know
Easybeats - Friday on my Mind
@@ianglencross I forgot about Billy Thorpe. The Cosmic Psychos do a great cover of "Most people" along with some Buffalo and Lobby Loyd covers.
Pretty good, but no Aussie Crawl? Surely a top ten acoustic would have at least one Crawl song, 😉
It was hard to narrow down to 10. I knew some act/band would miss out
what's your PJ tribute band called Troy? tks
